Just for the hell of it, I hit up wikipedia to look at the top scorers from the top European Leagues. I was shocked to find so few Brazilians on the lists. What do you guys attribute this to? EPL: 0 in the top 14 La Liga: 0 in the top 10 Serie A: 1 in the top 11 (Hernanes with 5 is tied for 9th) Ligue 1: 0 in the top 10 Even the Primeira Liga which used to be dominated by Brazilians: 1 in the top 10 (Lima with 4 tied for 6th) The same lack of brasileiros can be seen on the assists charts also.
Cycle/coincidence. Brazil produces quality players to all the positions and roles, attackers/scorers definitely not excluded. But sometimes it just happens that many bloom simultaneously, sometimes then again that there is a drier phase. It won't stay this bad for Brazilian attackers for too long, I'd guess.
Maybe the rest of the world is catching up. No doubt the Brazilians perfected the game and the rest of us have learned their ways.
To complete your list I add the 3rd best League, the Bundesliga. Bundesliga: 0 in top 10 (best is Firminho at 14th)
It's a bad cycle, hopefully it won't stay like this for too long but nothing is guaranteed. If there is one thing to blame it could be the youth development process. Although I have no insight into the system.
Damiao, Neymar, Hulk, Lucas Moura, none of this players play in any of the leagues you mentioned and they are the best scorers for brasil. Pato is the other scorer that will be big time but he has been hurt too much. Once pato gets healthy he'll be the best 9 in the world. []__[]
There has been a kind of draught period for new (born 85-) strikers as mentioned. But also some players has returned home to Brasil, for example Luis Fabiano, Fred, Vagner Love and Adriano and some has went to arabia for example Ricardo Oliveira, Grafite, Nilmar. So there are some coinciding factors.
The number 9 position is slowly dying out I think, more and more teams are packing the midfield, expect a lot of forwards like Messi, C Ronaldo, Neymar and Attacking midfielders to score goals. I don't think a lot of teams can afford to have a player who just waits around the penalty area anymore.
And those teams are? This whole point doesn't make sense, somebody has to score the goals nontheless where on the pitch he's playing. But at least in Europe there are no Brazilians in the charts anymore - which is a bit sad imo.
Maybe the scoring will be spread out like the Spain team. As for Brazil, the players around are nowhere near as food as the players that were there 5-10 years ago. Where is the next Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka? I don't think Neymar is at their level. This period may be equivalent to Brazil in the 70s.
Most of Brazil's best players are playing in Brasil. Also most of them are young. We are recovering from the post Ronaldo era. We have alot of good players who are young Bernard,Neymar,Lucas Moura,Oscar,Adryan,I can go on. it is just these young guys are in Brasil. Give it 2-3 years it will change.
actually it was DYING since last form of Ronaldo, Nistelrooy Etoo between 06 to 08. DEAD since ...... (only Falcao's, Van Persie, and Ibra showed some good form there this year) we don;t see the likes Romario, Batistuta, Shearer, Pipo, R9, Nistelrooy, Crespo Vieiri Sheva Trezeguet Owen ... any time soon Actually inthis era, they rely on FOWARDS to score goals (no more striker in box) - Messi neymar CR7, Benzama, Ibravan Persie ... all are forwards (neither striker nor AM)
Yes I don't think top teams want a striker who just waits in the box, they want someone who has good all round play.
luiz adriano deserves a starting place on the NT after his goal today by any means necessary! http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideo...troversial-luiz-adriano-goal-v-nordsjaelland/
Luiz Adriano's ability is so mesmerizing that the defense froze. Never saw Romario or Ronaldo do that to a defense!
Agreed. Breaking "fair play" like that isn't against the rules. That said, a very douchy move by L. Adriano.
