Would've made more sense for Greg to get his quotes and info straight from the AZ website. http://translate.google.com/transla...nl/index.php?id=27&newsid=276920&folderid=222
"This season there are often scouts from big clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at AZ in the stands." Considering these clubs scout every living player in Europe the World, what's so special here?
He's tied for second on the Eredivisie scoring charts right now, it's a no brainer that there's interest.
It's not certain if those scouts are there to see him, but yes he will have offers if he keeps going.
Can we change the title. It doesn't say they are scouting Altidore. It says 'This season, there are often scouts of big clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the AZ grandstand." There are more than one player on AZ Alkmar, they are always playing other teams which have players on them and who presumably are being scouted. And it probably a safe bet there is alot of 'scouting' going on in the Eredivise. Its one of the great producers of talent.
The best part of the article is where it says that Jozy would rather stay at AZ and continue to develop his game there, there was a late bid from an Eastern European club (Spartak Moscow?) which means the interest is real. I don't think Jozy will be leaving AZ before the WC, he probably wants to increase his goal total. Article like these are very common all over the world, in fact they don't even mention club names or late bids. The tiles are usually "----- ----- has been linked to Man U", followed by a brief an airport interview where the player says he hopes the move works out.
Greg said this earlier. This response was about Jozy, not the rest of the team. How about getting the full story before wanting to change the title?
It's probably true, but having a scout watch a player is a long way from solid interest, as for clubs that size with extensive scouting networks, their scouts probably watch hundreds of, if not more, players every year. For example Man Utd have scouts all around the World (including a team of scouts in Holland)and every year they're asked to create a list of the top 5 players in each position in their league. As a young player who was among the Eredivisie's top scorers last season, it's natural that big international clubs' local scouts would at least pay a visit to Alkmaar to see if Altidore was worth flagging as a potential target to their employers. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he is a major blip on the radar of these big clubs.
Then why not put it in the article with no uncertain terms. Or provide a link to further clarification. What quote did you use? Even if you provide a link. I've seen Altidore and I've seen Barcelona, Chelsea, BM and there aint' no way he's going there nor should he. Scout all you want, there shouldn't be an actual offer and if it is, Jozy needs other teams not those. Remember Villareal Jozy?
It's on NSC's in the comments section. No one is saying Jozy should go to those clubs, but it's clear evidence of the attention he's drawing, and if those clubs are scouting him the logical assumption would be a number of other lesser teams are as well, as he'll have options. It's not so much because you hear Chelsea is scouting him that you think, damn, he can't play at Chelsea now, it's more tha if Chelsea is scouting him, it's more than likely a club like Everton and Moyes is as well, and a club like that might represent a better option for a next step. It means Jozy will have options, not that UCL clubs are his only option.
I don't get people's cynicism about this. Jozy is young, talented, and continually improving. The goals he's scoring are quality. Top clubs are going to scout and express interest in players that are playing at a high level. The article is about being scouted, it's not about offers. Those will surely come if he continues to stay on form. IIRC, all players that scored 20+ goals in the last season in Eredivise moved to a different league and Jozy is certainly on his way to do that, he's on pace to score ~27 league goals. What club wouldn't be interested in a player performing that well?
Jozy is on the right path. He is working his way through leagues and improving. Not unlike Michael Bradley has done. He'll get scouted for sure, and when he's scoring goals like his last golazo in the league, he'll continue to get looks from clubs with money. Like Bradley, Jozy is likely to be picked up out of the dutch league and moved on to a larger club. That's what happens when you top a league in scoring. Jozy seems to like to visit different countries to play, so maybe he'll go to Germany or Italy next. Though I imagine that Englishmen see a little Heskey in the guy and may be drawn to his capacity for physical play.
Why donot you ask Earnest himself? I provided a link ment for AZ fans to ask the management questions in the Stewart thread. Qestions you have you can email to vragendirectie@az.nl
Orly? NSC More to the point for our beloved USMNT, the likes of Gomez, Agudelo, Johnson, Boyd, Wondo and all the various other candidates who have been floated out as a better option to lead the line for us, have not and will not even get the slightest hint or whisper of this type of interest anytime soon, because Jozy is head an shoulders better than all of our other options at forward. It is time for some people to come to terms with the fact that Jozy is the best player right now and the best prospect for the future, that we have at forward.
