Leg 2 will indeed be played at RBA on Wednesday, November 7, after a 1-1 draw on Saturday at RFK. Remember, no away goals tiebreaker in MLS, so any draw sends the game to OT. To add to the fun, the PATH isn't running yet (and their communication has been horrible, so who knows if it will be back) and a nor'easter is on the way! Not to mention all the displaced and powerless people in the area.
Decent result in RFK. Now it's time to take care of business at home. No Rafa, Miller, and Le Toux please. Cooper and Henry up top. Backe already said he would start Cooper on Wednesday, as per the announcers on Saturday's broadcast. I don't mind if the midfield stays the same. Maybe take out Tainio, shift Dax into the middle and put Solli out wide. But I'm ok with it staying the same. Forget Rafa and his "tight calf." Put Conde on the field, either in the middle or on the left. Let's get it done and knock DC out.
Henry needs to play better, yesterday was possibly his worst game of the season. Our attack is completely reliant on him being able to hold on to the ball and distribute accurately.
Well this storm isn't going to be anywhere near what we saw with Sandy so I highly doubt it will change anything.
I believe the only areas that could be seriously affected are the ones where any anti-flood infrastructure was damaged during Sandy, shouldn't be an issue as far as keeping power up. Stadium is going to be absolutely empty though, nobody from NYC even has the option of going because the PATH is down.
We have a good team and we should be able to beat a team like DC with no problem but unfortunately the Wizard is our nemesis.. Why he benches the #2 scorer in the league for a player who hasn't gotten any burn lately and that has struggled lately the start is beyond me.. Why he subbed in possibly the worst LB in the league for Marquez is beyond me. Miller was absolutely horrendous yesterday and got burnt several times. The best option there was inserting Solli at RB and switching Lade at LB. Solli isn't the best defender but he's damn good at going forward offensively and he does have a history of torching DC. Or atleast sub in Keel or Ruthven at CB who are still better than Miller. As for the second leg here's what I'm hoping --Henry--Cooper Lade-Cahill--Dax --------Taino Pearce-Conde-Hulk-Barklage ------Robles If Barklage is unable to go insert Solli at RB, Dax should give Solli good coverage.
With the weather on Wednesday, if the game is still on, it will be sloppy. 80% chance of rain and 21 mph winds.
I'm assuming NJ Transit trains from Penn to Newark are running now? That's how I plan to come with no PATH train. Thankfully game is at 8 instead of 7!
That has been the normal of him for 2 years and 1/2 now, play good one game and for his standards and what we expect of him, crap the next or next two games.....And that has been my complain about this old players that for a fortune; at the end we only have 1/4 of the season services or less from them, because like Henry, that beside Donadoni he has been the best foreign acquisition we have, but still, he play only 8 pretty good games this year and the rest (24) games, because or has been in the disability list or playing crap....Same thing about Solli, Tainio, Marquez and Miler..... That Henry is a very good players nobody denies it, but he can't make two games in a row no more at least quality games, he get tired or get hurt and can't perform no more and that is the problem.... We have the chance to go over DCU but for that, our players have to play they best, I mean all of them as a team; a thing that we have not been seeing in a constant way, I hope that they put they act together because if not, DCU will kill us....
Yeah, plenty of people do this, so any visiting fans that might not be thrilled with the prospect of walking at night in Newark, you'll be fine. RB also runs free buses between RBA and Penn Station.
On paper, we have much better players. MUCH. Its not even close really. At Red bull Arena, we usually play good ball. Solid. That said, why am I still on the fence about this one??? Bottom line, these guys are clearly good enough to win it all OR, just as easily, get bumped Wednesday night and begin our of season. There has never been any consistency under Hans and that continues to this day.
It's up to the Hans. If he decides to bench Cooper(unlikely) and start Miller then we are certainly near a defeat. But if he keeps it simple and sticks to the lineups that work we should come away with a victory.. If Barklage and Conde are ready those are huge and I'd even say insert both in the lineup, even 1 of them would be huge. This would be my ideal lineup(although unlikely) ------Henry--Cooper Lade--Cahill--Solli --------Dax Pearce-Conde-Hulk-Barklage -------Robles - I wouldn't mind switching Solli with Dax so Tainio can come on Although we'll probably see something like this knowing Hans ------Henry- Le Toux Lindpere-Cahill-Dax --------Marquez Miller-Pearce-Hulk-lade --------Robles Backe can seriously go ******** himself
It's going to be nasty but winds should max out at around 30 mph, so unless power goes out again there's no chance it gets cancelled.
NJ Transit's website is warning riders that the trains leaving NY Penn are running late due to over crowding. I'd imagine this will still be happening on Wednesday.
And isn't the same Henry who is asking for that?..... He say that Cooper have to improve his game, to learn how to hold the ball a little better and bla..bla..bla....So, I think Backe is benching Cooper for that....
According to Brian Lewis in today's NY Post, Backe is not sure if Cooper will start on Wednesday. http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/soccerblog/red_bulls_coach_may_bench_top_scorer_yj7iQtRMKhXrmAat9HeVGN
