I figure shots on goal and goal scoring opportunities are a strong argument on who deserved to win.

Errm, so we only deserve to win if we totally dominate? Would that mean that there are no close matches, no games between equally strong sides? Is this real life?

Rocchi? You're happy today eh? You did show it to Mourinho and Ronaldo eh?

    Roncero goes hard. Hilarious. :D

We had almost the same amount of shots on target. Aguero's chance was bigger than most of ours combined.

It's funny how desperate some people are to win an internet argument, that they start putting shit in someone else's mouth.

We don't need to dominate totally to deserve to win. It was an example. I could use your logic and say; "So we only need to have more chances to deserve to win, despite having a 10% ball possession, and missing all of those chances?", because apparentley, having 2-3 (tops) more chances than somebody else means you deserved to win .

    A draw was fair.

That is your opinion, which is based on "almost" which is based on personal definition (like saying Hart is almost as good as Iker Casillas), and stuff like "most of ours".

Ronaldo tries to score a goal for the highlight reels and wastes the best opportunity of the match (he didn't even chase after the ball, just standing there would look much cooler). He speeds past Hart there, makes the easy goal and we don't even have this argument.

The officiating played a huge factor in the second half. Benzema was killed by Silva and it wasn't even a foul. I'm guessing it's Benzema's fault that he went out injured.

It's funny how when somebody disagrees you crap yourself.

    Correct.

    You're in the minority.

The odd thing is that the first half of this one seemed like a calm, confident, business-like performance .... exactly what you need in away matches in the Champions League. We should have put that game away at the half. When Mancini changed his defensive line midway through the first half, it really slowed our counterattacking but we still looked dangerous. The Cristiano Ronaldo chip and the Khedira chance would have absolutely killed the game. Hey, it happens.

Yes, the ref was poor. Not much I can add there.

I can't really argue with Borussia Dortmund winning the group. They play a very effective, fun-to-watch game. We still aren't firing on all cylinders yet. As I've said before, I'd rather peak later in the season.

Finishing games when we have the chance to has been an issue dating back to last season, so I wouldn't say it's something that is off in this team. I think the difference this season is that we're creating less chances than we did last year, so we're scoring less. Where as last year, we would be up 2, 3, or 4 when we let our foot off of the gas pedal, this year we're up 1.

So it looks like the potential opponents in the 2nd round are Porto/PSG (likely Porto), Schalke/Arsenal (likely Schalke), Bayern, Man Utd., Shaktar/Juve (too tough to call). I'd honestly be comfortable facing any of those teams so long as we avoid Bayern.

Laughable decision to award a penalty and even more so to give a second yellow.

This was when Ronaldo chipped the keeper. Classic Jose.

We created three additional chances in the first 15-20 minutes: a ball played by Cristiano Ronaldo into the box that Khedira redirected wide ... the chip from Cristiano Ronaldo that was played off the line (or close to it) ... the quick move by Khedira that led to a one-on-one that he seemed to scuff. Those should have had us up 2-0, 3-0.

When I say something seems 'off' I am referring to things like chemistry, like the wave after wave of attack, like the edge. Again, I think this side will still hit its stride. It may prove to be too late in the league, but the approach to today's first half was encouraging to me.

In what world? We dominated every part of the game minus about a 15-20 minute span. We should have had three or four goals in the first half and the penalty was a phantom call.

    Why didn't Essien play?
    Away match.
Has played his trade in England.
The extra defensive link Mou has been looking for.

Would have seemed like a total Jose move...

Right now...I would say they could take you. Not easily mind you, not at all...but over two legs, I would put money on Bayern over Madrid. That could change in a couple months, of course.

I want to win the CL. Considering our form in Germany, I'd rather avoid them.

In that case we better stay away from Schalke too.... with our luck with draws, I will be surprised if we didn't end up with Manu or Bayern

Lol...underdogs? You guys will never be seen as underdogs this year no matter who you are matched up to. I'm just saying Bayern is currently playing some pretty effin good football while Real Madrid still seems to be struggling a bit. It's about current form, not class...both of you guys are a cut everybody else right now aside from maybe Barca.
