*sigh* I hate this kind of crap from the teams themselves. Either make an announcement or be quiet. Then it can't backfire on you. Not that the Rapids have any experience with that (Arsenal Colorado, Martin Rivero, biggest announcement in the city's history, etc., etc., etc.).
Jon aren't you in marketing field? What's the point of doing this? No other sport do I recall the constant promising of big news that later turns out less so.
honestly... it depends on the news if its really that big it will break before then and if it isnt this is to make it seem bigger
Mile High Sports is breaking the news. The AM radio station. If it were a major player announcement, FO personnel announcement, what have you, I'd imagine they'd pick a bigger mouthpiece. But as it's AM radio, I'm expecting something on the marketing side of things: partnership/alliance, sponsor related news, friendlies/preseason training, or a player we've already got who agreed to a new deal.
The big news....... And you'll be shocked is..................... I will be signing a one-game preseason contract. The match date, yet to determined, will be against RBNY. The management's plan is have me nut punch Rafa Marquez for being an absolute douche. It's a performance based contract so the harder I hit the more I'm paid. If Rafa doesn't return to MLS the one-game contract will be restructured to a Steven Lenhart nut punch.
Mile High Sports if FM (93.7). I listen to them all the time, much preferred over any of the ESPN affiliates.
let it be the signing of ike oapara. dude is a great athlete he has speed height age jumping i never seen a center back jump as well as this guy honestly.
When did that happen? I've only ever known them as 1510. If the news breaks in a magazine instead of over the airwaves/WWW, I'm even less optimistic about the "bigness" of this news.
wow some serious news all from bianchi judging by this list next week we will either have a friendly / qualifier OR a shirt sponsor
Hmmm... promising and positive, I hope. If something DOES turn out well, I'll personally email Hinchey saying good job .
I'd like to see the actual quotes from Hinchey, instead of what looks like Bianchi's paraphrasing. But I was one of the people asking for a public mea culpa from the RFO for some of the roster moves, and that tweet #5 appears to be it. Kudos to Hinchey.
They must do really poor on the sponsorships to have increased attendance to 15,000+ and still lost $1.3M. I know this is probably just wrong, but: $1.3M, divide by 17 games...take $30/person ($30/person profit), that's around 2500 people. So I wonder about that number...is this part of Kroenke's favorite tax deduction? Edit: or are they just selling that many discounted tickets that gameday revenue is really low?
Please-o-please let this be a jersey sponsorship.... With that extra $$$ in hand we can then go out and find a DP replacement for Casey.
Thought I read somewhere that US Soccer will not announce locations for WCQ until Jan so that is out. But it also doesn't make sense to me on way you would announce jersey sponsor either...
Those are all positive tweets. Good to see some acknowledement of reality from RFO. Also good to see some simple response to Bravo critisisms from higher ups. I don't think I have all the info/answers when I criticize Bravo and I don't think others here do either, so hearing that there is confidence in Bravo from the Prez or others does help, especially when accompanied by some reasoning. Does not take away all concerns but when "dialogue" happens (dialogue meaning a simple response to voiced concernsfrom fans) there is some sense of addressing possible issues. As opposed to quiet from the FO, since a non-response can easily be interpreted as reluctant agreement. Well, whatever, good to hear something.
From the comments of "homegrown" players being the future that wouldn't surprise me. If the Rapids truly believe homegrown players are the future I would love it if Bianchi actually asked some specific questions about the academy such as the specific plans for the Rapids to attract and develop this previously "untapped talent" and how our academy compares to others in the league.
