Now hear this, LA Galaxy: Play LA Galaxy Soccer and Run. It. Up. On. Their. Asses. No exceptions, no complaints. That is all. DISMISSED.
Get our midfielders over to Staple Center so they can learn some good ole boxing out moves from the incomparable Lakers and win some of those bouncing air-balls... Oh... Really? Never mind.
Good luck to you guys. I think the Galaxy are putting on what is easily the most exciting performance of the playoff race so far. I certainly want it to continue.
Donovan & Juninho are clearly the big worry. Giving up 4 unanswered goals is unlikely, but there’s obviously recent precedent. Perhaps a 4-5-1 Beckham sitting in front of Sarvas/Juninho with Magee/Willehmson on the wings and Keane up front.
While we shouldn't get overconfident and cocky, remember that the 4-0 defeat came with the disastrous pairing of Gaul and Lopes in the backline. In a Galaxy of stars, that pairing was our black hole. I don't think we need Donovan to get past Seattle. It may be better for him to get three weeks rest in case we make it to the Cup final. Juninho should be okay. Question is which Juninho shows up.
Brian Jordan tweeted a pic from the stadium club of my buddies holding up our hard work. Here's a fresh look, before Beer and Nachos were spilt all over it once Magic Mike scored. The Legend Continues....
Barring two massive collapses we are looking at a rematch of last year's MLS Cup, at the same stadium.
I don't understand nor agree with this, lets go defend for the win mindset. This team does not win like that. We attack, then attack, and finally attack. We have a solid back line to hold up, but our real defense is the fear of god we instill when you see David, Robbie, Mike , and Landon coming at you with a determination of gladiators to attach the goal. Why would we neuter ourselves to sit back. If Landon is not available we have options enough to keep them busy. The reason parking the bus doesn't work is because the midfield is allowed to attack freely and without worry of reprisal. LA needs to go and play the way we have always played. In other words We are, who you think we are.
Oh man the weekend coan't come fast enough! I am so excited I might even splurge on some beer on sunday night (need to be at work by 4 am monday). I think buddle is gonna probably start up top with keano and sarvas and the swede will be in there for LD and juni. We have to play it smart and withstand the waves of attacking that the flounders will no doubt throw our way. Hold steady in defence and catch them on the counter. The beckham long ball will not be effective on that carpet so KEEP THE BALL on the ground. The passing must be crisp and the through balls precise. I see us advancing 5-2 on aggregate, And we wait to beat the texas out of those transplanted smurf sloppy seconds from houston.
Not sure people are really advocating playing bunker ball, just don't take any unnecessary risks by having everyone bomb forward and leaving us exposed at the back.
Exactly, not bunker at all just play a more versatile line up thats advantageous to counter attack while still applying pressure on the midfield. Without knowing who's healthy and who's not its hard to say. But there are certainly some line up tweaks Bruce could make... por ejemplo... Sarvas for Becks. I just picture Sarvas flying all over the pitch disrupting Seattle's flow, while trying to get numbers forward... He is also capable of getting forward as well. A game like this also suits us better to have Buddle up top and donovan and magee wide. But again health ?'s for Budson, LD, Juninho...
So basicly if Donovan can't go on Saturday... -----------------Keane----------------- Magee----------------------------Wily ---------------Beckham--------------- --------Juninho--------Sarvas-------- Dunivant--Gonzales--Meyer--Franklin ---------------Saunders--------------- I like it!
We need to keep active, and open up for smart simple passing. We are doing very well with that lately, although Seattle are not half bad at moving the ball around themselves. I expect a tough battle next week, in front of a rabid crowd.
I think the extra day of rest showed yesterday. They have a good defense, but I remember late in the game their guys doing some ball watching as Robbie scored again. We had a tough road with the play-in game, but knocking off the number one seed had a real advantage.
Just curious if Seattle is selling additional sections for this match? I'd think they could under normal circumstances. Unless their fan base is too demoralized.
Can anyone clue me in as to the discipline rules? If an at risk player gets a yellow card in Sunday's games, do they miss the final? I remember at least one major tournament this year where this was forgiven so that both teams in the final would be at their best strength.
Yellow card accumulation is basically over. Our guys already on a card can get a yellow on Sunday and play in the final. Anyone seeing red on Sunday is done for the season.
Not to get to far ahead of ourselves here, but also at stake Sunday in Seattle is CCL qualification. A positive result and progression to MLS Cup (no matter the result there) insures our spot in next years competition, where again, not getting ahead of ourselves, we will return as Champion of CCL as well...
