*MOD Note: Since this thread exists, I'll just repurpose it to make it the game thread too* Who: Seattle Sounders FC vs. LA Galaxy Where: CenturyLink Field, Seattle, WA When: 6:00PM, Sunday, 11/18 Watch: ESPN Listen: 97.3 KIRO FM, Sirious 94 ---End Mod addition--- I know we feel like we have all taken a beating but let's not forget what happened in 2003 to the LA Galaxy. Considered among one of the greatest, if not greatest comebacks in MLS history. We really don't have anything to lose, right? After all, it feels like we already lost and the Galaxy supporters have already started making plans for the cup. Sure Montero is in a ridiculous playoff slump but what a better way to break it than next week...
As they say, as long as you're still breathing, there is still a chance. It all depends on how the teams come out. If the Galaxy come out flat and we come out hot, there's a chance that we can put up a couple of goals before they get out of their funk and then it is game on.. If they come out hot, then the task becomes much more difficult.
The Galaxy better start building an Ark. They are going to need it to get home after the flood of goals the Sounders dump on them this weekend! This flood will flush them clear out of Centurylink, right down to the port, overwhelmed and gasping for breathe, they will cling to anything that floats hoping just to get out alive.
Ha Ha Ha that's the spirit! Don't forget to click your heels together and say there's no place like home, there's no place like home, Because that is were ye shall stay.
western conference final and the gals cant manage to sellout 100 tickets for traveling supporters. on a sunday. with a team that has dominated MLS. unbelievable.
3 goals down with 90 mins left? Pfffftttt!!! How about 4 goals down with 30 mins left. I feel annoyed that Klose's 2nd goal reminds me of the goals last Sunday.
Apparently that transports you back to the 16th/17th century and makes you speak in early Modern English.. gotcha.
good thing MLS CUP isn't awarded to most euro like atmosphere. We cant all just leave our hole in the wall coffee shops and smoke shops closed on Mondays.
It's now or never for our Rave Green, so let's hope the folks at the CLink open up the upper tank so we can flood it with over 66,000 supporters, hey, if we can fill it for Portland (the I-5 Derby), then we can most certainly do it for Beckham and The Boys. Traffic updates as heard on KING 5 News this morning: the 520 bridge will be closed all weekend until Monday at 5:00am, so I know I-90 and also other routes will be jam-packed, so give yourselves plenty of time to get to the CLink. My wife Alice and I will be wearing our Rave Green best for what hopefully will not be our last match of the season (we're thinking positive that we'll be hosting the MLS Cup), and stock up on brats for my usual traditional morning matchday meal (it would by 5:30pm in Germany at that time) for the German Bundesliga match between my boys at VfL Wolfsburg in Hoffenheim on Sunday morning at 7:30am PST, and then clean up the Foreman Grill to get it ready to put more brats on for our match vs. the Galaxy that same night on ESPN. We need to win by at least 3 clear goals (to tie or by 4 to win the series on aggregate) in the regulation 90, to force a 30-minute mini-match to decide it (am I right?), and if that doesn't decide it, we go to penalties, for the right to host the MLS Cup Final, and it will be a hell of a match. If there is anything I am missing here, please let me know, but until then, GO SOUNDERS!!! ALL HAIL THE RAVE GREEN AND CASCADE SHALE (and sometimes Super Cyan)!!!
Easier said then done but just win! We have to climb out the hole we dug for ourselves in LA, at the same time keeping their attack at bay for us to have any chance at all. I am optimistic as there is always a chance for the amazing to happen in sports but I am also realistic that it's gonna be very tough against a very good team that's on form at the moment. As long as the boys go out there and give it their all I'm happy. Go Sounders!!!!!
Any news on Leo or Rosales? If either one of them isn't ready to go on sunday, I think we're in trouble..
Doesn't sound like either can go a full 90 and Rosales hasn't even had a full practice yet. http://seattletimes.com/html/soundersfcblog/ My optimism for Sunday is incredibly low, but I'm sure come kick off I'll be totally convinced we can do it.
Just so long as I see at least 66,000 Sounders supporters at the CLink on Sunday, I think we have a (an outside) chance, hopefully we can borrow a little bit of the Seahawks' "12th Man" atmosphere, from all 66,000 of you and not just from the Brougham End itself but throughout the entire building, I think we can get this thing done, like I said earlier, an outside shot, but as you have seen in the video clip a few posts earlier on this thread, ANYTHING can happen in postseason.
My wife Alice and I will be giving it OUR full 90 (and a full 120 if necessary) this Sunday on ESPN, in the meantime, here is my current 2012 shirt collection (we also have 3 of the 4 shirts from 2009-10, we couldn't get the Electricity shirt to go with it, as well) to show everyone which MLS club WE support. GO SOUNDERS!!! BTW, the one I'm wearing in this shot is the pregame jersey from 2009-10 BTW, here are the other clubs I support internationally: VfL Wolfsburg (German Bundesliga) all shirts hanging are from 1997-02, the one I'm wearing is from the 2011-12 season: and Arsenal (EPL), all shirts hanging are from the Invincibles era, 2002-04, the one I'm wearing is from the 2005-06 season, their final year at Highbury:
Oh God I wish I did, the Bosnian Sensation was one of the reasons (along with Grafite) why we won the Bundesliga title in 2009, but I prefer my shirts blank in the back (no name/number), but I'd be shooting my wallet off BIG-TIME for an Edin Dzeko or Grafite shirt from that year (I most recently paid $30.00 USD for a VfL Wolfsburg "Deutscher Meister 2009" T-shirt in size XL from then), and also tag on an extra $35.00 USD for a bank transfer fee just in case the sellers don't take PayPal for some auctions on eBay Deutschland, I became a Wolfsburg supporter before the 2010-11 season, based on that championship we won in 2009 (BTW, great shot of Edin Dzeko with the Meisterschale, the Bundesliga trophy for the champions of Germany).
Hey Joe, any word on how many tickets have sold already? We are hoping for (at least) 66,000 strong at The CLink for tomorrow night's penultimate match which will determine whom hosts (and moves on to, obviously) the MLS Cup Final. Tomorrow morning at 7:30am PST (5:30pm over in Germany) I am hoping for a victory for VfL Wolfsburg in their away match at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and enjoying my matchday brats (you can obviously see the German theme prevalent in this one can't you ), you can join me in seeing it LIVE online on FirstRowSports.eu through Sky Deutschland (in German), and then after that, at 6:00pm PST, I go from wearing my Green and White strip of VfL Wolfsburg to wearing my Rave Green and Capital Blue of the Sounders for our pivotal 2nd leg match on ESPN, enjoying a pizza for that one, it will be an epic day for football (yes I am an American and yes, I do call it football!!!). Arsenal did their part earlier this morning against Tottenham at home at Emirates Stadium in the London Derby, now hopefully both Der Grün-Weiße VfL and The Rave Green Machine will do their parts in making this a perfect (3-for-3, with my 3 favorite teams pulling off an international treble of sorts) weekend for us here at the headquarters of both BIGHMW.com and VfL-USA Northwest here in Port Townsend. GO SOUNDERS!!!.... Go Gunners!!!.... and Immer Nur Du Der Grün-Weiße VfL!!! Make this weekend an epic treble of international proportions!!!
Maybe 43-44k so far! I don't know where you get info of 66k? If we had nice results from 1st leg maybe they will open whole stadium but I will be surprised if tomorrow we have more than 45k CLink.
