Chelsea fans berating Roman . Their "fans" would have nothing to show for if he had not splashed the cash when and wherever he did. He buys, sells, fires does whatever he wants and his puppet managers claim that they chose the team and scout new signings. Roman spends time on fifa, pes and football manager, he knows his game.
Well Rafa will always be a hero to me. But the FSG has made it clear he'll never get the Liverpool job again. Why not take the money and run? And if anyone can get Baby Judas scoring again it is Rafa. However, like all the rest he will get a 4 year contract and be fired in one.
Why would anyone want to manage Chelsea? There is more to life than money. Oh well, if he keeps it up Roman screw the club up so royally they'll just go back to being QPR with money as Matt Clark used to say.
Its not just the money though as it also increases the managers reputation. Grant had only ever managed in Israel and after Chelsea got 2 more Prem manager jobs. Di Matteo after 6 months at Chelsea will become the favorite for every new manager job outside the top 4 in England, Italy and elsewhere.
Rafa Benitez has been sacked as Chelsea manager for failing to win anything since taking over this morning.
Look who has 28-1 odds in the "next manager to leave category"! https://www.skybet.com/football/manager-specials
Post of the morning so far: "Rafa Benitez has been sacked as Chelsea manager for failing to win anything since taking over this morning." Props to Samarkand for this one on LFCNY.
It's funny, because during the Rafa vs Mourinho era, Rafa was labelled as fat, useless, shit, stupid, overrated, a terrible manager, etc by Chelsea fans. Once they appoint him, I guarantee that every single one of those plastics who labelled him as mentioned above will be pumped about the hiring. What's my point? Chelsea fans are massive hypocrites.
I don't think so. There seems to be genuine antipathy towards him, mostly of course based on media-fuelled prejudice. He won't last there, though, but will get incredibly rich for the inevitable pay off.
I agree. They hate him. If he does get hired the plastics will boo etc, have mental breakdowns over his supposedly large rotation policies, and then when they face us at Anfield (If he is still there) he will get a heros welcome followed by boos from the plastics. I know Rafa is a man of integrity and respect but why would he stoop this low. Chelsea is not a footballing challenge nor is it going places. His job will be to deal with massive egos, political issues, and boardroom tensions. He is definitely not after the money, nor is he after the recognition of managing a big club (he has done this with Valencia we are a bar over them).
Good luck to him if chooses to go there. Going to be a difficult challenge navigating the politics of that club.
Tweets over on the Beeb saying his appointment is imminent. Articles are all saying it's basically an interim appointment--short term deal. Why someone of his stature would do that is a mind boggler. Roman wants Pep, who wants to stay on vacation.Since 2008 CFC have had 6 managers who have lasted less than a year. 6. Feckin' ridiculous. Good gawd I'm glad I support Liverpool...
He's been named interim manager until the end of the season so RA can get his wet dream of a manager Pep. I can only guess that Rafa is looking at this as a way to boost his credentials after being out of management for a while. It will be so incredibly strange to see him managing them.
It is a sad day for me. I am glad for Rafa. He will get them playing good football. It is not his fault Liverpool refused to take him back It will be a strange day when they come to Anfield later this year
Chortle. He needs a job and, no matter how good you're at something, without practice you become stale. I listened with amusement to Mark Saggers,a Chelsea supporting presenter on talkSPORT, change his tune in 15 minutes. And the backlash on the airwaves has started. Almost as unpopular as Hodgson's appointment at Liverpool.
