Bradley would be carrying the ball forward as he did v. Russia, and Dempsey is a withdrawn forward. I think the people who have the Bradley-Jones-Williams triangle penciled in to their lineups are probably correct for the Honduras game. I suspect that Klinsmann will possibly go with that for the away games, particularly Honduras, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama. The one game he might not is @ Jamaica. My lineup is just the lineup we used to beat Antigua y Barbuda & Guatemala in the last 2 qualifiers, playing a 4-2-3-1 /4-3-3 with our new Brian McBride, EJ, as the wing forward, and including Donovan. We'll probably be more likely to see lineups without the 3DM triangle at home. jamaica is our 4th game, which comes after Mexico, quite possibly a loss. 1. I think we have Jamaica solved with this lineup, 2. Their stadium has a track around it, so the fans are back from the field and not all that intimidating, unlike the Central American countries & Mexico, and 3. We may want to push for the away win if we get 0 points against Mexico.
I think we can sneak out some points in this one. Honduras is very good at keeping possession but outside of that one match against Canada they are very inefficient with their chances. If we can keep our shape and focus on quick counters I think we have a chance for the full three road points. I am leaning toward one point though since our Defense is suspect. Something like a 2-2 draw we just witnessed in Russia.
I hate the fact that the only beIN channel here in the Portland area is in Spanish. This is so wrong that I can't watch the national team in English. Glad for the Spanish-speaking people, but sad for me. And these are WCQ's. Some other channel needs to step up or Comcast needs to provide beIN in English.
how many hondurans in mls???? so they're out of season too that should be a good time to cathc them bengston out of season.....graeat zusipdoesn't play the role jozy does gomez is fine with me, but jozy will come off the nencj gomez with donovan and dempsey withdrawn bradely, jones, williams fabian boca cameron dolo(but is he hurt if not chandler) howard good time to catch honduras give me 1-1 now and i'll take it jk know what the roster will be, not tellimng, who cares

We've looked pretty good with two forwards on the field, and we looked pretty good in a 4-2-3-1. The Guatemala game saw us really do well with Johnson as a winger/forward hybrid. I think we should stick to that model, for the most part, with Donovan taking Zusi's role. I think something like this would work: If Juergen persists with the 4-3-3/4-1-4-1, then we simply play the same lineup we started with aganist Russia, except throw Donovan and Dempsey in for Gomez and Gatt. We did produce chances against Brazil in the second half with such a lineup, so I'm curious as to what happen.
https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/...b-6-usa-honduras.1978122/page-2#post-26786379 Also as mentioned above Espinoza will likely factor into the Hex as well for Honduras but he might be transferred out of MLS this winter.
beIN is carried by DirectTV, DISH, Comcast, TWC and Bright House Networks. Some of the cable companies vary based on location in terms whether they carry the English, the Spanish or both versions of the channel. Some companies are offering SAP though so if you only get one language check into this, you might be covered via a SAP function.
beIN owns the rights. No other channel can show those games. The time for the other channels to step has come and gone for the Hex. You should not be posting here about this as we can't do anything about it, you should be contacting your local COMCAST provider and let them know. And the best weapon you have is that you can threaten to move to DISH or DirectTV.
Just posted the following linked info in the thread about needing CBs. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/...und-we-still-do.1976559/page-11#post-26788393 In a nutshell, Boca has a Grade II hamstring injury and will be out until January. At his age, and with how tricky hamstrings can be, I'd get your "Plan B" CB's lined up. Unfortunately. I sure hope Boca recovers quickly and returns to match shape by the end of January. I'm not enjoying the thought of Goodson starting next to Cameron, Edu may be months and months removed from active play by February, and Gonzo hasn't been work into the US team yet.
lloks like gooch is the answer???? best of bad options... unless we want to put jermaine jones on the backline which might be the best of bad options
GK: Timmy Howard, Brad Guzan, Sean Johnson DF: Timmy Chandler, Steve Cherundolo, Fabian Johnson, Eric Lichaj, Omar Gonzalez, Carlos Bocanegra, Geoff Cameron, John Anthony Brooks MF: Jermaine Jones, Danny Williams, Michael Bradley, Mikkel Diskerud, Landon Donovan, Josh Gatt, Clint Dempsey, Graham Zusi FW: Jozy Altidore, Herculez Gomez, Juan Agudelo, Terrence Boyd If we are intent on bring in the best 23, this is it right now. I think you can make a case for Rimando, Besler, Goodson, Edu, EJ and a few others, but as of now, this is what is the best 23. My starting lineup right now and if the match was played today: GK: Timmy Howard RB: Steve Cherundolo CB: Geoff Cameron CB: Carlos Bocanegra LB: Fabian Johnson DM: Jermaine Jones CM: Michael Bradley LW: Josh Gatt RW: Landon Donovan ST: Clint Dempsey CF: Jozy Altidore I think Bocanegra has a lot to worry about. Not only has he not been playing very well this year for the National Team, but he is not playing at a very high level now. Omar and John Anthony Brooks are definitely looking right over his shoulder. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bocanegra on the bench come qualifying time. Also, you can make an argument for Gomez instead of Jozy or Gatt. I personally think that if you are going to play Dempsey in a withdrawn striker role, you need a conventional speedster winger. I just don't like the idea of playing a striker on the wing. I also think Jozy goes better as a target forward if Dempsey is playing in a withdrawn role than playing two rather similar forwards together.
I just don't see many changes for the qualifiers, sure we will get Dempsey for either Herc or Jozy, Donovan for either Zusi or Gatt. The midfield will be the same. Most likely Goodson for BOCA if he hasn't recover. I see JK bringing the kids just in case we have a 2 goal cushion for the last 10-15 minutes of a game. Each friendly from here on will be the only chance for a newbie to break in to the 18 player roster for these qualifiers.
Here is my question, assuming Chandler will be capped, is he going to be sub on the right or a starter on the left and Johnson to the LM position?
boca strain takes 6-8 weeks toget fully healthy, so 4 weeks of play is needed for me, gatt, pontius and shea are 3 guys who will emerge in the early hex, and their wide play will help
More like 2 months to get back into Racing Santander's lineup, in order to show he will be match fit for a crucial Qualifier. If Boca hasn't returned to his club's lineup by the third week of January (8 weeks after his grade II hamstring pull), then I don't think he will be match fit in time for the US roster selection in the fourth week of January. The Honduras match is February 6, with the roster selected in the last week of January. It is certainly possible Boca can be ready. I really cannot judge if it is probable. Boca is 33 years old, hamstrings are tricky, and age does impact recovery time. So, JK better have his backup plan ready.
Well, a bit early, but we don't have anything else to do, so we might as well. 1) I think we will see some sort of January game/camp. But it will still be mostly MLS/Scandinavian players, plus maybe some Euros who aren't playing much (Edu/Gooch). 2) It's an away match, so I'd expect the 4-5-1 setup. 4-1-4-1 or 4-1-3-1-1. 3) Barring injury, I think the XI will come from this group of 15 or so: Howard, Dolo, Cameron, Boca, F. Johnson, Williams, Bradley, Jones, Donovan, Dempsey, Gomez; Altiodre, Zusi (if Donovan isn't playing), E. Johnson, Torres (if he regains form). 4) The February game is a stand alone game, I think we'll see a smaller roster: 18-20. And at Honduras also screams for some veterans. I think the younger guys are more likely to appear on the Home/Away matches with larger rosters. Though some movement on the bench is possible. Joining those 15 suspects: Guzan/Rimando, Parkhurst/Chandler/Castillo, Gooch/Gonzalez/DeMerit, Zusi/Shea/Beasley, Edu/Beckerman/Kljestan, Boyd. 5) My guess: --------------Howard-------------- Dolo--Cameron---Boca--F. Johnson --------------Williams------------- -------Bradley-----Jones---------- Donovan----Gomez------Dempsey Bench: Guzan; Chandler (or Parkhurst if he TC flakes), Goodson; Edu, Zusi, E. Johnson, Altidore Not active: pick 2 from: Beckerman, Kljestan, or 1 of Torres/Shea/Beasley.
here's hoping that Klinsy has the sense to give Besler and Gonzalez a fair shake in January.... Plus, Diskerud, Gatt, Johnson, DeLeon, Agudelo, and Pontius. Also, I would call in a larger line-up for this one given that we have some huge games between now and March. We may have to shuffle things around in the next few very important matches, and I do not want anymore scenarios of "who is going to play X" because of injuries or suspensions. So, this is my core group plus all the alternates I would look at until after the Gold Cup... meaning, i'd call in this group for Honduras and for Mexico/Costa Rica to get as much consistency and chemistry going as possible. (3) GOALKEEPERS: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, Sean Johnson (Rimando) (5) FULLBACKS: Fabian Johnson, Timmy Chandler, Steve Cherundolo, Michael Parkhurst, Edgar Castillo (Spector, Lichaj) (5) DEFENDERS: Carlos Bocanegra, Geoff Cameron, Matt Besler, Omar Gonzalez, Maurice Edu, (Goodson) (6) MIDFIELDERS: Danny Williams, Jermaine Jones, Michael Bradley, Graham Zusi, Mikkel Diskerud, Sacha Kljestan (Beckerman, Torres, Corona) (7) FORWARDS: Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Terrence Boyd, Herculez Gomez, Chris Pontius, Josh Gatt, (Shea, Gyau, DeLeon, Agudelo, Johnson) Starting XI v Honduras.... ------------Altidore-------Dempsey------Gomez------------ ----------------(Cpt) Bradley-------Donovan---------------- Johnson--------------------Williams----------------Cherundolo -----------------------TBA-----------Cameron----------------- -------------------------------Howard------------------------- Bench: Guzan, Center Back-TBA, Chandler, Jones, Kljestan, Zusi, Boyd *Note about Center Back: -Bocanegra would have been my starter given that Klinsy has tried out no other options. And the fact that I'm ready to drop the axe on Goodson. But he is injured. So, a lot is probably going to change between now and February. Hopefully, Besler and/or Gonzalez have a rise to stardom the way that Cameron did after January Camp 2012. *Yellow Cards -Who all is on Yellow that we need to watch out for? *Armband -I'm ready to give the armband to Michael Bradley. But it may go to Tim Howard.
