What was the score when Ike came on the pitch?

I missed the Portland game, but I saw the three LA games, and I saw the same thing: our defense gets pressured and they hoof it.

The only difference between tonight and the other two games is we missed our chances and they didn't.

Anyone think Hernandez may be gone next year?
Need to turn Morrow into more of a winger. Needs to work on that cross before next season.
Fkkkk. Out of beer and the store is too far., all around horrible evening.

Yeah, I wouldnt be done with Ike at a lower pay rate. He still has tools, he can learn if he keeps applying himself.

I keep coming back to us developing some bad habits at the end of the year. The history of teams on long unbeaten runs is terrible in the MLS playoffs, you rarely get a chance to wake up after your wake up call game.

Emotions are understandably running high right now, but don't despair: the San Jose Earthquakes roster now has a good, relatively young nucleus that doesn't need dismantling, simply fine-tuning (and there'll be no expansion draft for the first time since forever to take a player or two away).

Not to mention that we now have a new SSS on the way (the reality of which truly hit home for me when I recently put down the deposit on my seat), albeit only planned to open at the beginning of 2014.

And the team will represent in the 2013-2014 CONCACAF Champions League, so this season and the near-future aren't total losses. ;)

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! :(

That is why having quality players with experience is so important. Because they have been there before and know what to do in order get themselves out of the rut. I think that is what we need more than anything right now. A few experienced players that have won before and are good enough to contribute.

Yeah but to me, we didn't even exhaust our own capabilities.

Everyone talks crap about Ramiro and Moreno when we had him, but like someone pointed out, Kacey Keller or Lalas or the other commentator all would have shown better for a single game than *some* of the players.

    Morrow I felt tried hard.

Cronin too but he is limited to defense.

    CHAVEZ.

Gordon did ok for his condition.

So did Opara but his best game *that you can possibly expect* has a very low ceiling.

Baca - ok for the season but like I said Khari while out of form may still have been better.

We just couldn't connect. Galaxy stayed defensive and used speed counter attacks, but we lost the game when they overwhelmed us, however I truly believe that we didn't take chances and were too tentative and *ALL that is* in an elimination game is a WASTE OF TIME when you're already behind.

It is not Ikes death knell. Ike can be very good!

You saw him improve as the game went on.

Problem is that THAT is not what we needed for THIS game!!! You can't give away two goals in this game, you just can't! Ike was injured/out of form. Yallop couldn't have given him minutes even if he wanted to. It's just the luck that goes with the game for this particular detail.

P.S the game lit up when gordon came on, he should have been on in the 65th min. no later, two hoofed chances made the cow tip over for us tonight. It wasn't mooing anymore after muma came off.
just a unfortunate game, but come on guys, we went from being crap last season to champions of the league....who cares about a MLS cup which is stupid anyways.

    just saying

Exactly...but at least the Quakes can get better in a few months instead of having to wait another four years.

Inexperience kills you in these situations. We also need better quality in some positions.

    Playoffs - a bad 30 minutes and you're out - that's how it goes.

Wondo really, really blew that finish after the Gal's first goal. That would have completely changed the complexion of the game. Saunders was on the ground when he hit it. It was an open net.

How much playing time has Ike had the last month? He was rusty, and more or less thrown into the game cold and not game sharp. I'm not going to judge his career prospects on this game.

The Bernardez thing seemed a bit strange to me. He limped when he got up but by the time he was near the bench he was walking with no limp. I've seen him look worse than that many times and stay in the game.

Watching the replay, both Gonzalez and Bernardez had their elbows out on that header where Bernardez got the yellow. Quakes didn't play real composed. Don't know what happened before Lenhart's yellow, but he could have gotten a red there.

Despite playing lousy, they really should have had another goal - the Opara miss near the end or the Wondo miss towards the beginning of the match. They were lucky though that the Gals didn't score on all those counters near the end.

Busch didn't do well on Keane's 2nd goal. Went to the ground too soon there and made it easy for Keane.

I'd like to apologize for the over enthusiastic LA people who have wondered over and trolled, i'm trying to deal with them, and have posted multiple requests in our forum for them to stay out of the San Jose forum.

The guys fought to the end. Even the defensive stops at the very end when LA could have put the nail in the coffin. Glad to see they never said "die." Unfortunate to lose Bernardez so early, but not an excuse. We couldn't put any offense together, despite dominating possession. Failed attacking strategy of lobbing cross after cross when it was doing nothing against LA. No options on the ground until the very end. Glad we got a goal -it was fitting that it went to the very end...

Go Quakes! See you guys next season.

    Well, maybe not everybody..
Ike has never been the same after his injury. I just don't know if he will ever improve.
Jason - again, defensive mistakes, and awfully slow. We need to improve..
Baca. I've been on his case all season, and it seems like others have only recognized this at the end. He does not cut it in the midfield; dare I say, he hurts our team. We need an improvement.

Supporters Shield. What a magical season. Thanks Quakes!!!

Like JazzyJ said this whole year, playoffs are a completely different animal. It's the difference between a domestic cat play fight and a cornered wild animal fighting for its life.

futurequakekeeper you have some nice encouraging words. There's a LOT of great stuff this year despite this clearly disappointing result.

--->CONGRATS to Yallop and the QUAKES on being the BEST team for the 2012 season!<---
CCL will give us more experience and next year will be verrrrry interesting...

Baca and Cronin don't offer any kind of offense or even good forward passing. We need an experienced player in the middle who can score 5-10 goals a year and can add a little magic. Personally I would have started Salinas and played dawkins in the mid but thats just me.

Also hate to say it, but this game is a good example of why Wondo isn't going to get much more international chances cause he got 1 shot tonight and missed big.

Lenhart got hit in the face by a deliberate elbow from Omar. It was a red the ref did not want to call and Lenhart rightly so, dropped Omar to the ground.

I'm home now, and think I cleaned up the garbage. If I missed something, let me know.

LA fans: go gloat in your own forum. Even if you're offering faux congratulations/condolences, go away. If you choose to ignore my advice, you may regret the consequences.
