Could just be a rumor, but a Bristol City FC supporters site is saying Kalifa Cisse is coming to NE. Picked up by a few on the twitterverse. 28 year old French/Malian CM/DM. Big body, 6'1.5" 22 Premier League matches, 114 Championship matches.
If true, this appears to be a great signing from afar. He's the right age, has a wealth of experience, and appears to be able to cover two important positions for us. I hope there is some truth to this.
Sounds like he turned down a new contract at Bristol City before trialing with Bolton. If he's turning down Championship money, I'm guessing he'd be signing for DP money here. Though I suppose there could be another reason he didn't want to stay there.
Maybe it's because Bristol are the worst team in the Championship and will be playing in Npower League 1 next season.
Last I saw was $250K/year average in Championship. But that would include the full 24-28 players on the roster. A starter would be making closer to $400K, though it completely depends on the team. He may very well have turned down the offer for reasons other than money, I just think he's going to cost quite a bit.
Valid reason. Cant blame him if they are going down a division although we know how successful the revs have been with fire sale castoffs in the past.
... which is precisely the case why he won't end up in New England. If he ends up being linked to any MLS clubs they'll almost certainly be New York and Los Angeles.
While I agree that he probably won't be coming to New England, it's worth noting that MLS has come a long way from the days of just NY and LA bringing in quality/expensive players. Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto are all reasonable landing spots for players of this caliber/experience/salary level.

I always liked Andy as a player, though obviously he has his limitations. I always loved those late runs into the box. Perhaps he's projected as a partner with Clyde (which Ryan Guy is definitely NOT), or maybe depth at that position. I think Andy had played on the wing a bit in Scotland and England, so there's versatility as well. And it's nice to pick up this kind of player w/o using a SI slot. My only fear is that he is viewed as the "answer" at CB.
I don't disagree with any of this. My thought process is more running towards ... this organization still seems to think mostly in the box. We need a coach, let's bring in an ex-Rev. We need an announcer ... ex-Rev. We need help on the field ... ex-Rev.
I started a new thread to discuss the Dorman re-signing, but was unsure of how to merge the content from this thread to the new one. Regardless, this is the first signing of the off-season and seemed worthy of its own thread.
Cool, Burns has now filled the Senior Roster. All he has to do now is draft a few kids for the developmental roster and he can call it another successful off-season.
Wasn't he available for most of our season when he was "in between clubs" in Engerland? Not that we could have used him in 2012, since we were "right up against the cap" and our senior roster was fu... I mean the equipment manager would have had to clean out tht locker at the end of the row that had the extra pratice gear and that promotional stuff that adidas sent that no one wants...
IIRC, Andy was not released by Palace until right before their season began. Too bad he couldn't have had a trial by fire in September and October, though.
