Howdy y'all, I'm coming in peace. I just want to let you know that you guys put on a great game and got nothing to be ashamed of. You guys are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the CCL. I don't think I expected you guys to get this far. So keep your heads up, you had a great run, and we'll see y'all later. Till next time, H.
Picked the wrong time to fall apart. They didn't play we'll enough to win. So congrats to LA. Hats off to the guys who made the trip. There's always the CCL.
That was in a word, shite. Carr injury changed it all. Penalty was suspect but hey, "Superclubs" are gonna get those calls (See: ManU at home). Score not reflective of the match but who cares. Woulda coulda shoulda. See you next year.
It's all good, this LA is finished now. We still have our core team, and a bright future ahead with the players we have, a well ran organization(outside of AEG screw those jerks), and a brilliant coach. What we saw and experienced was bad luck, because in the first half and part of the second half before Carr's injury, we showed folks that the team can play patient and precise football. At one point, the passing seemed like I was watching Barcelona in the midfield sometimes. LA might have a trophy, but we have the future.. Dale Dynamo!
This one hurt like hell. We had it. I'm very disappointed in Moffat. His touch and passing was bad tonight. Kandji is obviously too stupid to learn from Watson how little we tolerate the fancy dribble shit that leads to nowhere. I'm not happy with the calls, but what else in new in the AEG bowl. The second the intensity got turned up the ref suddenly dislikes us and LA's tolerance for physicality just hit rock bottom. I guess it was ok when they hacked the shit out of Carr for them though. We really needed more from Bruin tonight and it just didnt happen. I think we should've been finding him behind the defense the same way we found Carr for the goal more often. Thank God for alcohol after this one. I'll take anything I can get to forget hearing that beyond asshole chant of US reject from LA fans. ESPN was real happy to accommodate turning up the sound for their chants all night.
I'm fed up with Kandji personally....he's just be frustrating to watch. The moment I heard Kandji was coming on, my heart sunk...I do hope we can get someone in the January window to help out in front....we really do need it. Bruin is still trying to get the big game shakes off of him and we need someone confident enough to help Bruin through it and to make our attacking more dangerous.. But man, we had it until Carr got injured...
Match turned when Calen got hurt. Boy did it. His injury allowed their backs to move up the flanks which lead to that fiasco in the box. Our Achilles heel has always been moments of disorganization in the back. yep, hadn't seen this for a while but what comes around goes around. Gonzales is a freaking beast. He should have got come back player of the year for THIS year. Thank you Chingy for all the memories. See you at FO events. Thanks Becks-for all the grief I have given you, you are the reason this league is where we are at today. Mission accomplished. Original Metro and former roommate of Rico, Mike Magee has quietly put together and impressive little resume. But yet his former roommate still gets more press...Rico, come on man. Let's put it together in a big match. Lips-I did thought you were overrated. Not anymore. Landy-how did Motley Crue say it? Don't Go Away Mad, just go away. Line of the match-on the Tally PK-Me: how is that a foul, Tally got all ball Wifey: (after replay) yep all balls.
Sad? No. Thank you Houston Dynamo. I love you for even giving me the chance to travel thousands upon thousands of mile a season for games. I've experienced and seen things that I wouldn't have without y'all.
Houston didn't have an answer for Robbie Keene. He is in a class of his own in MLS. It was a good run, and while I am disappointed, I am also looking forward to the cycle renewing during the off-season. SIEMPRE NARANJA
Your lot gave us a great & honest game, certainly not the prettiest from either side, but hugely entertaining. Not sure if it came across in the telecast, but the Dynamo were applauded off the field by nearly the whole stadium. Losing Cup Finals sucks so I'll take my leave.
I'm not going to rewatch today's game for highly technical play-by-play breakdowns, but here are my thoughts: 1) As I stated during the game, the Carr injury just changed the momentum. It's like we got a slow leak on a tire and couldn't get it inflated again after he went out. And the challenge was unnecessary, which makes it a shame. 2) Up until Carr scored, I thought the game had a 1-0 feel to it. Like if it went to the half 0-0 that there was going to be one moment in the second half that decided it. I almost wished he had scored in the second half instead of the first! The atmosphere in the first half seemed pretty dead on TV, it may have been far more intense in person 3) Dynamo team and fans will sort of feel we let one get away, but we could have been down 2-0 in the 1st half VERY easily. Donovan missed his clear chance and Magee somehow headed it down but not in from 3 feet out (I did think he may have been offsides, but the flag stayed down). 4) The backline mental errors which we had avoided for so long seemed to bubble up today a few times. Poor marking on Gonzales a few times. 5) The Clark PK was unlucky, but legit. He actually probably handled it twice, once on the first shot and again when Keane kicked it into his hand on the ground. The final PK was probably legit as well but maybe doesn't get called that late. Didn't matter IMO at that point. Ref was OK. Let a lot go which helped at times and hurt at others. 6) If I had to point to one area that didn't do enough, it was probably Boniek Garcia and Davis and maybe the midfield in general on offense. Just never seemed to get it going and I think LA defended it that way coming in. 7) Kandji struggled. Regressed into an offensive flow killer. Twellman made some good points about how certain things Mac does takes him out of the play. 8) We did have some shots, but it would have been nice to have tested Saunders more. He was shaky and I consider him average at best in MLS. He went down early on the Carr goal. 9) Lastly - and I could see this coming if we lost - folks are already criticizing Dom about resting the starters in the loss at Colorado and then missing home field advantage for today by one point. On the post-game show a guy called in and complained about Dom's decision. The resting of starters at Colorado did not cost us homefield advantage today. The giveaway of other points at various times during the season (the home draws against the bottom of the table) is what cost us the homefield today. If anyone can recall the second half @ SKC in the playoffs, if you think we would have held on with a squad with another game of mileage on their legs in the prior 11 days you are crazy. That little extra rest helped us for the first 4 games of the playoffs. It was the absolute right call at the time.
