if you notice finally this season Gerrard is starting to strike the ball with ferocity from distance. Makes me feel like he is finally getting up to fitness.

This year the only moments of "wow" I've seen from Gerrard were when he made long passes from deep in the midfield.

BR wants a bridge to Shelvey -- someone who can play in the midfield, with the ability to play forward and a knack for scoring.

Will be very interesting to see if BR acquires the goalless pony tail from WHU.

I agree with this. However, Suarez is so good that he can play both roles. It would be incredibly difficult and expensive to find a goal-scoring wide player. Those types of players are very rare. Suarez will be brilliant no matter what position you put him in, and he will find a way to get goals from any position. I think it would be easier for us to obtain someone for the center forward role.

Whoever we sign, must be carefully selected. As you point out, not just any "forward" can thrive in our system. It will take a player of very high quality to improve on our current starting eleven with Suarez, Sterling, and Suso.

Story in Germany is that Huntelaar will soon extend his contract with Schalke so that's probably that.

Seeing his contract is up I'd say his agent is just doing what an agent does.

Take it with a grain of salt, but apparently we've been scouting Jordan Rhodes, who's absolutely tearing the Championship apart and playing for a crap team in Burnley who aren't going to get promoted.

He can fcuk the fcuk off.

I don't want him, as he's been quite awful since his last year with us (and I'm pretty sure he doesn't to want to come here anyways).

Rhodes plays for Blackburn but he's another Connor Wickham, I think. You maybe mean Charlie Austin who plays for Burnley and ain't too shabby.

Yes, I meant Austin lmao, thanks for the correction. I even read Charlie Austin, I honestly have no clue why I said Jordan Rhodes. BRAIN FART.

    In.

Looking for players who will allow Wisdom Sterling and Suso to become squad players. That means a left back, Walcott and a striker/winger.

I'd take Torres for 5 to 7m, but we'll never get him for that, so we might as well look elsewhere.

Amazing, eh? The two most expensive players in British football history are sorry flops who couldn't hit the proverbial barn-door.

What do you guys think of Traore from Anzhi? We've been linked to him.

I think there are better options for BR's style of play. IMO its an agent trying to stir up Jan business for his player.

Anzhi only signed him in the summer for 18m euros. Not sure that we can afford the 'black Peter Crouch' but if we did have that kind of money it would be better used strengthening the wings/AM positions.

Pass, we need more versatile forward players who are capable of playing anywhere in the front 3, Sturridge, Hooper, or Walcott for instance.

Now we know where Joke Hole has been lately.

As for Traore - why not just keep Carroll if we're going after him?
We need a Reus, a Schurrle, a Holtby, an attacker (not a forward, not a winger) that can play between the lines, get wide when needed, and has the ability to pop up in the box for 10-12 goals a year.

We're also being linked with Luiz Adriano from Shakhtar today.

And what about a certain Nicolas Anelka as a short-term option for us? He's unhappy in China and looking for a way back to the continent. He's played for us before, and is a Liverpool fan. He is capable of playing wide in a front 3 and contributing goals and can play through the middle to give Luis a break. I think he's an effective 1.5 yr stop gap.

I don't know, maybe Diouf would be ok because he never really hit it off with Yanited, but generally speaking, I just don't want anything to do with them. Like would you welcome Rooney for example? Hell no, even a Valencia or a Nani? Not a chance in hell. Just examples, but like I said as a fan I could possibly accept Diouf because he never worked out or played much for them.

That aside, the fact that he never worked in the EPL would turn me away from him. Sure he's lighting it up for Hannover, but obviously he didn't work at Yanited and his loan spell at Blackburn was god-awful.
