I'd guess the plan is for a 50/50 year, with Shuttleworth #1 in 2014.

Dom Oduro is unhappy in Chicago. We could use the speed, certainly, we have almost none of it.

If they blow up Chivas USA, Osvaldo Minda (DM) is definitely a hard-nosed ball-winning #6 and Miller Bolanos could give us a little speed/skill up top.

    And no Flo next season.

I do not know how to quote tweets.

I asked, and McCarthy also seemed to indicate Cardenas was someone who would learn his fate today, but didn't have that info available.

I'd take him back. Even if he's just a 60th minute sub, I'd do it.

The kid makes like 80k. His salary would have to be cut like 25%

Are you suggesting that there could be league contraction at the expense of Los Goats? & is Orduro unhappy like, "I want to go to Europe" or unhappy like "just let me leave"?

He actually made $100k last year.

Regardless, that's actually not that much. What's the league minimum these days? $47,000? Point is, $100k for an offensive super sub is pretty standard if you look around the league.

The salary budget next year (w/o allocation) is essentially $3 million for 20 players. That's an average of $150k per player.

So Reis and Shuttleworth are both coming back and we're talking about using the #4 spot in the draft on a GK? So we'll have 3 below average GKs on our roster next year, none of which should be starting? Awesome.

Really can't see that happening. We should trade that spot for an established defender.

No--that Vergara & Co. are going to do a very thorough housecleaning and I'd bet some talented players are left without a team because of the new demand for Mexicanismo.

In other words, measurements other than their abilities as soccer players will be used to judge them, and that could only bode well for teams seeking to swoop in and pick up a decent player or two.

Cardenas didn't give us enough in terms of output to earn $100k, while Nguyen was at the league minimum (IIRC). He was an ok, not great, option off the bench. I need to see more end product. Nothing super about that sub.

yep, he was Nyassi 2.0. He was an improvement in ball control but still not a real threat to score.

In their year-end house cleaning, TOR parts ways with 6 players, COL with 7 (including Conor Casey).

The Revs? Only one. Goodbye, Flo!

While I do think Nguyen will get a new contract, I do also think that Cardenas should be bought back. I think he showed some talent, and I don't mind a $100k guy sitting on the bench (he's not a starter, IMHO). A really good guy to bring off the bench though, even at that rate.
I think the Revs have made more moves, to be fair. I just don't think they've announced all of them. McCarthy tweeted something about that yesterday, I believe.

    Oduro made~$107K
    Espindola made $125K

Both are rumored to be available, any Revs fans want either/both? What would you give up? Whos spot do they take?

Conor Casey would be an interesting option to bring in, if he was willing to take a significant paycut to come here (he made $400k in 2012). He didn't offer Colorado much in the way of production for what he's making, scoring just 2 goals this season, so I can see why they let him go. However, I think it would be an interesting thought to bring him here as a $100k bench option because the revs are still missing a strong, powerful presence in the box that can routinely win balls in the air and generally cause mayhem, creating opportunities for others. Casey would offer this by knocking balls down for Bengtson to poach, with Sene playing his false 9 role pulling defenders away towards the 18.

If Fagundez and Rowe would be able to put away rebounds and chances, I think Casey-on-the-cheap may add something to this offense.

Either one would be an upgrade on Cardenas off the bench. I like Oduro for his speed, he was always a thorn in the revs' side. Would be great to get him here, extra motivated to score against Chicago, and let him do his thing.

He has a big health question mark, but I agree that he'd be a nice pickup at the right price. If he can stay healthy I think he has a couple more productive years in him.
I've never been a big fan of his, but he does provide a lot of what this team is missing in physicality. Can't imagine him getting even half what he was making.

Espindola is an arsehole of the highest order.

Not sure his skills (albeit better than our current options) outweigh his attitude and personality.

I think both payers are good players, and both are very good at moments. How may times have people on this board said that what the club needed were solid MLS pros ( as opposed, for example, to overhyped prima donna DP's) who could come in and compete for starting positions. DO and FE are exactly that. Being able to play Oduro against slower defenders, or pair Espindola with Bengtson would sound interesting enough to me. I'm not holding my breath waiting for a goalscoring savior from outside the league.
Source? That's a pretty steep competition, even if you exclude Fire players from consideration.

    https://twitter.com/JamieHolsgrove/statuses/224265470163951617

FWIW, this was tweeted on the july 14th, Bengston had already signed(July5th looks like the official date). Interesting to see they still wanted to bring in another ST after they just signed Jerry.
Im hoping the BHB trio suprise us

I wonder if it's akin to the Vasquez/Cancela situation from years ago. We signed Vasquez in case we couldn't get Pepe to sign.

Then we got Pepe and Vasquez became an afterthought.

Maybe Bengtson was the real target, we made an offer to Gomes in case we couldn't get Jerry, and when Jerry signed, Gomes saw the writing on the wall and said, "no thanks". (Keep in mind Sene was still healthy at the time.)
