To echo what everyone has said, I'm not sure if its best to throw Petke into the fire yet when he hasn't been an assistant coach yet. Love the guy to death and don't want him to take the job, where we expect to win immediately without the right preparation. It's great we are sorting the coaching thing out quickly, because we need a coach in place before we can start signing new players that we need

Isn't matter, they contract aren't guaranty the same as Tainio, Solli and Miller, ....Marquez, his contract is automatic guaranty, so we have to keep having him for one more year....

Saying that, we only can protect 11 players and on the protected list we have to include the guarantee contract players Henry, Marquez and Cahill, so the list will be:
    -1.-Henry,-2.-Marquez ,-3.-Cahill ,-4.-Barklage ,-5.-Lade,-6.-McCarty,-7.-Robles,-8.-Ruthven,-9.-Lloyd,10.-Pearce, 11.- Cooper

If Meara still on the disability list until January he will not need protection, the same about Hertzog because is a GA....

    From the rest: (List #2)
Borrajo, ¿Conde?, Keel, Lindpere , Palsson, Gaudette, Vuolo....

    ================And: (List # 3)
Arteaga, Holgersson, Le Toux, Miller, Solli,Teemu....

From the list #2, we probably will loose a player...

The ones on the list #3 can be dismiss after the Drafts are ending, we don't need any of those garbage....

Well, that will be worst them, because the others team can pick any body who don't have a guaranty contract..... And that will be a bad thing, I thing they will keep doing the protected list, to give chance to the teams to keep the players they considered vital to them...

Petke being given the "interim head coach" tag at least keeps him from heading to Queens for the time being.

Besides, could he be any worse than this guy:

No idea why anyone is so high on Dax. Agreed he works hard and runs a lot, and is a fighter. However he does not belong in the starting 11 at this level. I don't hink i seen anyone with more unforced erors then this guy. Have you ever seen a headless chicken runing all over at a very high speed ? that's Dax to me.

As a holding midfielder he was forcing somewhere around 8-12 turnovers per game and regularly put up 85-90% pass completion ratings. Those are damn impressive numbers, if he had been allowed to play there all year he'd be our team MVP hands down.

Man I really have no idea what you are talking about. I think you don't either. Dax was a beast all year long, especially when he played at the d-mid spot.

Dax is heart of this team and broke up play after play when used properly at Dmid. Yeah, only weakness is in offensive 1/3 he looks Ballshitty-like. Still should be our MVP for what he does on field in def and middle thirtd. Have you watched many games?

Backe way can screw any player you can imagine, Lindpere for one, he isn't a winger and McCarty he is a Stopper MF not a winger, playing DMF he play pretty good for us and one of the best MFD on the league and istill a room for improvement he is only 25....But if you will play him here and tomorrow there, forget it....But by fortune, we don't have more Hank with us and that will be something good for the team and the players....

Dax has improved his play significantly in the final third over the year. When he first came here he was a bust as he was almost asked to play as a "#10" which obviously doesn't suit his skilset. But he's getting better at finding pockets of space, finding the linking pass and making the run into the box. He's just can't finish.

I think that's the next step for him as well becoming a box to box type of midfielder which he's definitely capable of. He has the work ethic, pace and stamina to do so.

Reading that Conde story is insane. Good for him for standing up for what he thought was right. I thought Rafa's on and off injuries were suspicious. I really wonder why Rafa says he wants to stay when his efforts on the field constantly indicate otherwise. After he got that first yellow I immediately got a bad feeling, and would've wanted him subbed to be safe (too much to ask with Hans, of course). That tackle on Pontius looked like a straight red, let alone a second yellow. He talked just last year about going back to Mexico. Wouldn't it be a win-win? He gets to finish his career where he started, get celebrated as a national hero, and NYRB get to free up some roster space?

If Red Bull plan on building this team to suit the whims of stars who don't have the best interests of the club at heart, I will be happy to support NY2 the moment their stadium gets built. It almost makes me wonder if Garber's obsession with making NY2 happen is somehow linked to knowing NYRB is a failure on an organizational level, not just a case of fans not wanting to commute to Jersey. The locker room stuff coming out just now in all these articles is unbelievable.

Edit: Also, absolutely gutted for Cooper after reading that Capital New York article. I was skeptical when he came over after doing poorly at Portland, but I was completely wrong about him. He gave his best all season, and we should be honored to have him.

Please tell me what do we want, I know what I want. I want to see this team play good flowing soccer and improve. If one can't make a simple pass, and frustrating the hell out of me with elementary mistakes, he shouldn't be a starter. Our team failed again,we need to improve and to get better. I don't mean to single him out, just responding to this silly notion that he was somehow our best player. Far from it, if we have dilusions of winning the MLS Cup, him and a few others do not belong.

Let see, we have a long, long list of foreign players, let pick the ones that for one reason or other will stay or deserve to stay:
    First the list: (15).....
Arteaga, Angulo, Cahill, Conde, Diago, Henry, Holgerslush, Le Toux, Lindpere, Marquez, Miller, Palson, Lloyd, Solli and Tainio.....

1.-Marqquez, Henry and Cahill will stay only if RBNY buy the contract from Marquez and send him packing, but that will cost them at least 2 cools millions... From this trio I will like to see Cahill come back for the next season....Henry I don't know....
2.- From the rest of the list I think Lindpere has win his place on the team and deserve a come back too...
3.- Lloyd is other player that I will love to see him back on the pitch....
4.- Palsson, for a 21 years old player with out of experience and that we can have on USA collages for dozen and at 95K, is to expensive for nothing....
5.-Conde equation will be: Conde ± Henry.....So, I don't think will be a Conde "shield" on the RBNY Arena next year maybe we can find a Prince instead....

So, that you got, from the 15 list of foreigners only 4/5 of them look like to return next year:
Henry, Marquez, Cahill, Lindpere and Lloyd, the rest we can send them to Florida to pick tomatoes for living, they don't deserve anything else.....

    And for overall, we have:(17)
Henry, Marquez, Cahill, Lindpere, Lloyd, Barklage, Borrajo, Hertzog, Keel, Lade, McCarty, Meara, Pearce, Robles, Ruthven, Vuolo and a trade for Gaudette.... We don't need four Keepers RBNY can sale or trade Gaudette

So I fail to see where this applies to Dax. It seems to me like you haven't watched this team all season long and you don't see how much Dax meant to this team. You did single him out. And no he wasn't our best player, but with Henry and Cooper, he is up there in terms of his contributions to the team over the whole season. So removing Dax does not make this team better. He deserves a lot of credit for the season that he had.

Now that he can be signed under two million, the RBNY is possible to sign him for commercial purposes, he still a good salesman and could be a pretty good Sub....

¿But LA will take Marquez in trade?.....

There's no chance LA will take Marquez but if the FO is serious about Beckham they'd have to get rid of Marquez which is great. Although Beckham is old and may not last very long he's still a good player who has the best passing ability and vision in the league by far.

I'm wondering would a team like Chivas take Marquez to help with their marketing? Would we have to eat up half of his contract or give up a player like Lade?

Fox soccer or Sky. I forget what I was watching. Also saw it somewhere online. His contract is up after this season or he isn't taking an option for another season. Forget what they said.

You never know, he have a 36 letter name in sport around the world and Red Bulls Beverage can use that name for his benefice and in the same time he can play as a Super Sub for one year, we have not a passer like him on the team, and beside all that, with him here we will not need Henry to look for a pansy to make free shuts for him....
