The lineup I'd like to see.

    Reina
    Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
    Allen Henderson
    Shelvey
    Gerrard/Suso Suarez Assaidi
Jones, Coates, Carragher, Lucas, Gerrard/Suso, Sahin, Sterling
Put Lucas on for about 20 minutes at the end.
    I'm just dreaming though...

Much discussion on their goalkeeping woes after another error midweek. They have had three different goalies this season. Gazzaniga seems to still be their first choice for this weekend. Obviously he will be fantastic on Saturday.

They play a good passing game and score goals fairly regularly, so 1 goal is not gonna be enough for us to get three points. Let's get ahead early and put this one to bed without too much stress.

    Must Win Game.

No doubt. He will be MotM like all back-up GKs that play us.

i just read that lucas and wisdom will be available for selection. lucas surely won't start, but if wisdom can, then surely it will be:

    reina
    wisdom.. skrtel.. agger.. johnson
    gerrard.. henderson.. allen
    sterling.. suarez.. enrique
i would personally rest sterling, he's looking hammered out there. i'd also rest gerrard in favor of sahin, but with this being a certain must win, i doubt rodgers can/will take a risk not starting either.

    In.

A win would be nice. This line up is unlikely but...

    Reina
    Wisdom, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson
    Allen, Hendo
    JjS
    Gerrard, Suarez, Assaidi

Subs- Jones, Sterling, Suso, Coates, Carra, Lucas, Morgan

And even when he's clearly beaten, the posts will surely beat us.

For the record, anything less than a win in this fixture is absolutely unacceptable

Hell freezes over 21/12/12 therefore no chances of watching the Fulham game the next day. 4 games to go 12 points needed.:)

Well I'm very pro-Rodgers and the team is on par with my expectations thus far, however this game goes beyond tactics. This has to do with Rodgers' ability to get his team to bounce back mentally. This is a must win at home vs one of the league's worst teams and the league's worst defense. We just dropped 5 of 6 points on a road trip. There's appropriate pressure there and its on BR to have his team live up to it.

I am in for a win. I suspect the only change will be Wisdom at right FB and Johnson on the left with Downing dropped. If we get ahead then. Lucas for twenty at the end. Henderson to come off. I like the idea of Gerrard at the Right forward but it won't happen

Yes, this is one of our easiest fixtures in the Prem, and Southampton have the weakest defence in the Division so we should be able to score, right? Right?

Their back line is poor, but they are actually a good passing team and have been improving lately. I don't think this will be a walkover, especially with our habit of not taking our chances.

I am nervous about this one as anything less than three points is going to cause even the most patient of fans to start melting down.

We really need an early goal to calm the nerves and get the crowd going. A goal or two from someone other than Suarez would be welcomed. Enrique seems to be the best for that at the moment. But if Owen Goal is playing again I would take that too.

Yes. I think the owners are sweating badly now after realizing their gamble in the transfer window did not work out. Ian Ayre should take a lot of culpability for this if the rumors from this summer are true about Dempsey, et al.

I could see them backing Rodgers in the January window in order to save some face and change the tenor around the club/team.

Sharks are circling beneath the boat and a storm is brewing.

Suarez needs 'a' Gerrard alongside or backup, in the way he worked with torres. Trouble is without him in the mid we only have lightweights left.

Quick switch on Poo's lineup and I'm in for the win.

Interesting stats on the Saints from the Beeb:

    • Saints are unbeaten in four Premier League games (W2, D2).
    • They have the worst defence in the division, having conceded 31 goals.
    • However, Fulham are the only team in the bottom half of the Premier League to have scored more goals (25) than Saints (21).
    • Southampton have scored in 12 of their 14 league games this season, but conceded in 13.

Worst thing that could happen is we get into a shootout with them. Worst thing. But, then again, maybe they will open up their team besides just sit and counter - which could give us a chance to score more goals.

Agree. Crisis talk will be directed our way - and rightfully so. I didn't see the first 10 minutes of the Spurs game so I've only seen our defense play strongly of late, which is encouraging.

An early goal would be ideal to keep nerves calm. A late winner would also go over well.

A number of years ago we beat the Saints 7-1. While I have no enmity towards Soton a result like that would certainly help a bit. It would be kind of funny for Stewie and Joey to bag a brace apiece. ;)

I'm even starting to worry and I've been included to give a pretty long leash.

When Skrtyl and Enrique are tied for second most league goals, we have a serious problem.
