What's Pep going to do at Chelsea anyway? Play tiki taka with a midfield of Lamps, Mikel and Ramires? The club and owner are at fault as much as anyone else. They expect perfection but don't make transfers to strengthen our two weakest areas - striker and central midfield. It's ridiculous.
WTF??? I agree with the majority of the sentiment here. Especially these points; It's all on the manager....players are thus excused. Chelsea does not go through transition phases...juts from one aweseom team to the next over night despite having key players gone or absent. We don't have a CF that scores....just one that plays as an AM. Embarrassing for Chelsea. RA made a mistake.
RDM allegedly got hook at Cobham from both Buck and Gourlay have to imagine a replacement was already in the cards
Yet we couldn't do that with RDM? It's not like the manager has any say in the matter. He gets the players they choose and has to fit them in somewhere. Why else would we be stuck with 34 AMs and no strikers or central midfielders.
And RA is showing Pep why it would be so neat to work for such a profesional organization like Chelsea FC.
tears are sliding down my cheeks fellas, real fecking human tears are sliding down my FECKING cheeks, rafa benitez?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! i officially hate Fernando Torres, worst thing that happened to this club, worse than mutu.
We won the CL with Torres on the pitch (he won the corner off which we scored, as I recall). Of all the bad things that have happened to this club, he's not anywhere close to being the worst thing to have happened to this club. Both he and Mutu are minor blips - just disappointing strikers. As for Benitez - all those stories in the press have simply said he's interested. Well of course he is - who wouldn't be? If I was asked to manage Chelsea I'd do it too - at worst I'd come away with a huge pay packet.
Think Rafa will do a decent job, he's a top tactician and has shown the ability to actually adapt, something RDM failed to do.
Funnily enough I was thinking about that, (the available players mean), this morning. If you think about ManU they've got Hernandez, Welbeck and Rooney as possible CF's. You can argue about how good they are but the fact is they're ALL out-and-out strikers, guys to put the ball in the net, (although Rooney can also play behind a main striker and often does). At the back they've got Rio and Vidic but also have Smalling, Jones and, (dare I say it), even Evans who seems to have improved a bit this year. Mind you, there was room for it I admit. Point being, as you say, we're lacking bodies in certain positions and, even in the ones we HAVE got cover, RDM didn't seem to want to give them a run out. Mind you, there was one point Marcotti made which I did agree with though and that is that, if not for some absolutely SHOCKING refereeing mistakes, we'd likely still be top of the league atm. Personally I think this was a mistake, particularly if we don't get the fella RA seems to want and if we end up with rafa.... well.... Edit: On that front, not that it counts for much but, still... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20424576 Rafael Benitez will not be accepted as Chelsea manager should he be appointed to succeed Roberto Di Matteo, according to a supporters' group.
