While I remain optimistic, it's very likely (odds-wise anyway) San Jose will advance and the Galaxy's season will end this Wednesday. 2012's been filled with highs and lows, but overall it's probably fair to say the season wound up being "good but not great." Obviously the front office needs to make moves, and if you believe the rumors, we'll have perhaps seen the last of Landon playing as a Galaxy player. The feeling (at least to me) is that he doesn't have a lot of gas left in the thank. Then again, maybe they'll do a farewell season like Cobi Jones did? Then there's Beckham and whether or not he exercises his option. And Juninho's "loan." I'm sure other players have their futures undecided, including (the new goat of the team) Omar. I am happy to have witnessed the last hurrah for the championship winning team as we know it, if Wednesday's finale is indeed the end of that era. I treated myself to a nice seat for tonight's game and enjoyed the match for more than just the one game I was watching. The match should have really ended differently, but credit to San Jose for stealing one away.
Hey, Chin Up! Like as others have said, it's 1-0 at halftime and we've done pretty well in California's Armpit (san jose) this season. Let's stun the crowd and the predictors and steal this one away... The planning for next year would be to replace Omar if he leaves, and take the DP money spent on LD and DB (assuming they're leaving) and do some serious shopping - - perhaps even spending some bucks on Omar to entice him to stay. And certainly get some more talent like Robbie Keane and find a top-level keeper to compete with Saunders. Cheers, Topper
It's probably early for the discussion, I guess I was just trying to savor the flavor. Nobody every likes to think the "band is breaking up." But I suppose even if we do pull of the upset there's likely to be changes in the off season. Since I can't make it to San Jose, I've figured this was the last home game I'll go to with this team in its entirety. While it's pure conjecture until later, it stands to reason it's a safe bet ONE of the big three will be gone next season. Keane, Becks, or Landon - I can't see all three staying put.
The only thing that will be different next year is that we will have Christiano Rinaldo with Becks, LD and Keane. Erase this thread. We aren't done yet. Goonies never die bull... Heroes get remembered but legends never die. Our team is legendary!
No doubt, which was why I was taking in every moment of last night's match. The nucleus is going to dissolve, certainly.
I think that Bruce has already started building for the future, We have a solid core at the back when health and a solid midfield in magee, Wilhemson, Sarvas, Juninho. They have showed that they can pass the ball in one touch football that is pretty to look at. Keane is still up front. We will have room to add, if Becks and Landon leave, two great pieces to make a run again. Except for a couple of years in our history we are parenial championship contenders. I don't expect a 07 style drop off. We are still LA.
Another home game. Can't wait. And it's against a team we typically play well against. I was hasty in writing this team off. It seems every time I do, they prove me wrong. No they're in the western conference finals. Who'd have thought in April. Feel free to flame me, I have it coming.
