guys that stand out to me-DeLeon for ROTY
    -Collien for DOTY
    -Nielson-GOTY
-Wondo for MVP? Probably by not showing up in the playoffs he proved his worth.
Us for fair play!? Ha MLS-that would be fitting since they called us on Extra Time a few days ago, "a bunch of goons". I guess we're nice goons. Come to think of it, I knew a bunch of guys in Jersey growing up that were nice goons (when they weren't making witnesses disappear).

Surprised no Garcia on newcomer list. Also would make a case for Dom as COY: start 7 on road still make playoffs, up in ECF, CCL advancement, and undefeated in all competitions at home.

Perhaps the team needs to borrow EB's "No One Likes Us, We Don't Care" banner.

Besler has been better for KC. A. Collin has been poor for KC over the last half of the season. I know Coach of the Year usually goes to coaches that are part of the best teams, but I think doing more with less is the better criteria. So I don't really like Vermes much here. I lean towards Klopas, but also consider Arena for the coaching he did in the first half of the year not to get his team to panic and still get some points. Maybe I am crazy though or I overrate Gonzalez?

I could see the Klopas or Arena arguments but I think the team has to win something or go deep in the playoffs to be in consideration so Arena should be mentioned. I agree that Collien had a bad second half (after the ASG injury) but overall I would give him the nod over Besler, although it would be close.

Well, the list is actually compiled at the end of the season so I don't think playoffs really count - or could even be considered. Personally I omit Arena based solely on the first half of the year as a complete underachievement given that roster. Frankly I still think the job Dom did during the season was more impressive than any of the current nominees. To be honest, JM in Montreal did a phenomenal job as well, until being canned for not agreeing with the vision.

Your roster consists of both your offensive firepower and your defensive firepower. The Big 3 started out the season missing games, etc. Not to mention that your roster includes both your offensive firepower and your defensive firepower. Gonzalez' injury exposed the defense for what it was --- ordinary other than Gonzalez.

I totally agree about JM in Montreal and I would use him as the #3 above Arena/Klopas. Totally slipped my mind.

As for Dom, I would rate him below Yallop for sure this year, but you could easily argue he is having as good a season as anyone on the board. His problem is his GM is too good.

this is bullsht! we have a rep to protect! why u new Dynamos make Eddie Robinson cry?

Fair Play awards at most tournaments usually go to those who poop out in the first round and don't have enough games to accumulate enough yellows. i demand Cam Weaver come in at the 93rd minute and go BERSERKER on sunday.

I would definitely say Ian Anderson deserves assistant referee of the year. It's not easy to haul ass up and down the sidelines with a flag in one hand and a flute in the other.

Other coaches come and go, but Dom consistently is successful yet never even gets mentioned as a candidate for Coach of the Year. WHY?

He's like Brad Davis, people tend to take them for granted. Nobody notices when they do amazing work, because people expect that from them, however, if they mess up everybody notices. It's the curse that comes from being that damn good.

I'm still amazed at the selection for GK of the Year, especially if Nielsen doesn't win it.
And while I have nothing against Dan Kennedy his stats are not even close to Tally Hall, unless this is a make-up award for having to play on that cluster**** of a team in 1/2 of the HDC.

We'll talk about it Sunday Morning!!

That is exactly the reason he is up for the award. With Kennedy you get ridiculous highlight reel saves. With Hall you get solid positioning, great composure in his box/aerial presence on crosses, great organizing of his defense with the occasional highlight reel defensive play.

IMHO, just look at the number of saves Hall has had that have been Save of the Week worthy. Very few. But Kennedy has 3-4 a game because his team and the defense in front of him is terrible.

Brad Davis apparently finished fourth in MLS MVP voting, ahead of Henry.

Yet he didn't make the Best XI...

(not that I really care, but it's noteworthy)

These year-end awards often tend to have some oddities, but this year just seems more so. There's also the Newcomer award, for which Boniek wasn't even on the list, and that Higuain won. The guy had a great week and a half or so, but that was about it. And the Comeback award continues to be something of a mystery. None of this stuff really matters much, but it's a bit of pub talk.

Tough choice for Newcomer of the Year for me.

It's a toss up between Higuain and Gspurning.

(Edit: I see that in Anderson's post that Higuain already won it. Can't argue with that.)
