I wasn't sure where to put this. Mods, if you don't think it deserves its own thread, please move it wherever.

The SportsBog has an article about Bill Hamid's postmatch celebration. It includes an embedded video of that celebration. If you haven't seen it, go there right now and watch it.

DC United have a bunch of young players who Ben Olsen has gotten fired up. They have different levels of ability to deal with that intensity. Good to see all the boys fired up, but controlling that intensity will continue to be an issue for some of the players. Neither Bill nor Andy will play the first match against Houston (I am assuming Andy will have his suspension extended for throwing the ball at the referee). Hopefully Ben learns to do as good of a job counseling the players about being available for the next match and not leaving the team short handed as he does firing them up.

I think they said Hamid was the youngest starting goal keeper in MLS playoff history, sometimes easy to forget how young he is.

Also, he went nuts after the call, but that might have been a bit more calculated, it sure gave Willis a few extra minutes to get ready.

And some angry tweets after he got back to the locker room too. He claims that Kenny Cooper dove over him. Hard to tell from the TV. If I had gotten a red card as a result of someone's dive, I'd be pretty pissed too. I was just hoping that BMac wasn't going to get carded as well.

How is throwing a ball at a ref a 2 game suspension? If he had thrown it at his face or with great force, I could see that but he just threw the ball at the ref. It was an idiot move, not a malicious one.

And why didn't Rafa get a card for smacking the ball out of one of our player's arms? (Wasn't it Rafa? There are too many classless thugs on the cow's team. I get them all confused.)

Goff is reporting that the club is expecting for the suspension to be extended. Nothing is confirmed from the league office yet.

Cooper's leaping over him didn't matter. Bill didn't get the ball, and he did obstruct the player. If Cooper hadn't lept over him and fallen down, he would have tripped over Bill, no question. It was DOGSO.

They need to hurry up and say one way or the other: Olsen has to plan. The match is in two days.

I believe BMac got a yellow for dissent in that kerfuffle. Cooper's Torso looked offside before the ball was played, which is technically a violation, but a tough call for the AR trying to run with the play, since he'd have been screened by Jakovic if he were trailing even a foot behind the play.

I can't believe I used the word "kerfuffle."

The box score says Pajoy was booked for dissent at 71'.

Pajoy got his booking for actively trying to rattle Cooper-kicking at the gras at the penalty spot

If Olsen thinks it might happen then that's because the league has told him to assume the worst. The DisCo has done this before and Olsen wouldn't mention it otherwise.

Goff is reporting on Facebook that Andy Najar was suspended two additional games (still awaiting confirmation from the league office), so he will miss the Houston series, but is eligible to play in MLS Cup if the team makes it that far.

Oddly enough, this would allow him to play for Honduras in the upcoming friendly in Houston on Wednesday.

Thanks to Brek Shea. He set the bar for 3 games. Quit acting like victims here. It is never okay to throw or kick a ball at a ref. In the USSF youth ranks, he could get suspended for the entire season for that. High School, you can get a one year suspension for all sports for that.

Maybe we shouldn't have bitched so much about having the game postponed. :whistling:
