I love how galaxy fans are hating this. Just reading their comments makes me laugh. Imagine a DT soccer stadium for Chivas USA while the galaxy still play in Carson. :ROFLMAO: I will believe it when i see it, but good stuff.

california is broke, LA is a hundred small combative towns lumped together, the politics of the state make much public help impossible. it has taken over a decade to even get the hint of an NFL stadium up and running and people love the NFL it has political sway, neither of which can be said about Chivas USA ... it took the Quakes over a decade (and a loss and re-invention of their team) to get a new stadium.

this ain't going to happen anytime in the next 10 years ... and probably not even then.

I have to agree here. MLS and ownerships learned their lessons in difficult markets like NY and DC. Unless they're prepared to fully fund the construction of the stadium oop, this cannot get done anytime soon. Places like Houston, it's easier to get public money, but this is LA, so only if they crack open their own wallets big time, there probably won't be a stadium. I hope it happens, but the ownership is the key.

NFL is already looking at that site as an alternative to the "nevergonnahappen" AEG site and the Ed Roski site in Industry. Not looking good for NFL2LA happening anytime soon.

And a ChivasDome isn't exactly the Consolation Prize to appease the locals...

We'd need to make it "open air" to accommodate the grilling...

Vergara did confirm a persisting rumor:
    Chivas USA
is looking to move away from the Home Depot Center.
Despite implying that he would like to stay in the Los Angeles area, the owner acknowledged that he will look into other venues.
"We're in negotiations to look for options regarding Chivas USA's home base," he went on to say.
UCLA has been signaled as a potential partner and new home for the team, founded in 2005.
Meanwhile, the team's new coach, Jose Luis Sanchez "Chelis", reaffirmed his commitment to pull the team up from the league's dregs.

Where would UCLA find land to work with Chivas on a new stadium? I can't imagine acreage in Westwood being used for such an endeavor. MUCH more likely scenario is the Sports Arena location... and we all acknowledge that's a tough sell to CA right now...

Yeah, I think "UCLA" is a typo. There is no available land whatsoever in Westwood. Probably meant usc, Sports Areana location.

UCLA plays at the rose bowl, north of the 210 in Pasadena right now, so if they want to move the football team closer to the heart of LA then they make sense as a partner. USC being in the Coliseum they are pretty central to the LA area already.

For example, if you said you wanted to build a Chivas USA stadium at Chavez Ravine... not so grand.. if you wanted a join UCLA football/Chivas USA stadium at Chavez Ravine... now you have something.

I wouldn't worry about SJ. Sacramento is of marginal importance to a team in the Bay Area. It would be akin to a team moving into San Diego. It would have no impact on LA.

This sounds like they want to move into an exsisting stadium a college team plays in.
