ummm... my point was not that Colorado gets zero tourists and therefore no non-CO resident will get stoned.
I'm just saying its a different situation than in NL. The problem in NL was people were just driving in, getting stoned and driving out. In huge numbers. They had no intention of doing anything in NL except to buy weed and leave. This led to traffic jams and illegal smuggling.

The geography & demographics should make this a much smaller problem for Colorado. There aren't millions of people living within 20-30 miles of the Colorado border, and you'd have to be an idiot to smuggle weed on an airplane.

been to aspen and denver in colorado....Ashamed to admit, only at the airport...Though what i saw from the sky was very appealing, but time constraints prevented me from visiting and getting to know the state ...While i haven't been Mile "High" since college in the early 00's ..it is something i might consider just to feel welcome to the state and its recreational facilities.... plus i understand it to be awesome to chillax (did when taking hard tests at college, truth be told)

perhaps some enterprising pothead can figure out how to make pot-twinkies and thus save the Hostess from going bankrupt! I think it's a brilliant idea, if I may say so myself. you will never again get the munchies while indulging in this high pleasure as the very thing that causes you to have the munchies will also satisfy the munchies. brilliant, no?

Umm, unless you think pot twinkies consumed one an hour to satisfy the munchies created from the last pot twinkie you ate - this is not a positive feedback loop - rather a positive drool feedback loop.

    But they'll be actual tourists.

In Amsterdam people from all over Belgium, Western Germany and even the UK will come just to pick up some pot and then head back home the same day. Those people won't spend any tourist money in the few hours they spend in Amsterdam.

Colorado would see smaller numbers of these types of transient buyers simply because it's more isolated geographically.

That should light up the commerce in the state. Local businesses will be licking their chops.

Actually - not so much in A'dam - more in the border cities. I.e. Maastricht or possibly Breda.

Amsterdam is a fair distance from the French, Belgian or German borders - and rarely do you see people doing a buy and go. That said, the place is swimming with Brits on bachelor(ette) party weekends - and is the place the Dutch go to party, along with all varieties of European ethnicities.

It's a tourist destination in general, though they have taken steps to make it less about pot and hookers by closing coffeshops in the centrum and making the quality of pot available in the centrum near the red light district not quite as good as elsewhere in the city.

And because it's not exactly difficult to get pot anywhere else in the US. Although who knows, maybe desperate Utah residents will be rolling over the border to stock up.

CO & UT will probably split the 3.2 market.

Exactly. I'm reading a lot of "Great! Now I can get hold of some!!" posts on fb. Well, if you hadn't cut all your ties when you got married/had kids/joined a church/bought a house/whatever, you'd be able to find it where you live. For most people, aging means you'll have to home cult at some point unless you can trust some young adult to help you out but the change, in CO, is not having to worry about prosecution.

Well it depends, will the duty free be offering some of the product?

Maybe something to think about when booking flights to the west coast.

shoot. DIA will become the most popular hub in the country! United might see significantly higher sales - as well as clientele.

I will just need to explain why my flight from Chicago to New Jersey had to do a 5 hour layover in Denver on my expense report.
