Should be a doable match...hopefully the rest most of the Bayern had will pay off this weekend..

Maybe give Lahm and muller a rest for this one? Considering a very tough CL next week..

a draw could be ok in a similar game, we always have troubles with Nürnberg, as u can see Kicker says Tymo will be a starter, after this match we go in Valencia next tuesday and another draw could be good cause in the last match we'll smash Bate and win the group, of course I hope to win, we'll see......
-delete Badstuber from the Reservbank, he's not still fit-

No thanks.. Get Martinez out there so he's used to the game, we need attackers in this game not someone like Tymo who plays like a third CB.

What is it with you that says in every single game thread that we can't win or we can settle for a draw ??

    Really don't understand that ...

Cant Martinez pair Dante in Defence? I heard he used to play the position

We are going to Valencia next week and anything to avoid the Soldado vs Van Buyten situation should be considered

He played CB with Dante in the most recent cup match. Is Gustavo still out with a knock? He missed the past two matches.

There's a video of him dribbling the ball with Dante and Rafinha, so I would imagine he's started team training a few days ago. I would still start Martinez though and then start Gustavo in the important Valencia tie.

Badstuber should be back for the Valencia game. I thought van Buyten looked very solid last weekend considering it was his first game since May 18+1. It was amazing to see how our set pieces went from crap to dangerous as soon as he entered the field.

Its really sad that he is the only player who is dangerous on set pieces. What the heck are we doing during practice?

Our offensive set piece matters but IMO not as much as what we would lose in defensive 1 vs 1 in hostile Mestalla should vanBuyten be involved

The Mestalla game is very key and we need to avoid a loss. A loss might mean us in 3rd place with just one gameweek to go

Modern football aka Barcelona football everyone wants us to play doesn't care about Set pieces.
"Bayern scored a header" is a bad word

Well Van Buyten.. There's no other choice. You could say Martinez but he's been struggling in DM in Europe in his natural position (away to BATE and Lille), so putting him against a more quality opposition in an away match in his 2nd position seems too much of a risk. We have to do away with Buyten and hope Gustavo is in form defensively..

    :(

Martinez has been improving in midfield and I no longer see any advantage Gustavo has over Martinez. Not even defensively.

Plus, Javi has much more experience playing at La Mestalla.

It is kind of silly to play a CB based on goal scoring ability, especially considering how much of a liability he is against quality attackers.

I have no problem with van Buyten against 1. FCN, but Soldado would eat him alive in Valencia.

We might as well just pass the ball short every time like Barca so we can avoid the almost certain counter attack that comes from our corner kicks now.

Martinez has been crap defensively (in CL) and even in a match we totally dominated he screwed up vs Lille to allow Kalou the goal. I can't see how you're saying he is as good as Gustavo defensively. His defensive performance every game excluding the Valencia tie the first match has been uninspiring. 2 horrible performances followed by a good one with a huge gaff.

He has no business playing in away CL matches for quite some time until he proves otherwise which btw he has not. It may even be Bayern's way of rotating in the KO stages home (Martinez) and away (Gustavo).

The Kalou goal was a wonder goal and Javi was applying the correct pressure. If anything Boateng should have stepped up and made a challenge.

Javi is far superior on the ball and doesn't have nearly as many turnovers as Gustavo does every match.

Not to mention attacking movements come to a grinding halt every time Gustavo gets the ball. His only offensive weapon is his shot.

Gustavo will get plenty of playing time, fret not. Jupp is a big Gus fan.

Ehh no he was not, he was clearly beaten by his man and the goal was completely his fault. I know his attacking play and overall the team plays smoother when he is on the field, but that doesn't change that he was Bayern's worst player in the last 2 away CL matches and you say he is as good as Gustavo defensively, which is not correct. The team playing well offensively =/= to Martinez being better defensively.

You really need to get off the BS Gustavo hate, I myself was never a fan of his but I can at least accept he is a monster defensively in games where we need him to be. You even said are looking at Can potentially replacing him in 3 years... Seriously?

I am not fretting, but basing his performances based on his CL results and how he's played. If he becomes good enough to play for Bayern in away CL matches this year, it can happen during the KO stages.

    My guess.

Neuer - Lahm, van Buyten, Dante, Alaba - Tymoshchuk, Schweinsteiger - Robben, Kroos, Ribery - Mandzukic

Javi made 2 transatlantic flights and played 90 minutes midweek and Gustavo is coming back from injury. Perfect time to give Tymo some minutes IMO.

No matter how we try to avoid this Van buyten in crucial games situation It still finds a way to come back

    Hahaha oh man, that's funny.

Javi is right with Kalou. Who is Boateng marking? The grass? Look at his weak attempt to block.

Not much you can do against strikes like that anyways.

That's an over exaggeration if I've ever seen one. Multiple players were worse than Martinez in Belarus. Gustavo had a shit match that day too.

Gustavo is too inconsistent and gives away possession far too often to be anything other than a role player for a top club IMO.

He had a couple good games away in Europe but doesn't follow it up with anything except mediocrity at best.

His games in Milan and Madrid have caused Gustavo to be vastly overrated.

His pass directly to Oezil in our defensive third while under no pressure created Madrid's first goal. He didn't have nearly the great match that many think.
