http://www.soccerbyives.net/2012/11/adu-okugo-m-farfan-go-on-training-stints-abroad.html This time is further defined as an "offseason training stint." But could it be more?
These types of things are always more, although the odds that it will result in an actual sale are very low, unless MLS lets him go on a free. Who would pay anything but the smallest of transfer fees for this underperforming guy?
I wouldn't be surprised if Philly let him go on a free, considering what a cancer he is relative to talent.
hmmm, I said this in mid-season, but what chance does Freddy Adu have to thrive under a coach that gets Danny Cruz and thinks, "I'll start him at forward in a 4-3-3..." I like Danny Cruz at DCU, but he was 90% speed, 50% hustle, 45% heart, and 5% technical ability. He seemed much more suited to right back than wide midfield. But forward? That's insanity...
Adu is not a cancer. He would probably go on a smaller transfer since Philly needs the capspace and they are far from contention.
Although, to be honest, I do miss the thrill of trying to find a second division stream link for a Turkish game.... Those were some fun days.
Hmm, a bit of dispute going on as to what this training stint actually entails: Turkish Reporter: Adu Training In Turkey, But With Private Coach, Not Galatasaray
Philly will sell for anything that isn't a straight rip-off. But the league gets the last word. I hope they realize that Philly really needs that cap space.
An Adu thread in YA? What with it being Thanksgiving and all, can't we just say that Turkey doesn't really qualify as abroad?
Mods, I would like to offer your health back. Given there will be rom ours of Freddy going anywhere from Chelsea to the top team in the third division of Andorra, I would like to humbly offer myself as moderator for this vivid and entertaining thread that will no doubt only be closed down in 7 months from now. Wadddya think?
I looked around a bit and it seems that Scott Piri is Galatasaray's fitness coach (see here), so I'm not sure why he's being called a "private coach". And then why would Adu go all the way to Turkey to simply work on his fitness, and not train with the team? Doesn't make much sense.
MLS should look to sell Freddy to FC Altyn Asyr in the Turkemistan First Division for a some rugs and land rights for natural gas.
I would agree that it doesn't make much sense to those of us on the outside looking in, but that doesn't mean it still wouldn't make sense if we had all the facts. Remember, where money is involved there are no coincidences. So, assuming that Adu could train for two weeks 'anywhere,' in cannot be a coincidence that he is training with Piri at Galatasaray. We just don't know what it means.
Wasn't Scott Piri a former fitness coach / trainer for RBNY? I seem to vaguely remember this guy's name coming up during the Euro '08 as a trainer for Portugal or Turkey.
nope. there is no empty seat in the club at the moment. yet Adu join to Turkish giant,> look what they(in the photo ,galatasaray club officials alongside j.lo) signed today : ] She signed to them too.
