I forgot we tied TFC in the finale of last year. Sadly it felt like a win given Feilhaber's last minute goal and how poor we were all season. I'm sure the article still exists none the less...
Apparently I don't remember that game well at all. We gave up a late goal to TFC (Koovermans) to tie. I'm getting old...
Well ahead of the curve from last year. Those pesky playoff games always mucking up the pre-season plans.
If that was the case they should have planned ahead of time by counting down the games and figuring out Shuttleworth would start from 9/16 onward instead of 9/23 onward. It doesn't take a Duke grad to figure out that would have enabled Reis to start the last home game. But then again planning or logic must be above Heaps's pay grade. This is one of my favorite slogans and very applicable to the Revs' FO: "Fail to plan, plan to fail."
Now that the results are in, it's clear how [non]predictive our sterling 6-0-1 2012 preseason record was to 2012 regular season success. But that tournament is still better than playing college teams.
I remember the excitement early this season from some people ... based on that record. The same people that used to say results don't matter. It's always weird to see how opinions change ...
Here are some players the Revs could/should potentially be trying out: Seven of the Top Young NASL Players MLS Should be Looking At by Brian Quarstad, IMSoccer News 2012 November 5
Kyle McCarthy @kylejmccarthy Discovery window opened as scheduled yesterday. All teams submitted lists, per a league official. #mls
We all knew this would be the FO mentality moving forward after the final few matches. It is sad to see it in writing already. The Natural is the best baseball movie IMO.
Jeff Causey's in the Hall? Well, he was better at the shootout than Zenga was, but seriously, what kind of crieteria do they use? The same way that pretty much every starter from the 1994 US team is in the US HoF, is everyone in the string of good Revs teams in the mid-00s in the New England Hall? Daniel Hernandez and Brian Kamler had better MLS careers than Causey did...
Burns: “I think we were a more competitive team this year,” Burns said. “Last year at this time going into the offseason, we changed more than 50 percent of our roster. I don't foresee us changing 50 percent of our roster again. I don't know what the percentage is going to be exactly, but, for sure, there will be some changes. There have to be.”perhaps not 50% of the roster but replacing close to 50% of the starters would be a good place to start
Is it just me or is it strange that a bunch of the Revs players were at the Celtics game while there were three play off games being played last night ?
