Craig Levein sacked as Scotland coach because of poor results

    I feel all giddy inside.

Gordon Strachan early favourite. That would do for me.

Must the knew guy be a Scot? Or in the SFA looking further afield, too?

After the Berti Vogts fiasco it may be a while before we look beyond our own borders. And anyway, one thing we do seem to do very well in football is manage.

Fair enough. What about Owen Coyle, then? He's looking for a job, too.

You took the words right out of my mouth (well, if we were speaking you would have...)

No doubt the SFA will go for the cheapest option though.

Yep, I think Gordon would be a good choice.

Both Strachan and Coyle are unattached so would definitely fit in with the SFA's cheapskate mentality.

I don't think a new manager is really going to be able to turn things around. But hopefully I can be proven wrong.

I don't think Coyle will come cheap, he won't be short of offers.

I don't think anyone is expecting us to suddenly turn everything around and go on an unbeaten run and qualify for Brazil. That ship has sailed.

I'm hoping to be able to enjoy watching the national team play football again. We have a decent squad at this minute in time but Levein failed to prepare them tactically for matches and failed to inspire them before they went on to the pitch.

A new manager will surely be able to address these faults, which in turn, should see an improvement in performances.

True. But at least they wont have to pay a club compensation for taking their manager if they go down the Strachan, Coyle or McLeish route.

    So happy to see this!

Levein just didn't use the talent he did have at his disposal well enough, was tactically poor and ridiculously defensive. The team didn't seem to be motivated under him (not once could we ever have been said to 'overperform' in a game under him). Adding all that up means he had to go.

We're obviously no world beaters but we've got a decent squad with a couple of genuinely good players and a solid base of Premier League standard players. That's more than a hell of a lot of countries have. A good manager should be able to get this team qualifying for tournaments or at least coming close. Signs of improvements in this campaign, not letting our ranking drop too much more and then qualifying for 2016, that's the objective. I'd be happy with Strachan or Coyle. I'd take McLeish back as well. Don't know enough about Wotte but we've got enough to be going on with those three.

    Is Levein having a laugh?

Craig Levein seeks legal advice after being sacked by Scotland

I cannot believe he has the cheek to even think about complaining over his sacking. He was a complete failure. He was no good at the job he was hired to do. The SFA have stated he will be paid until the end of the current qualifying campaign, thus honouring his contract.
Am I getting the wrong end of the stick here? What exactly has he got to complain about...?
