Including the allocation money we'd have to give Portland Cooper would cost us 375,000 if we keep him.

I love the guy too. He's certainly won me over...but man oh man. That is a LOT of money.

Oh shit. This is not good news either. The last time an agent got involed with MLS (Beckham's) it was DISASTROUS.

"New power brokers have entered the picture in New York, some hiding in plain sight. Darren Dein, Thierry Henry’s best friend and agent, has emerged as a powerful figure behind the scenes at the Red Bulls, and he has spent weeks in the area, serving as Houllier’s surrogate and as one of people tasked with figuring out how to fix the Red Bulls. He hasn’t been doing it in private either. He has been spotted for several weeks in the team’s locker room after games, and around the stadium."

And you guys all thought Conde was being an ass? Well I'd say he had things just about right. Shame if he's gone. The guy is talented.

"According to multiple sources, defender Wilman Conde was effectively banished from the team after blasting his high-priced teammates and Backe after the team’s loss to the Chicago Fire a month ago (a match Conde was subbed off at halftime in). Conde ripped into Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez, as well as Backe, leading the team to ask Conde to take some time off, which was spun as him needing time off for personal reasons. Conde never played another minute for the Red Bulls, and will almost certainly be part of the team’s roster purge this winter.

The team’s dysfunction continued into the playoffs, where sources tell SBI Rafa Marquez and Hans Backe had a verbal altercation at halftime of the team’s first-leg draw vs. D.C. United, which was proceeded by Marquez leaving the match for what was called a mild calf strain. That story seemed curious to begin with, but the mood in the team’s locker room after that first-leg draw, a very good result for the team, suggested that things were far from normal that night. Marquez was presented to the media after the match, where he sold his injury story, but he came off about as believable as a three-card monty dealer."

    Disaster. Chaos.

With Henry's agent, it sounds exactly like the bs that went on in LA with Becks and his guys running the show right into the ground until the got Bruce.

I think it's hilarious that Backe put Conde in the doghouse when he criticized Rafa, and then just a few weeks later Rafa blew up at Backe and Backe was foreced to pull him at halftime and make up an injury excuse.

Great read from Ives. Pretty much went like a few people speculated.

Conde is the man if he actually did that. He should had just took out crappa's ankles in practice, that is if Marquez actually practices.

I think Lade could end up being a starter. It was only his first season. He has to play in midfield though.

Cahill should be up at forward where he belongs. I would put him up top with Henry and find a playmaker in mid field. Cahill doesn't belong there.

Tainio was much better. I just think it is injury and time catching up with him. I really liked him. He was tough and had some grit. I think it is time to cut him loose though. Especially with the money he is taking up.

I give Conde credit for stepping up and saying something.

Lade... Perhaps a starter too, sure. As a sub though, I remember him coming in and really changing a game. That's SO useful sometimes when a change of pace is needed. Either way though.

I guess I need to see Cahill up-top first before commenting. For me though, great guy, BUT not a guy worth the money. Hoping he will change my mind next season.

My love affair Coop is in jeopardy at 375, but would consider it if I were pulling the strings.

What we've seen in less than half a season is 7-8 cases of him making a pin perfect run into the box where he could have been easily fed a tap in. He also wins about 90% of the aerial battles he goes up for. To me that screams that his production would reach the levels we'd expect from a DP if he could get some half way decent service.

I think Cooper is worth that money tbh. He had a great scoring record this year(2nd leading scorer) and he's as good as a forward you can find in the MLS. What are we going to waste a DP on a over the hill forward who will struggle to adjust or who came to collect his retirement checks? Ask Philly what they would do to have a 18 goal scorer. Don't mess with something that is working perfectly fine..

Put him in a position like he played at Everton. He wasn't playing mid field to be used as a playmaker like the mid fielder RB and some fans wanted.

I don't think he is worth 375k. I like the guy and he plays hard, but he's just missing something to complete it all. Reduce his pay and I would keep him.

I'd like to see Henry with Cahill up top. Then there is a part of me that really believes for any good Henry brings, that he might be a problem.

As for the Cooper pay reduction. Does MLS allow for performance bonuses in their contracts? If they do I would try to lower his pay and throw in bonuses if he reaches them. Just an idea.

Does it? I haven't seen Le Toux make any decent runs anywhere, nor I have I seen him win any aerial battles. I have seen Le Toux bounce most of his first touches into the parking lot and pass to the opposing team more often than his own.

I was referring to the poster who thought having Cahill at forward would be a good idea due to his off ball movement and that's something Le Toux is notably good at. Problem is that Le Toux had no chemistry what so ever with Henry..

I'm done judging Le Toux based on what he was good at while he was playing at Philly. Cahill, on the other hand, has this season proven on the field to have the qualities that I mentioned before. I'm not talking about potential, I'm talking about what has been shown on the field for this team.

I'd rather just give Petke a chance.

I think the best thing for Petke is to gain some experience as an assistant. He is not a guy to just throw into the fire. You want to groom him for success. In an ideal world he can work as an assistant under our next coach and be groomed to take over once that guy leaves.
