i've read elsewhere that dembele has been declared fit, though i don't know the source. it'd certainly be a boost to see him on the pitch at some point.

we need to get something from this one in order to be certain of 'controlling our own destiny' - which is technically an oxymoron, but you know what i mean - going into the final group match. a win, combined with a maribor draw/loss, will see us safely through with a game remaining ... but i'm not betting heavily on either.

needless to say, i'm giving thanks early this thursday ... i may be too grumpy to show gratitude come 3pm.

    COME ON YOU SPURS!!

edit: actually, i believe a draw, combined with a maribor loss will see us through, as well. that's assuming that head-to-head results will break the tie, should we end level on points, and not goal differential (though we'd be in pretty good shape on GD, too).

Football on Thanksgiving... what a great idea. First EL game I will be able to see live.

I'm just taking a little comfort from the fact that we are not the kind of club that would fire the coach after losing a tricky away tie in Italy, putting the team in danger of not qualifying from the group... heh heh

No matter how much leocal would want it.

Disgraceful behaviour fans by the Lazio fans, they attacked a bunch of spurs fans last night in a Pub in Rome. One fan is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the neck.

I used to love watching Italian football back in the 90s on channel 4 but I can understand why Serie A has slipped from being the biggest league to 3rd or 4th now. They really need to sort out the behaviour of the fans and modernise their stadiums.

Already another goal disallowed for Bale marginal offside.

If by 'marginal offside' you mean onside.

Bale's the best player on both teams so far and it's not even close.

0-0 at half time, can't see it ending that way. Our chances have dried up, maybe introducing Lennon or Dembele would help. Or Defoe, Ade's done zilch.

We've started the 2nd half well, no changes to either side. Walker's having a much better game than of late. This, I realize, is the cue for him to make a huge blunder this half.

These linos are calling everything offside.

Dembele on for Carroll - yay. 14 minutes or so.

Is that 3 goals over both legs we've had disallowed against Nazio now?

Lazio dominating possesion. If one team is going to win, it's not us.

Lloris motm without doubt. several world class saves. Kept us in the game. Avoid defeat next and we are through.

not disappointed with the result, to be honest, as i'm sure we'll handle the greeks at the lane. or perhaps i should say, if we can't get something against panathinaikos at home, it won't be lazio away i'm bitching about.

toothless again, though, which is a bit more bothersome.
