this moves us into a group of very winnable games coming up that we can hopefully take advantage of and move up the table. wigan home swansea away spurs away southhampton home west ham away villa home stoke away QPR away sunderland home only one match in that stretch against the 'top 6' and four against the relegation candidates. these will take us through the 'festive period' and into the january window, where we will then play the mancs on Jan 13th.
In. MUST WIN. Will we have to hear about how Roberto Martinez turned down LFC for the privilege of managing Wigan again? Or will Whelan come up with something even more inane? We could all use the comedy relief.

Got lots here mate. http://www.logoguru.co.uk/blog/history-epl-club-logos/ And you can always find some fun additions on line. Better than the boring selection these lazy mods put up....Oops..
very, very true. i do think these can be a good barometer on our development under rodgers. it seems we've managed to turn the loses into draws. hopefully, in this stretch, we can start to turn the draws into wins. three of our 'bogey' teams in there, though -- villa, stoke, wigan.
We've had a winnable stretch of games a lot of the most recent "Holiday Stretches." Everyone expects to us to get X points from Y games. I just hope we're in 10th by Jan 1.
Appropriate cliche. Here's another cliche: Hopefully the folks in Anfield treat each game like a cup final. During similar stretches in the past the atmosphere in the stadium has seemed to be one of comfort and inevitability that we'll win. Then panic when that doesn't happen. And then ultimately frustration. Things have been different this season as expectations have been managed. But the players are tired at this time of year and they need to be able to draw on energy from within Anfield. And the referees need to be influenced. And the opposing players need to be intimidated.
The loss to Wigan in 2009, which effectively ended our title chances, ranks among the most gut-wrenching I've experienced in my sports fandom career. I quite literally got sick from it. So yeah, let's beat Wigan from now on.
I assume you mean the January draw? We didn't lose to them in 09. I donno I still attribute our failure to win the title that year to the inexcusable loss @ Middlesbrough and the highly entertaining but extremely disappointing 4-4 home draw to Arsenal in the midst of the epic end of season run.
Ha, the fact that I remember it as a loss should tell you everything. It was a late penalty that Lucas conceded, right? Then Rodallega came on and blasted one from about 35 yards out that rattled the woodwork. And that Arsenal game was so ridiculous. It was basically Arshavin + 10 guys trying to kick the ball out of bounds. It's too bad Arshavin scored four goals. Yossi equalized late - how good was he that year? Still fond memories of that guy.
Arshavin's no-stride lasers that night made it seem like he was capable of missiling goalward any ball he was dribbling. What a buy by Arsenal!
