Hopefully Galaxy further thrash Seattle in the second round so Schmidt can be fired. He would be a fine candidate for us.
You "loco en la cabeza", even if he don't past the Galaxy in this round they never will fire him, not just yet.....
Typical Red Bull, let's just collect big names instead of building a team. I can totally see this happening. High priced talen isn't our problem. Building a team is. A team of players that will fight for the club, for eachother aand the fans. Look at DC. What's their payroll compared to us? Play to player we should have blown them away. Look at how hard they work for eachother. They are not an especially talented soccer team, they just work VERY hard. Look at the connection they have with their fans. During the Nor'eastergate, DC players came out and joined their fans in the stands. After RB saw this, a few guys trickled out as to not look bad. Hans standing there clapping to the 16 fans left like some sort of seal. Many of the 700 fans that traveled back twice, DURING THE WEEK, do it because they feel a connection to their club. We dont have that in NY. We just want to buy names and roll them out there.
Forget Magee. What about Bruce Arena? RB fans were totally out to lunch on wanting to get rid of him. (Then somehow loved Osorio because he seemed like he cared. Ughhh guys, terrible collective soccer IQ's) THESE are the types of decisions that will keep us from being a real and consistent force. We'll try to buy the championship like we are doing and it might even work......eventually. We wont have sustained success though.
Do you really think that? We only truly outshine them at the striker position, but they equally outshine us at the wing position. I think you (and most fans to be honest) are too caught up in our team salary which is really just the product of our 3 DP's, in reality our other 20 something guys aren't significantly better than the roster of any other playoff team.
You really dont think we have better talent than most other teams in the league? We are similar to LA. They succeed. We Fail. But wait, LA doesnt have more telent either, right? Same talent as Seatle, right? Come on. And what do you mean ONLY striker? Thats HUGE, especially in MLS.. Henry and Cooper to Pontius and that Columbian that never finishes? B- with the quality soccer this team plays is way to high. Dom Kinnear has it right... He WINS when it matter. Hans side lost. Look at run down the stretch this season. Lose to KC in a battle for first place. Lost the Chicago battle as well. Lost to DC. All games this season that actually mattered. What did we do, we lost. At least we beat Philli for our first road win since mid may, right? B grades should mean more. Guess not on Planet Metro. Some guy abocve was happy with Hans because me made the MLS playoffs 3 years in a row. 50% of teams make it and he sees that as some sort of accomplishment. Red Bull fans, in general, have lowly expectations. We are excited that half the teams suck worse that us. THEN, when we play the better teams in matches that matter, we lose. THIS is success to some Metro fans. We are a beaten down bunch.
Than most of the league? Sure. But no, I do not believe our squad is noticeably more talented than the most of the teams that entered the playoffs this year.
We certainly don't play like it, true.. Ask MLS coaches that spend 4 million a year if they think they could put together a better team with 15 million and I suspect every single one of them would say, YES. Its a competitive advantage wether you believe that or not. Having Theirry Henry alone is a big advantage. Having Donovan Becks and Keen on one team is a HUGE advantage. DC is playing with Perry Kitchen Pontius and that Columbian dude. It's night and day. SO even if you dont think the talent RB chose with their DP was smart, you still have to hold them accountable for making weak choices. Either way, pick your poison, Hans didnt do well here.
Dax and Heath went to London for a week (tweeted about it). I thought it was a halt on the way to USMNT in Russia but guess not. Anyone hear more? Trial with some club? Just training? Or non-soccer related. Believe Heath is there until Thurs or Saturday.
I was upset when they did that stupid move, Arena was trying to build the team from the bottom up, develop young players for the future, but lots of BIMBOS here want to win right away and they bring a Scandinavian Army to do that, well, they come with the OLD artillery that was shutting backward and you see the fiasco that they did....And Arena marching in for his second Title in a row.....
I'll wait until the coaching vacancy is filled before commenting fully but RBNY should use this offseason as an opportunity to become younger and more athletic. I agree that shifting Cahill to forward could be a good move but only if it is coupled with the acquisition of true wingers who can provide service. Sam is the only guy who fits that description.
I think that this time they learn the lesson, you can't build a team with a Old as Methuselah players, we need players with experience yes, but from there to build a welfare kind of place for all those players that are looking for a retirement place to go, is ridicule.... In Central and South America are a bunch of young players looking for a place to play and been pay for that, because in they countries are some that have months that they don't see a dime, go there and bring a half of dozen of them for 100K or something alike and you will have a very good team....
Getting rid of Magee was right at the time. He was injured so often and really unproductive. Seeing what he is doing now is remarkable. No doubt playing with such a quality team is helping him but he is filling his role quite well. I'll disagree with the mindset that most people here were happy to see Arena leave. At the time I was against it, and it's proven to be a big mistake.
Here is the story from London Daily Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...y-quit-LA-New-York-pursue-fashion-career.html Doesn't mention RBNY directly, but does say that the Beckhams are considering a move to NYC, and that David is undecided on retirement. So an easy connection of the dots suggests that Beckham to RBNY is at least a possibility.
Well, I would approve of it as it would mean that Beckham would be a short term deal(1 yr) while Marquez will have to get shipped out. That alone makes it great and I think Beckham can add creativity and vision in the midfield.
He was a disastre, like player he wasn't have any value, today beside de experience players like Beckham and Donoven help him show little more and is playing much better....
That is what make this gossip worthwhile, that to have Beckham with us or any other DP for that case; Marquez have to go first.....
If we send Marquez elsewhere but are still paying most or all of his salary, does anyone know if he still counts as a DP?
I can't possibly imagine they'd charge us a DP spot for a player that isn't even on our roster. It'll probably just have to come out of RB's pockets but I also have no idea if there is any precedent for that sort of situation.
You were one of the few. Most people around here were taken with Osorio. They loved the way he would write notes in his notebook during the matches. To them, it was a sign that he cared. Who cares if the teams completely sucked under him, he cared. I really wish the few Red Bull fans that are left would demand more. It seems like the smallest of successes please this crew. Osorio passionately into each match but sucking, the guy who was happy just making the playoffs, someone else was happy about getting Ream and Agudelo involved with the National team.. B grades for a guy that in 3 years challenged for 0.0 titles and lost every match that actually mattered this season. Planet METRO is a strange strange place.
Tough call on Marquez. This seasons results and Plastic Shovel Gate has fans less excited about the team (my tickets will not be renewed and know from RB front office that there was a nice handful of threats to do the same). At some point they have to start thinking about the business side. Will they really choose to eat a few million letting Rafa go on the cheap? Don't they use him in lots of their mexican marketing? It's more than just a soccer decision.
