Wenger said he's in for a striker. With him saying he needs Walcott decided by December, that just shows that if Walcott doesn't sign, he would be in for a more valued striker. If not, just someone to replace Gervinho for 1/2 months.

Arsenal just signed a 30 mil a year shirt deal with Emirates!

We're only 2nd now behind Manure (45 mil) as far as shirt revenue goes. Beats the 5 mil per year we were getting the past 5 years or so!

Can we now go out and sign Neymar and be done with it? thanks.

Is this good or bad? On twitter some people are saying it isn't impressive while some are ecstatic about it. What exactly does this mean? Are we actually going to get a star or 2 now?

How can it possible be bad? We've been tied down over the last while to the horribly shit deals we signed just to get the financing for our new stadium. Now those deals are expiring and we're finally cashing in lucrative deals.

This is only a shirt sponsorship deal. Still on the table is a new deal with Nike or Adidas for the actual kit.

Hummels & Gotze aren't leaving Dortmund any time soon - they've been at the club forever. Lewandowski will cost 30m million. Gundogan could be a good buy, but he'd run 15 million, and he'd probably play in the same role Arteta does. The Dortmund player it makes sense to go after, if Theo leaves, is Kuba (can't spell his last name, so went with nickname). Not quite as fast as Theo, but much better movement and delivery, and better technique. Dude scores goals on the right too.

Thing is, why would anyone leave Dortmund to come here?

This guy is interesting. I often thought about the possibility of us signing him to cover Gibbs. He could get eaten alive in the Prem though unless his defensive work improves fast

Yeah I was thinking the same thing but I guess people are afraid of when the other clubs renew their deals. You know there will always be negative comments!

A chunk of the 150 mill includes stadium naming rights until 2029 which I believe is an 8 year extension.

not that big of a chunk

Naming rights deals are usually not that huge.

Yeah I think many are confusing the City of Manchester Stadium 'naming rights' deal with something approaching reality.

how is schurrle playing this season?

i really like cavani but he would be too expensive, demba ba would've been a nice purchase imo

i think gotze/hummels/lewandowski would be upwards of 20 million each and dortmund are quite well off so they don't need the money

i like the look of either bender brother though......

i said before, we should of raided newcastle, santon/cabaye/tiote/ba are all quality

Maybe Arsene's decision to keep Theo for the rest of the season, whether he signs in December or not, was predicated on knowing of the money in the new deal with Emirates. Now there is no urgency to get the money his transfer would have brought.

Did we really just get our hopes up? All this means is that the price our best players leave for is higher.

Demba Ba is the kind of player Liverpool signs.

Each of those guys will cost over 30m, and Gotze will cost over 40. I've been watching a fair amount of Dortmund this season, and think that Gotze would be the best player on our team if he came here. By a fair bit.

I'm also not convinced that Lewandowski has the technique to squeeze home chances against a packed defense with his feet. Really good with his head though. If Giroud had pace, he'd be a much better player.

Haven't seen a whole lot of Lars, but Sven doesn't have the technique to play in the midfield for us.

    And finally, to anti:

Unlikely. Dortmund aren't too far behind us in terms of money, and are more likely to win trophies. They actually make substantially more in terms of sponsorship than we do, and the only reason they make less money than we do is because their ticket prices are so cheap.

Arsenal is a bigger club than Dortmund globally. I live in the States and I've never seen an American wearing any Dortmund gear. They are a nice club, but not really on the same level yet.

The biggest factor working against them is that they play in the Bundesliga. Very good league, but they don't get the global TV money that the English league does.

Generally speaking, you are right. But there are probably more Poles wearing Dortmund shirts than there are Americans wearing Arsenal gear.

    ba>giroud

gotze would not be 40 imo, lewandowski is more than good enough, he would be a better version of dzeko for me.....sven could fit in as a destroyer no doubt, lars looks better though. personally i want feillani

How does the population of Poland compare to that of the USA? :)

Arsenal is just a bigger brand than Dortmund across the globe. The club is a lot more valuable. In theory, that should lead to bigger salaries, better players, and better product on the field. Right now they might have the better squad, but if you paired the two clubs against one another at any random point in the last 20 years, how likely is it that they would be favored? We probably have our worst team in years and we would still give them a decent game right now when they are red hot.

Even a team like Liverpool would probably be a more desirable transfer destination than Dortmund in terms of the money and exposure that the player could get.

who gives a crap? you think any arsenal or dortmund player does? see if i were a complete neutral, i'd MUCH rather go to the westfalenstadion to watch a football match. it's cheaper, it's livelier, i get to stand and there's another 20,000 fans there making noise. would i care what someone in idaho ( or wherever) thought? i seriously doubt it. would i care if i were a player? unlikely. arsenal has a few things going for it, but bvb does too.

I think you missed the point of what I was saying. It's all about money. Arsenal is a bigger brand than Dortmund. Hence why I see people walking around with Arsenal sweatshirts and kits on occasion, but never Dortmund. If more people around the globe are watching your games and buying your merchandise, it means more money for your club. And if you haven't been following our transfer activity for the last few years, teams that have a lot of money are pretty attractive to ambitious players.

Hence why no sane player in his prime would turn down Arsenal in order to play for Dortmund.

Probably seen a few. I do know a guy who is a pretty big Bayern fan. Haven't met an American born Dortmund supporter yet. I'm sure they're out there, but in the rare cases when I see someone walking around with soccer gear on it is usually one of the obvious clubs like Man U, Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal, or Madrid.
