Jack is 7 years younger, had 8 goals 3 assists in 1630 minutes played. Fabi had 9 goals 7 assists over 2293 minutes. Seems like he'd be a good pickup as a 20 year old player. If we could somehow snag him + cash or + another player I think it'd be a pretty solid signing.

Jack's a poacher. We are already have a world class DP one of those. He would not be an upgrade over Espy.

Use the cash saved from Espy to go towards building a midfield that can attack and exploit those talents? He's young enough that he might work out in an Espindola type role. At the same time, pick him up as a solid 2nd/3rd forward and pick up a younger player to play the Espindola role? Having Jack learn from a great poacher/post up forward could be a great thing.

I'd want a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich.
Hell, I'd give up our top 3 players for one of those.
(This is why I should manage this team.)

There wouldn't really be any cash saved in cutting Espindola. I don't think there's a realistic way to find a reliable striker for anything less than what we're paying Fabi now. Which is basically peanuts.

I'm not entirely sure going months without scoring as being reliable. ;) I'm assuming McInerney makes a fair bit less than Fabi, he's 20, and would hopefully improve on his stats from 2012, where Espindola likely won't get much better than he is now. If Philly truly is looking at a trade for Espindola, who else would we be trying to get in return? There's McInerney, Michael Farfan, or Adu? It'd potentially be a steal if we got McInerney + Farfan. We'd have a guy that produced about the same as Espindola did, get a good midfielder, and they're both young, something we really need.

I think solid organizations are able to say, "this is who we are", something that identifies them. I like the identity that JK has brought to this team, and I'm all for it staying that way.

Go to the Downtown Philly in South Jordan, then.
I've had a cheese steak from pat's (******** gino's) and it is just as good. No kidding

Fabi makes 125K which isn't cheap my any means, but it sure as hell ain't a ton of money that will suddenly make things better.

back to those salary numbers JackMac is listed at 140K. I'm pretty sure he is Generation Adidas though... which makes this trade (from a Philly standpoint) an even worse move.

They would get a striker who has a decent pedigree but has a bad temper and goes on cold streaks for one of the more promising young players who doesn't currently count against the salary cap...
This isn't the same group that traded KB for Mehdi, people. Espy for JackMac is a pipe dream

I was going to argue the price difference, but I see its been done. Jack Mc is coming off GenAd which is why might be looking to off-load. I guess they think it might be revenge for Chris Seitz. Its not going to happen.

This is why I said Jack and Mike Farfan or allocation for Espy. Union got loads of allocation money.

You are wrong here my friend. The best and only place for authentic cheese steaks in Utah is Moochies, I have been to everyone, and I have been to everyone in Philly. Downtown Philly is a franchise. Its like some took the approach of McDonalds and tried to apply it to cheese steaks. Just wrong. Don't buy into it.

Surely you can't be serious, E (and don't call me Shirley).

J-Mac and Marfan are probably the two players highest on Hack's list. They're not going anywhere anytime soon. Same could be said for Cruz.

    Does RSL need a leftback?

    I need a Airplane image.

Of course that wouldn't fly (no pun intended). Just saying what RSL would want from a 15th? place team.

Is Sheanon Williams on the trade block?

Just curious where the information regarding Espindola and Philidelphia came from?

A Philly blogger retweeted some LA guy's tweet. Grew from there. Dills (i think) from Union forum reported it over there in their offseason thread.

The question for you is, how is Philly doing on cap space and could they spare some?

The more I look at this potential trade, the more I think it could be nothing more than Espindola for cash/cap room. RSL is really short on cap space and an allocation could allow them to sign a striker from outside MLS. I know Philly just got allocation money for missing the playoffs....I would think that they'd readily part with it in exchange for Espy.

I don't know about anything specific to Philly, but I do have strong suspicions that RSL is actively shopping Fabi, so this rumor makes sense.

I would much rather lose Johnson and his $200+ salary than Espindola and his $125 salary, $125 seems like a bargain for a striker of his caliber.
Olave and Morales are other high salary players that can create space if RSL is looking for improve and get younger.

Why are we actively shopping him? Do we have another high caliper striker in our sights?

Uhhh...Sheanon Williams, or any of the other Core young players on Philly's roster aren't going anywhere. They might be open to trading Gabe Farfan, depending on his contract situation they might be open to moving Josue Martinez, I could also see Keon Daniel as being available as well, and definitely considering moving Adu for the right offer.

I'll just say that there are reasons and leave it at that. I don't divulge things I've promised not to, as I try to maintain the shred of integrity I have left.

Not sure about whether RSL has their sights on any strikers who know how to use calipers.

This is what happens when you're on the west coast and get up an hour after everyone else, you miss out on all the good joke possibilities. I was in the midst of googling a good caliper picture...

You have integrity? Hmmm, news to us.

I wouldn't be surprised to see players like Lopez ($120-125k) and/or Gomez ($275-295k) NOT return for 2013, so that'll definitely free up some cap space. There's questions about how much the Union is on the books for regarding Mwanga's salary after his trade to Portland (wow, that was a great sentence ...). And of course the albatross known as Freddy Adu is something everybody, and yet nobody, talks about. At the same time, players like McInerney ($76-140k), Okugo ($90-173k), and MacMath ($90-135k) will be graduating GA. So honestly, who the <expletive deleted> knows what the Union's cap looks like. ;) But $125k for a "proven" MLS striker in Espondola seems like a bargain.

I guarantee you RSL is looking at strikers. We couldn't score at the end of the season. As much as Kreis will say "that doesn't fall on the strikers entirely, we need midfielders to step up to" it falls on the strikers (though we need the midfield to step up too).

After Sabo, we don't have a striker on this team that you can rely on. Not a single one. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we saw an entirely new set of strikers next season with Sabo being the lone hold over. The way we ended this season just showed how little creativity and lethal instinct this squad has in the final third. It doesn't matter how well you defend, if you don't put the ball in the back of the net you won't win.

We destroyed our CCL, MLC Cup, and SS hopes because we couldn't score. Not because we couldn't defend or possess the ball, but because we couldn't score
