NYRB should offer free buses from Manhattan, since the PATH will still be down. Going to be more DC fans than NYRB fans at the game.
Will be interesting to see, what if anything, RB does for the local fans in NY/NJ and transportation assistance for Wednesday's game. Slightly contrary to initial reports of MLS/NYRB covering the transportation (bus) costs for away supporters on 11/7, Goff writes that DC United is covering the cost of the (nine) buses taking fans from DC to Harrison on Wednesday (while the league and RBNY are comping the tickets).
It could be unfair for either. Granted this is a mental puzzle now, but if you played the OT and Najar got the red then, it'd hardly be fair for him to play in NJ. Or, if he had a yellow in regulation, another in OT, and another in NJ, that just doesn't seem fair to NJ (or swap for a NJ player). It is what it is and kudos to everyone for getting 600 DC fans to the game for free.
DCU is paying for buses NOT Metros. Metros are providing tickets for free. Also unlike promises in this MLS article (http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...bigger-sport-soccer-guided-ny-dc-venue-switch) they are putting us in same upper section as always, despite what I think will be half empty stadium. Nothing unexpected, but just wanted to remind you guys that you're still in league where lies and deceptions are daily M.O. Not that all the awww MLS awww RB posts weren't cute
i apologize for the initial misinformation about who was paying for the busses... i was reading between the lines in my email and interpreted it wrong. also, the "new" section that is "not in the usual spot" is 220 instead of 221. yeah, thanks.
I was suggesting red cards would result in suspension for the 2nd leg. 2 yellows in DC is a red, so he would be suspended for the NY leg by my proposal. If he got one yellow, it would carry into the 2nd round like it normally would, unless it was in OT and OT ended up being unnecessary. This would not be unfair in any way to either team.
Would it be petty on my part to respond with a modified quote of an unnamed DC fan; "it's only a little wind and snow..."?
It's so seldom I leave the rivalries forum... Anyway, it just started snowing in lower manhattan, so all trash-talk aside, safe travels to those coming up
After all that the match is canceled tonight. Blame MLS for this one. RB wanted to cancel the match yesterday but the league didn't allow it.
Drive home. NJ hotels are still packed due to Sandy with displaced people. No way will they find rooms for 700 people. The Metro fan in me is smiling from ear to ear....
Hopefully MLS or the Red Bulls offer any that can stay a night in a local hotel (or drive to one if there aren't any open near the stadium due to the previous storm). If its true that RB wanted to cancel yesterday and all these fans could have just come up tomorrow that just adds a freaking cherry on top of this MLS Clusterfcuk sundae. Tonight Olsen wanted to play, Backe didn't. The League didn't. Coincidence...?
I have to imagine there are hotels a few hours south. Who knows though. This whole series is just a disaster that i feel bad for all involved. So angry with the league tonight.
Ok....NOW i actually do feel bad for DC fans. This is a mess. If you want to postpone, fine.....but waiting till a half hour before game time is awful.
Actually, they waited until 30 minutes after game time to cancel it. I think the game would have been fun for us fans to watch, but player safety made the move to Thursday the best decision.
