    Watch Party

    • The Dynamo's official watch party will also be at Lucky's.
    The Game

    • This the MLS Cup final of the MLS playoffs. This is a rematch of the 2011 MLS Cup where Los Angeles defeated the Dynamo 1-0 at the Home Depot Center. This season, both the Dynamo and Galaxy had to enter the playoffs through the "play-in" game as the Galaxy were the 4 seed in the Western Conference with 54 points and the Dynamo were the 5 seed in the Eastern Conference with 53 points. The Galaxy, by virtue of having more regular season points than the Dynamo are hosting the game, and this season they were 10-6-1 at home; however, they started 2-4-1 at home and have been very good as the season has progessed. Houston ended the year with 53 points and was 3-9-5 on the road. Thus far in the playoffs, the Galaxy are 1-1-1 at home and the Dynamo are 1-1-1 on the road. The winner of this game wins the MLS Cup and will also earn a top seed in the CONCACAF Champion's League tournament. If the game ends in a tie, there will be a 30-minute mini game played to determine the winner. If the mini-game ends in a tie, there will be a penalty shootout to decided who is declared champion of MLS.
    • The Dynamo and Galaxy have met once this season. In late May the Dynamo hosted the Galaxy and won the match 2-1 on a Brad Davis to Andre Hainault header in the 57th minute. This was a come-from-behind win for the Dynamo as Edson Buddle started the scoring in the 10th minute. Highlights of the game.
    No Trolling. No Flaming.

This is not a rivalries thread or forum. If you want to go that route, then post in the MLS Fans Rivalries forum -- don't bring it here. If you see trolling posts - don't reply to them. Instead, ignore the poster and just report the post and we'll get rid of it and deal with the troll appropriately.

PLEASE do not go to the Galaxy board and post anything. If you can't help yourself, use common sense.

    Dynamo all-time @ LAG:

    06/24/06 LAG 0-0 HOU
    09/10/06 LAG 1-2 HOU
    09/16/07 LAG 1-3 HOU
    04/19/08 LAG 2-2 HOU
    06/28/09 LAG 1–0 HOU
    11/13/09 LAG 2–0 (a.e.t.) HOU playoffs
    06/05/10 LAG 4-1 HOU
    05/25/11 LAG 1-0 HOU
11/20/11 LAG 1-0 HOU MLS Cup

So that's 2-5-2 overall with 8 goals scored and 13 allowed. We haven't won there against the Galaxy since 2007. Although that playoff game in 2009 sure looked like a win to me.

Ok so I had a dream……I was at the MLS Cup Final this year. It was being played in LA but it resembled something more like the Travis County Expo Center (We’re the Austin Ice Bats used to play). The grass was natural even though it was in something at resembled an old barn (remember, it was just a dream). The place was packed with mostly Dynamo fans. It was a crazy atmosphere everyone was going nuts every time the Dynamo touched the ball. Camagro ripped a shot in the 39th min making it 1-0. After the hysteria died down a bit and a conference between the ref and the assistant they ruled “someone” was offsides. Video replay confirmed the call was bogus. Halftime came and went. In the 88th min Adam Bomb hit a 25yd shot into the upper corner….the game winner! I woke up exhausted and lived every min of that game……Damn it was crazy!

Beckham's announcement yesterday that he's leaving LAG after this game to go play somewhere else adds another angle. That's probably all the media will talk about. Ok, fine. Let's send him off with that "Houston! Dynamo!" chant bouncing around his head.

I can't tell you how disgusted I am with the Second Leaving of Beckham. Already sick of hearing about it and its been a day. Didn't we suffer through exactly the same thing last year?

I've mentioned that since last year I keep watching MLS Kick Off page comparing the stories about LAG with everyone else. Well, forget about it today. The ENTIRE column is about Becks. I've never seen that in the years I've been reading it. This will be another game we come in and get a win while nobody is paying attention to us.
We are FOREVERORANGE and we don't care.

My main concern about facing the Gals is their counterattack speed. HD are no longer the plodding team of seasons past, but Corey plays far forward at times and can be caught out, while Kofi is still a relative noob.

IMO we need the strikers and wing mids to pressure LA's back line to prevent long balls out of the back to a streaking Donovan. And we need Rico to stick with Beckham like a high priced hair gel!

Keane is of course a threat, but our back line and Tally are pretty good at maintaining their own position and denying space so I'm guardedly optimistic about keeping Keane from scoring two or three.

Offensively, I like our chances. Davis and Boniek are better than anyone that the Gals have faced to this point. Bruin finds goals, he's not pretty, but he gets it done through positioning and determination. Carr creates problems for defenders with his speed and awareness. Moffat can pull the trigger from anywhere at any time, and of course there is Noodle Time on set pieces with BB and Andre. Probably for the first time ever I think the Dynamo actually have the players to outscore an opponent. Not just defend and pray for a set piece.

I'm really looking forward to this game. Obviously I'm a homer. But I truly believe that despite season points totals the two best teams are in the Final. Win or lose I think it's going to be a great contest.

Usually I have to write a depressing post, but I think that our record against them speaks for itself.

I think there are a couple of storylines that really matter:
-can we occupy Franklin and open up space=do we go with a 4-3-3?
-Will De La Garza be back?
-Can JT and BB.com handle Buddle and Keane making penetrating runs in the middle. Give Keene and inch and he'll burn you. Throw in Moffat and Rico (if healthy)- do you go with a 4-4-2 and play with the dual DMs to help out there?
-on our end-will Carr be ready to go? What about Rico? I knew it was groin way back in CHI, when I saw him grab his crotch and no one made contact with him, I immediately knew what it was. Speaking from experience, those injuries take a while to heal and you never fully know when you are. You may feel fine and then you tweak it again, which looks like what Rico did.
So do you go on the offense and play with a 4-3-3 and take it to them or play a 4-4-2 and try to limit them? Of course a lot of that depends on the personnel available. That's why Dom makes the big bucks. In Dom We Trust.

Rico and Moffat will have to be pivotal in this match. Beckham and Landycakes should be pressured in our half no matter what. Boniek and Sarkodie will need to be very disruptive to Donovon's runs, and need to be ready to look for the through ball when the Dynamo have possession. High pressure play in our half, or die.

I think Landy will disappear in the match. But I have a feeling Becks (being his swan song) and Keene will be the problem guys. I am also worried about Gonzales on Bruin. That is a key match up. Bruin can take Gonzales on the dribble if he has a good first touch-otherwise I give the advantage to Gonzo.

Our first team hasn't given up more than 1 goal since a September 23, 3-1 loss at Philly (I don't count the Rapids season finale simply because it was our reserve team playing, hence the caveat).

In the same time span, Team Circus Bex has given up multiple goals 3 times in MLS play (4 if you throw in CCL).

Whatever this game is, it won't be a goal fest. 1 goal will probably decide things.
