what about something like St. James Park? That has a road underneath it. https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&...92&ei=uTuoULmQJ6rg0gGu64DYDQ&ved=0CLsBEPwSMAc southwest corner shows what I mean
I've probably made a bad mental connection there, due to the fact we can get 20,000+crowds without actually having that many seats. IMO, the only way the Cauldron ever gets extended over the sidewalk is if every other expansion option has been exhausted, and KCMO is dangling enough downtown space in front of the team for a 30,000 seat stadium. Giant concrete pillars right next to a busy street are just not something your local planning commission is going to go for unless they are under a lot of duress.
Cesar, Hedrick, Markovic, and Warzycha waived. With Besler out of contract Collin and Olum the only two CBs under contract for next year.
OK so the waiver draft is today. We waived Ceasar, Hendrick Warczyha, and Markovic. 1. Does anybody else think that it is weird that the draft is before the cup, and before the cup teams even have a chance to waive anyone. 2. This waiver draft is all kinds of complicated. We aren't taking the options on these guys so if they aren't taken in the draft we will have an opportunity to resign the players to a new contract, and most likely a reduced salary for Ceasar, and Markovic.
http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2012/11/sporting-kansas-city-waives-four-players Not too surprised about Cesar - may see his contract renegotiated... shame about Cyprian, broke his leg and never got a chance. Wish we had more time with him. Really surprised about Markovic, really thought he had potential. And if we were dead set about having Warzycha in defense then I agree there, but thought he looked interesting in Midfield.
Bah, you both beat me... thought I could get one by on the almighty Buzz, but not only failed in that but came in 3rd as well. #Fail
I guess that's an incentive for a team to not make the cup? That's true about Markovic - I hadn't thought about him also reducing salary... but that makes sense too.
Markovic's salary, $90,000, isn't that high. You don't expose him if the coach really thinks he has a find. There's just not that much money to be saved. Vermes likes quick defenders who can get upfield and contribute offensively. Chance and Sinovic are all over the pitch, sending crosses into the box. The few times we saw him, Markovic looked big and slow to me.
Markovic probably has more to do with freeing up an international slot for these South Americans Robb has verbal agreements with.
At least as far as cap space is concerned, wouldn't Harrington be the target instead of Markovic? Admittedly, I am one of those who liked what I say with Markovic.
Ugh. I seriously hate the post editor on these new forums. My old off-season tracker is completely out of whack.
had a different impression on Markovic, from my perspective he seemed to be very fast and promising. Right now we are pressed fairly high against the cap by my count. 2.81M is not that much and shaving 10, or 20K here or there could add up to 100K would be the difference between Cesar and a DP.
Plus, the ladies Love how Markovic would take his shirt off and run around screaming after every game, tie or win.
Markovic is the only guy I would have liked to see stay, in the same way I really wanted to see what Zoltan could have offered. I'm really hoping Soony and Dom have matured to the point where they can start being a real component of this team, I sort of think they're next on the chopping block if they can't contribute meaningfully in 2013. Which isn't to say their added depth isn't contributing, but with the CCL and USOC we're going to need more than just bodies on the field.
Actually, the rules to the salary cap are fairly complicated. Only roster spots 1-20 are counted towards the cap, 19 and 20 are "optional" spots (meaning you can fill spots 21-30 before you have to fill 19 and 20), and GA players don't count towards the cap. With all those stipulations, based on the salary releases earlier this year and cutting Cesar, Markovic, Warzycha, and Hendrick, our current salary budget is: $2,063,301. We have almost $800,000 of cap space.
Okay, I'm a bit lost. The last few posts seem to imply that "waived" equates to "gone from team" whereas, I thought it also could mean "opportunity to renegotiate terms/wages" - since essentially, they become free agents. My secondary question is: Does MLS retain rights to the "waived" players? Or if they go un-selected in the waiver draft, does that make them free-agents to the world?
To my understanding, and it is complicated. it is out of contract or unexercised options years, or straight up waived. They are not free agents. If you pick someone up on the waiver draft you pick up his option years or their current contract. In out of contract players you have to give them an increase in salary. If they are not chosen in the waiver draft then the original team is free to renegotiate a new contract. We will see a few players across the league be pulled back by their teams on the next phase of the draft.
MLS is so weird on this. I always thought that players are "waived" when their contract options are not picked up, meaning they are out of contract. It seems as if MLS contracts are structured in such a way that once a club decides not to exercise a contract option, it floats that players contracts to the rest of the teams in the league, saying basically 'hey, does any one want to exercise the remaining options on this players contract?' If no one picks up the player, they become out of contract players who would be available as free agents to any club, anywhere. My question is what happens if a player's contract option is not picked up, but the player would rather renegotiate their contract with their current club, rather than enter the waiver draft? Would they be allowed to opt-out of the draft? Or would MLS force them into it, since their contracts are technically with the league and not the club? I guess bottom line is I think we could now offer new contracts to any of these guys if we wanted to, but so could any one else. I think.
Thx for this. Pls correct me if wrong, but we also have some undetermined amount of allocation money from our CCL placement don't we?
