Should all field marshalls have automatic weapons?

I've often thought gunfire would prove an adequate deterrent to hooligans, misbehaving parents, and sissy kung-fu players. Turns out I was right.

WOW - once Scarface pulled the rifle, the mob split up fast.

You know, I'm coming around to this. We could give them pepper spray at first, just to send a warning shot - no pun intended.

Fox40 is coming out next year with AK-47's in multiple colors. And for "those" referees, yes, you can buy bullets that are the same color.

Maybe they can use them to take out the snipers that cause the players to go down so easy in the box. Could be helpful.

Certainly would have been useful in the Adriano situation!

Maybe just a loud noise in general.

As long as the 4th official's AK-47 matches his shirt, the assessor will be satisfied.

Have a recording of gunfire in the press box or at the scorer's table piped through the stadium loudspeakers. Instruction to scorer: If a mass confrontation breaks out, press this button:whistling:

    Don't bullets...come down?

But seriously...the volunteer field marshals at the tournaments I go can't even seem to handle finding the right game card to give me. I don't think I'd want to give them guns.

Hmm...I wonder if a tournament's or league's ROC need to address concealed carry.....

Hmm. . . . since the LOTG* apparently have the power to absolve us from liability for our decisions on the pitch, perhaps they can grant us the power to carry conceled weapons . . . .

(Decision 1 of the Decisions ofthe Internaitonal F.A. Board in Law 5.)

Eh, the state I live in has granted me the license to carry a concealed weapon. That's all I need! :)

Same here. They considered my job to be dangerous enough that I need to carry it as a requirement.

We used to have a State Referee, now retired, a five foot nothing, 40-something soccer mom, with a concealed weapons permit. All three of her kids are now Marines.

I vote for giving field marshals tasers - heck, never mind players, coaches and parents - there are a few referees at some tournaments who could use a good jolt! :)

They sure do and when they come down if you are unlucky you could be seriously injured or killed.

    This took place where?

Whenever I'm at the range it never fails to have a short, female nurse in one of the nearby stalls. Last week she was practicing with her pink .38 special.

IIRC, the Trinidad and Tobago game is where the AR and the fan had a fight. I believe the game with the automatic weapons was an Arabic team. I was going to make a comment about the fact that there were firearms present but then I remembered that many games have some sort of a security force. Even simple HS games, they hire/contract for off-duty officers to be present in uniform with their firearm.

Do they walk around in fatigues with AK-47s? ...not so much in the places I frequent.

Or just hire the actor from the Police Academy movies as your broadcaster.
