    We must rally the forces.

We must summon up all courage to defeat.. the forces of darkness:

I already said the soccer gods should be on our side at RFK after the crap we've put up with this playoffs. Who else do you want me to call? Obama? Bill Gates?

One must make no demands of the soccer gods, for they are a fickle bunch; quick to anger, ready to sow discontent upon the most loyal as with the most foolhardy (see RBNY). One shall not demand balance by the soccer gods, but rather be supplicant to them, to see that all which transpires is at their whim, to sacrifice and hope they look favourably upon it. We cannot deny it is our darkest hour this day...well, this season, anyway...but with a week's rest and the love of several good women, come Sunday may the soccer gods decide that we friends, we brothers and sisters, WE UNITED ARE THE CHOSEN, AND WE'LL BURY THOSE ORANGE BASTARDS LIKE THE USED-UP FILTHY $2 VEGAS WHORES THEY ARE!! WHO'S WITH ME?!?!

The Sounders didn't give up. They got played off the park by a great team hitting on all cylinders.

A sacrifice to the Soccer Gods is required. A goat? An RFK raccoon? Lionard Pajoy? Whatever it takes to propitiate the gods.

Soccer gods: "Didn't DC United learn from the NJ Pink Cows that you let your DP take the free kick 20 yards out?"

You're kidding? DC United hasn't learned that you should let your DP on the field. :(

I know - he wasn't on the field. And I wouldn't have him taking the free kicks anyway. I was responding to YellowSpine's post.

Check, forgot that he wasn't. Still a better choice on set pieces than the Joy.

You might want to slightly rephrase that.

Why can't we tie Beckham and Donovan together and let them be the sacrificial lambs?

Hey, what those two choose to do with each other in their spare time is none of our business, quite frankly.

Besides, we need sacrifices for THIS game.
