If you've been following T.Boone lately, he's lost enough cash that he might not be able to afford a phone.

Hey, being a AT&T U-verser I feel for you. Just try asking a question over there(on the AT&T boards)and the goons come out in force. No news coming from BeIN, AT&T or anywhere else that I've found.

Eating and viewing at Britannia Arms is already getting old for me.

The forums at "forums.att.com" are a disaster of their own kind. The moderators (whatever they're called) are not U-Verse employees, but rather are employees of Lithium, the company that (apparently) runs the forum software. There are 2-3 AT&T employees on the site and they're recognized by the disclaimer in their signature about anything they post is their own words and shouldn't be taken as an official word from AT&T.

They get a lot of people who post one time and then disappear, never to be seen again. A lot of it is "I signed up for U-Verse because the representative/call center person SAID THAT ALL MY CHANNELS would be on this service." Basically, they appear to be customers that fail to do their research, then get po'ed when they are realizing that AT&T doesn't have *usually* Hallmark Channel.

Based on their website, you'd think that Hallmark Channel is as popular as ESPN or Disney Channel, but I digress.

Anyway, the popular theory is that these "one-post wonders" are employees of other providers who go there as part of smear campaigns.

The other issues that I have are those "community leaders" aren't actually in authority positions, which can be quite confusing if you're new to the site. My other-other issue is that the mods over there are piles of crap and they move threads or close them without going away from their carbon-copy responses. Try bumping a thread over than a year old...it gets locked without explaining that it's a year old.

    'nuff said.

However, AT&T is totally mum on ALL channel negotiations. They won't even say "We're working on it. Thanks for staying with us." I can totally understand why they won't give a time frame, but to be totally 100% mum is quite strange.

Definitely hope that Lou Holtz plans on shaving those legs because Im sure ESPN will be using the plexiglass desk to attract that 18-25 demographic. That could go viral at any minute!!!

    WOW--- 500-600 MILLION for 12 years!!:eek::eek: that's half a billion dollars!!!:eek::eek:
The money amount paid for the fees is simply stagerring. EPL is definitely small potatoes when compared to that and it goes to show that ESPN wasn't truly desperate to acquire EPL rights--it was simply a nice bit of extra programming if they could get it.

The College football playoff is going to be huge. People have been waiting decades for a tournament so expect it to be a ratings cash cow only second to the NFL playoffs.

The sad part is they continue to use athletes to generate themselves enormous sums of money. Oh and the "they get a scholarship" act is nonsense. I played five years of college football and know the in's and out's. The scholarship is not four/five guaranteed years its yearly renewable and it only covers the bare minimum.

Overseas when you're 16 you get paid and you aren't generating anything monetary for your club. Here? Basically free labor the government allows the NCAA and University's to benefit greatly from.

Of course! Thats why itll only be used for the college football playoffs! I hope that by the time this thing starts we get a Big East (which will be airing on BeIn) team vs. Boise State! Those hispanic factory workers in Idaho will tune in in droves. Also need more chicas or washed up middle age soccer moms whos resume and facebook pics ive forwarded to some of my media connections!

Oliver was fun to have around. He was like a Piñata, I am officially putting my support on letting that guy back in. He was wrong 75% but it was fun ripping his rumors apart.

But if you do bring Oliver back, he'd have to be in a straight jacket with a Hannibal Lecter type muzzle guard.

I believe that he wears that outfit daily.

Meanwhile, Ollie is trolling the Pac 12 boards, guaranteeing that Directv will start carrying the Pac 12 Network on channel 626 (Pasadena'a area code) any day now.

Of course he's wrong about that one, too.

Some combination of TV viewers in China would have to buy Comcast for $1 plus transmission fees with a little bit of DirecTV's Sports Pack on the side.

Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson seem to announce more Serie A games than La Liga. I wonder how each feel about that. And Steve Cangelosi? ha... i rememember him when he was a local sports guy in New York talking about the Yankees, Knicks, Mets, Rangers, Giants, Jets etc... funny hearing talking about Xavi, Luca Toni, Obafemi Martins, etc. now...

Look for the upcoming deal Fox is negotiating with the LA Dodgers for the team's local broadcast rights. Negotiations are said to be around $240-$280 million/year for 25 years. "" indeed!

Me thinks that, with this type of money thrown around, some of these people will go broke sooner or later. It happened in Europe with Kirsch and Setanta. It may happen in the US and on a bigger scale to boot.

Very strange midweek of games indeed. Surprised Bein didnt show Lazio v Udinese game on english channel or Marseille v Lyon game today, or even a variety of Copa del Rey games. Definitely seems to have been a shift in amount of live or same-day delay games on Bein now compared to those halcyon days of late August/September. Wonder if they came to the realization that they pissed away a ton of money on a lot of useless product. But I guess if you already wasted the money, why not show the games? I can't imagine they paid a whole lot of anything for the rugby, volleyball or handball rights they have.

What did they show during the mid-weeks in August/September (I only started received BeIn in October)?

I'm not sure there are many games during the calendar year that are more unappealing than the third-choice, 4th-round CdR match, that's why I'm curious.

They seemed to show more replays of games from the previous weekend. Don't know why that would change?

    Gas money.

But, while the Qataris may not care about losing a billion here and a billion there, others will.

The Arab POL money also depends on whims of its owners. If you look at a club like Malaga - last season, they were buying up a storm in order to qualify for the Champions League. Then they stopped paying players and sold off half a dozen of their top stars allegedly because the owner wasn't given an opportunity to develop a bunch of coastal land by the local authorities.

In other words, beIN can just as easily pack its suitcases and move them to another locale with no reasons given.
