The owners know that Suarez is our only striker. The important thing is that Suarez wants to stay. That other clubs covet our players is something that will always happen. It is the players who really choose to leave or not. At least the top players. If a player wants to leave it is hard to keep him, similarly it is hard to buy a player if he does not want to leave his current club. Suarez is happy enough at LFC. He has made that clear. At some point in the future that might change but not yet.
With Messi being the exception, wouldn't take anything for Suarez. He is carrying this team like it's nothing
I think City's biggest need is someone like Howard Webb. They need a guy who can take complete control of a game and change it to Citeh's benefit. Yanited would probably want alot in return, but Webb is definitely the best available at his position. If Yanited want too much for him, Clattenberg and Halsey might be available too.
How much would he cost? How much would we get for Reina? Is he interested in moving abroad? Or for that matter joining a mid-table Prem team? Would he adapt to our style of play with the defence pushed forward? Admittedly I don't know much about the player so I took a quick gander at the German league to see that Gladbach have conceded the 2nd most amount of league goals they also have conceded 4 at home to Dirks Fenerbache. 20 is such a young age for a keeper, many of us thought that Kirkland or Carson were going to be greats for Liverpool but they never made the leap. De Gea who looked wonderful in Spain looks a nervous wreck at times for United.
Probably the 4th-5th best keeper in the Bundy, Gladbach's D is crap. Kid's got a much higher ceiling than De Gea, and he's young enough to learn any system. Our German friends can vouch for me, ForeverRed is supportive of ter Stegen as an option anyway. Obviously he isn't doing as well as he did last year and is a tad inconsistent at 20, but he's still already an excellent keeper, and I think he'd be fine. As for the cost, I think 12 million would get him. Reina's probably worth at least 8 or 9, so most of it would be covered.
And of course with that all being said, I should say that I still admire Reina, and I don't wanna give up on him until we've seen enough bad form to come to that conclusion. I think it'll take the whole season to make that judgement. He's been here a long time, has done some great things for us, and has been extremely loyal, so he's earned the season at the very least.
Fair, you wouldn't want to take the risk. Completely understandable, but personally I'd definitely be willing to chance it.
Yep, and most of the lurk on this and similar sites and tw@tter, then repoprt and rehash all the rumours and wish-lists and peddle them as facts.
Why only a season? He has been loyal to us through the Hicks and Gillette regime was touted by arsenal and united at a certain point and even though we had a shoddy project he stuck by us and gave it his best. One bad season by one of our most loyal non-English players does not warrant a selling. We need to show some loyalty towards him.Excellent, I repeat, Excellent goal keepers are rare and we do not want to be losing out just because of one poor season (ask United). He has been here since 2005 is dedicated to the cause and is loved and liked not only for his effort on the pitch but an all round effort as a player and individual.
O K this is the winning post of the last month at least. What kind of Liverpool supporter would throw out a steadfast player like Reina, for what Jones?
Great keepers have rough patches throughout their careers. Cech, Casillas, Buffon have all had problem periods (I've shamelessly stolen this line of thinking from Football Weekly). Let's see how Pepe responds to this underwhelming period before throwing him under the bus and buying a replacement. He could have left a few years ago when it was clear the core of the team was disintegrating (Xabi, Torres, etc.).
Mancini flat out denies there will be a move for Suarez. The rumors are not true and he doesn't know where they come from. He admires Suarez for being a top player who plays for Liverpool but he's not interested in a move and is happy with his squad. Funny note: he entered the press conference wearing a mask of David Platt. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20354796 Mancini sounds tired of addressing rumors that crop up during international breaks.
Apparently Stewie is on his way out: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...rpool-transfer-gossip-stewart-downing-1438537
Definitely. 70 K a week...sheesh. Who thought that was a good idea???? I wanted him to succeed. Something just failed to click for him here. Maybe he should play abroad somewhere.
I hope that is true. One of the most unambitious players I've ever seen in a long time. He's been overtaken by two teenagers in the pecking order, been publicly given the hurry up by the manager slated by the fans, and yet has done bugger all about it. Absolutely nothing. You know he came on against Newcastle and at the death when we were searching for a winner, a perfectly weighted ball was floated to him in the box and he pulled out of a 70-30 challenge. The Kop gave him an earful but he just sauntered back to the half-way line.
TBF he also put in a pin point cross to Shelvey which should of been the winner and won a couple of corners through determination. You could probably have mentioned a dozen more games other than Newcastle one to make your point though. He deserves to leave as he has been a huge disappointment with no future at the club. Its a pity that this season both Suarez and Kuyt are back to their regular scoring habits and Carroll is actually playing really well at West Ham allowing the three behind him to score. He's been poor but also unlucky in that even the sometime decent service he supplied went wanting. Horrendous signing, but not entirely his fault as we just didnt know how to utilize his strengths to suit our game.
Could have mentioned other games but the Newcastle one is the most recent one that I saw, and shirking out of a challenge in which he had a higher probability of getting the ball encapsulated the man. And since when is winning corners mean you're good footballer? Funny thing with Downing-- it's always somebody else's fault, isn't it?
Even if we can't get Ter Stegen, theres a ton of talented goalkeepers to pick from in Germany, one is bound to say yes right?
So....basically you're saying that Walcott is better than Sterling? That's just......insane. Sorry but it's the truth. I would have to agree that Suso should become a squad player by Jan, he's just not ready. Rumours going about that we could have Ince back in Jan on a net 3.5 million deal. It woulnd't be bad business, i mean how many top players will we be able to attract, specially if all clubs will look to rip us off?
Love me some Sterling but he's simply not as good as Walcott. Not yet anyway. Anyone who says otherwise needs to take off their Red-tinted glasses.
