Iran was clearly the better team today, but the better teams don't always win. I for one still think Iran overall is still better than the Uzbek team but the gap is getting smaller and one game does not define your true strength. Iran failed to capitailze on their many opportunities. I however disagree with Mani regarding the referee- both calls were fully legit and some Iranian players were lucky to get away with no yellow cards. It just seems the Uzbeks wanted the victory more and depite missing out four key play makers they pulled it off.
Note: Ali Karima is not a factor since he was absent in the SK game and Iran yet won.

I just want to make it clear that not all Iranians are Persians and not everyone from Arab countries are ethnic Arabs. There are lots of Iranian with Arab ethnicity and many Arabs with Persian background (especially in Kuwait, Bahrain, and in Eastern Saudi). I for one have nothing against Persians and in fact respect their rich history and culture, and heck I'd side with an Iranian over an Arab any day if the Iranian/Persian was correct. Lets stick to the topic.

Join the conspiracy Club, and start bashing Arab refs and by extension Arab countries and team for all your ills. I'm sure its not because you guys always under estimate your oponents, and get shocked when some team gives you a close fight because just maybe that team too wants to win. Your players and coaches are never at fault.

I really hope Uzbekistan qualifies because our stupid referees always destroyed their chances (vs Bahrain in 2005, vs Iran in 2012@Tashkent).

For Tashkent game, it was the first game. If we were loser of that match we still had 7 matches to make up for that one. The second leg was more important. The winner could guarantee its direct qualification. In that situation, the referee should careful more and AFC should put better referees. (I still believe the Arab referee did it on purpose and this is the only thing it hurts me)

You are right. We should have got better results against Qatar and Lebanon but Portugal under CQ could not beat Albania at home and lost to Denmark at home at the beginning but they did well in heir final games and qualified for the WC. They had fair referees for last games. So I do not agree with you here. So based on those explanations, I blame referee for this WCQ.

tbh I blame our federation first because of not choosing right person. CQ was only good number 2. They should saw his resume as first person, not only he is a big name. After Lebanon game, Ali Daei mentioned that too. He said Feeration choose the manager and they should be blamed for team failure. For example F. Rijkaard has great resume as first person and the reason for Saudi Arabia failure in this WCQ was not him. Saudi Arabia results in last Aian Cup proofs it. So it is good Saudi Arabia have long term plan with him. He is able to get Saudi Arabia to good place. WE should have hired someone like him.

The Japanese referee had only one big mistake and it was not on purpose. This referee from UAE had many mistakes against us. Not only for our correct goal, even Uzbek goal was not foul. I do not why I am almost confident that he did it on purpose because Arabs (Not All) are always against Iran. These are fact and I do not think anyone denies them.

Dohahah, If there was only one or two big mistakes I could take it. Look at the mistakes:

Gucci head was offside by referee. Wrong decision and one of our a few chances

    Not accepting our correct goal

Uzbek player should have got red card

Not giving two free kick and corner to us

Uzbek goal was not foul and there should not have been free kick for it.

    Many other mistakes too

I always try to be logical. You can see that in my previous comments but all of these mistakes by referee in a game is suspicious. Is not it?? Iran an Uae do not have good relationship because of Abu Musa island and other issues. So when we see all those mistakes against us you should accept that there is high chance that the Arab referee had something against us. So you should not try to convince others that they think we Iranians are looking for excuses most times my friend.

I am also surprised in FB that some Iranian fans are saying that our players grassrolled. Why do we need this, when we came to Azadi to win, not even draw? I haven't noticed any of our doctors on the field neither after the goal nor even in the hole second half. They were once in the first half, when Server Djeparov got injured after head to head collision with an Iranian defender.
If anybody since think that we grassrolled, he just can give us a video of that episodes, or say the minutes, I would love to watch them too.

Further disscussion is really meaningless. Uzbekistan beat us. Lets leave it at that because anything else is irrelevant. And I urge my fellow Iranian posters to drop this useless back and forth.

Congratulations to Uzbekistan and good luck in your future games.

There was a clear foal from your side, and referee whistled before our player elbowed Iranian player (and I doubt that he did it intentionally, he just stand up and came to apologise). just watch it here: min 25:00

Aziz Haydarov, the guy who came to press conference of Iran - Uzbekistan match in AFC CUP 2007 with a piece of paper in which it was written 'Go Home Iran' )). Seems that he really 'like' iranians :). Anyhow, nobody supported his attitude at that time, and our coach Inileev apologised from Iran for that incident.
I think it would do no harm if you seek your defeat not only from the referee and our players but also from your team and coach. 2 goals in 5 matches, is this really that Iran that we used to known? I still can't understand why Nori who was playing excellent was substituted to a player who was not seen on the field. After that change Iran lost the ball in the midfield, I couldn't see any organised attack to our sides, on the other hand we played more organised with almost no mistakes. Once again hard luck and Good luck to next matches!!!

Okay, I have rewatched the disallowed goal a couple of times. Anyway, IMO, the call was questionable but it was NOT a clear-cut goal. It could be interpreted that there was interference.

TM's Results in this WCQ round

Game 1) Played horrible. Ref came to our rescue and we won. It was also an issue of Uzbekistan not putting away their chances.
Game 2) Played horrible. Tied 0-0 with Qatar at Azadi.
Game 3) Played horrible. Lost to Lebanon. Created many chances. But failed to put them away.
Game 4) Played okay. Beat Korea by a single goal from our brave boy with gheirat that got the needed result with 10 men
Game 5) Played good for about 30 minutes. Created one quality chances and scored but that was ruled out. Call was questionable but not clear cut.
The sad thing is that our expectation for TM has been so low that TM fans regard yesterdays game as "we played well". Well we played well for 30 minutes or so.

Let's say that goal was credited. Then TM would have scored 3 goals in 5 matches. That is NOT what WC caliber teams do to teams like Lebanon, Qatar, Uzbekistan and Korea. A WC caliber team (that hopes not to be humiliated in the WC) should be scoring at least 5 goals over 5 games against these opponents.

So our midfield lacks creativity. Apart from Ashkan of course.

And how can you explain Argentina's recent scoreless draw against Saudi Arabia, whom in fact aren't even playing in any of these qualifier AFC groups, due to early elimination ?

Oh, they sure must not be, a WC caliber team.......

More important than not scoring much, is how many times you get scored against, and not only against top opposition, but against anyone as well.

In another point, the previous play, before the suposed goal, was perfectly called out by the assistant referee. It was an "offside" even bigger, than the beautiful Azadi stadium. Not calling it out, would have been shame.

Hopefully you recognize the difference between a friendly and a competitive match. And please don't compare Argentina's national team to TM! Iranians get happy when we make the WC! Argentinians get happy when Argentina wins the WC. That's the difference. And that is a one time deal. If Saudi Arabia even plays Spain 100 times, it will possibly beat Spain 1 time. So I'm not as much interested as a particular result but rather a pattern of results and the performance of our team (whether we are creating chances, whether we are finishing the chances we are creating at a reasonable rate, whether we are dominating the possession/midfield, whether we are preventing teams from attacking us, etc).

We actually aren't getting scored on that much at all. We have given up 2 goals in 5 matches. That's not that bad. We held Korea goal-less (which is very impressive IMO). TM's problem is not how many times we are getting scored on. I think our problem is our offense.

Nurafshon Bro, we are talking about this game not our last 4 games. I could take two or three big mistakes by referee but look at the mistakes:

    Calling Gucci head offside! WTF?
    Not accepting our correct goal
Your goal was not even right because the referee should not have given free kick to your team.
Not giving red card to Tursunov who did not play clean football
    giving yellow card to Dejagah
Not seeing our corner in final minutes and other mistakes too

Based on all those mistakes, Do not we have right to think that this Arab referee from Uae did everything on purpose because of Arab and Persian old Rivalry, bad Iran and uae relation because of Abu Mosa island, and other issues? I just think this match should be investigated and IFF are trying for it. We have right to know if those mistakes were on purpose or not.

You said the reason why I hate A. haydarov. Why he did that in 2007? Did he talk about it? Hugging or jumping referee!!! He knew that they won by referee. What we have done to him that he is always against us?

About our substitution, I said CQ absence will hurt the team. Our substitutions were wrong.

As well as I said before CQ was hired because he was big name. He was good to figure out young players. He is great assistant coach in senior level. Unfortunately he is not number 1 in senior level. This was the most important thing before hiring any coaches but our failure federation did not pay attention to it. A. Daei mentioned that after Lebanon game.We should have hired someone like Pekerman or hiddink. If it was impossible we should have continued with our Asian cup coach or hiring A. Ghalenoei or Kranjcar.

Congrat for making the WC with Korea and hope you represent Asia well. Iran needs to enjoy the rest of qualifier w/o stress and have new federation and coach to build a team for next Asian cup. These are all I can say.

My friend, Chile did the right job to sack its coach. If I was the president of Chile football, I would have sacked him earlier based on the results he got. I did not hire CQ if I was the president of IFF. I believe he should have been sacked after goalless draw against Qatar. Iran Chile in Play off is not impossible but there is no guarantee that we beat the third team of other group especially with this coaching staff. Anyway, good luck in your next games.

Argentinians also get happy when they make the WC. It may seem to you as if their qualifiers were just a "walk in the park", but believe me, they aren't. Almost every time they have made it, they've have had to "sweat blood" in the process of making it, and many times they had been at only one step of being eliminated, as well, and only making it in the very last match-day of their respectful qualifiers. Only once in the WC, they start thinking in winning it (the only times when they really believed they would win it, in advance of the tournament being held, were in 1958 and 2002, where in both occasions they were eliminated in the first round)

I just say Thank God Iran is not in our group. Avoiding all the Iranian crap about Anti-Arab comments, bad refereeing excuses, and mentioning their past "Ancient" football history over and over again... is truly a BLESS. Feeling sorry for the other teams in Iran's Group. hehehe XD

By this comment, you are trying to avoid the fact that how referee cut Iran head many times in this game. It was an Arab referee from Uae. Look at some mistakes:

    Calling Gucci head offside! WTF?
    Not accepting our correct goal
Your goal was not even right because the referee should not have given free kick to your team.
Not giving red card to Tursunov who did not play clean football
    giving yellow card to Dejagah
Not seeing our corner in final minutes and other mistakes too

So stop to persuade ppl that we are making bad comments about Arab. We are making the comments for referee in our game yesterday and how it is possible to have that much mistake in the game by referee.

I dont care about your match
I dont know & dont care who Gucci and Dejagah are
and defiantly I dont care about the UAE referee

I've been 7 years in this forum, I gave my statement based on a long term knowledge of Iranian members behaviors. Not all Iranian like what I mentioned above of course , but still the Majority are like that. I just gave a visit to your thread and guess what, I just saw what I've expected. ^_^

If Iran don't qualify......i have a feeling there won't be talk of "We need to improve, we simply weren't good enough this time", it'll be more like "ref robbed us of wc blah blah, if it weren't for the ref we'd be the greatest in asia".

At the end of the day, to qualify through Asia, bad refereeing is a part of it it's not something that's only ever happened against Iran. Japan deal with it EVERY round, Korea deal with it EVERY round and they qualify all the time. Sure be pissed off when the ref screws up, but to get there the team has to be better than that and just get the points. Because qualifying against bad and suspicious ref's is a part of AFC. Deal with it!

When a referee steal the place of a team in one match, do not expect we quickly talk about improvement in the future. There were tons mistakes against us in that game. So it is hard to take that defeat. Accept that even one decision by referee can kill the chance of a team. That has nothing to do with improvement or we were not good. (Remember France Ireland game in 2009) It was not two or three mistakes there were many mistakes.

After WC 2006, we had no federation for more than one year. The new federation made many wrong decisions and destroyed the football. He will not most likely stay for a long time. We even said in PFDC, we need to have new federation with new coach to build a new team for future. Congrat to Korea and Uzbek in our group for qualification. We should try to enjoy the rest of qualifiers and look for future.

One big mistake beside other mistakes like appointing Daei and Ghalenoei at young ages and not letting them to stay in their job (Afshin Ghotbi appointment and removal were wrong. These are ideas that most our fans have):

As well as I said before CQ was hired because he was big name. He was good to figure out young players. He is great assistant coach in senior level. Unfortunately he is not number 1 in senior level. This was the most important thing before hiring any coaches but our failure federation did not pay attention to it. A. They are better because of many reasons. No one deny that but we are not talking about this. We are talking about referee in yesterday match and It was very suspicious that he killed us on purpose.
