Di Vaio is the greatest living player in Bologna's history, and this is the only time the impact could make the trip. No way they would not accept the request. Yes. Bologna has an important game on Saturday, so they played 2 starters plus the reserve squad. It was still enough to dominate the Impact who played all 11 starters. According to Nick Sabetti, who is following the team, based on the quality of play apparently the local journalists spent the whole game thinking the Impact were playing their reserves. 0-1 loss apparently could easily have been 0-3 or 0-4. On the other hand we found out that their scorer, the reserve team's Daniele Paponi, probably won't make the main squad and is looking for a new home 24 years old and probably could be had for less than DP money. http://www.goal.com/en-ca/news/4175...tti-the-benefits-of-the-impact-in-italy-where
This thread is going to be my life-line in the offseason by helping me keep from going into withdrawals.
This thread and the offseason transactions thread and the in-season transaction threads are spectacular gems that the league office ought to just insert into their webpage.
Not sure if they update this during the off season or not, but - http://www.mlssoccer.com/transactions/2012
Is there a place that shows which players are internationals or not? Place of birth is not reliable and i'm uncertain for some of the Impact guys.
Impact's plays Fiorentina's reserve side tomorrow morning. Some interesting news: Don't know anything about these guys. But i'm really happy with the team we are fielding. lots of young talent.
This seems to be the best place I have found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_International_Roster_Slots It says Camara, Corradi, Di Vaio, Ferrari, Iapichino, Martins, Nesta and Rivas were all Int'ls. Montaño is too but was loaned out last year and didn't claim one of the 9 slots (so one is free).
Thanks, it was the "foreign born players with domestic status" that messed me up. Mallace, Nyassi, Thomas, Ubiparipović all have it.
there is no 100% way to tell unless the team does a press release when a player gets their green card but often times if a foreign born player has been in the US for a while, especially in US college and/or the lower divisions, you can assume they've gotten a green card. not 100% of course but a good "rule of thumb" so to speak. and if a foreign born player plays for Seattle you can assume they've gotten a green card after one year because they seem to be all over helping their players get them ... Gspurning has been in the league for ONE season and just got one.
Yeah, Mallace is an academy product and Ubiparapovic came up with the team from the NASL so it makes sense. it's Nyassi that surprised me.
