i've never watched a roma derby.

On a scale of 0-10 how awsome is it?
On a scale of 0-10 how Dangerous is it?

Will a Neutral like me enjoy it? I'm pulling for roma since i want lazio to not catch up to us!

I am hoping burdisso plays instead of castan. He was very good yesterday as well.

I would go with same defence line we played with yesterday, and take way goicochiea for stek.

I wouldn't touch Goico. He's way more motivated than Stek.

Guys when you make match threads please formulate the title properly:

Match Day: Home Team - Away Team (Month Day, Year) [R]

I know it seems trivial but leaving out something like the year means that the thread becomes impossible to find once it get's buried a few pages back. If it's done properly then it's easy to search and find any match even 5 years after the fact.

I was impressed with Burdisso yesterday. I think the one thing he has over Castan is that he's much more of a leader and much better in talking to the other defenders and keeping them organized. I think the crucial bit is keeping Marcos in the equation. To go back to Burdisso & Castan would be a huge mistake. We need a reactive player like Marcos in the mix. I would definitely not be displeased seeing Burdisso & Marcos in the derby.

As for Goicochiea, I'm just going to come out and say it. For all the hype surrounding him I have never been convinced by Stekelenburg. I don't think he's half the goal keeper that some make him out to be. We saw some good things from Goicochia last night. He communicate better and make himself understood with this back line. He seems confident and very reactive. We have to keep in mind we played against nothing yesterday, but still I think I might like to see more of him.

we go to this game as favorites, and the one with momentum.
Lazio havent won their last 3 games. Loss to fiorentina & Catania away ( both tough teams on the road), and a draw at home to torino ( i believe they had hernanes, ledesma suspended).

Bar destro, and sculli (betting scandal) no one is suspended from both sides. Castan, Tachtsidis, Burdisso risk to miss the next game if they get yellow carded.

Thanks.I thought it was for 2 yellow cards that a player get suspended. Being not the popular sport in India,we Indians have less knowledge about football

I can't believe it, I thought we would never agree on anything !! Looks like this could be the start of a wonderful relationship ;)

Seriously though Goicochiea should be given a chance. Stekelenburg has been crap all season albeit he has a crap defensive line in front of him, he isn't the world class goal keeper people go on about. Hopefully Goicochiea will be our Pelizzoli (I mean the younger, better one, not the nervous wreck we later had), although they is always a chance he turns into Curci.

Expect goals, many cards, and at least a dozen crap tackles on Totti.

And I kind of wish Lazio got a win last game. They are due for a win now.

Retesport.it has a poll on the preferred midfield for the derby, currently it stands:

De Rossi, Tachtsidis, Florenzi - 51.5%
De Rossi, Tachtsidis, Bradley - 24.2%
    Bradley, Tachtsidis, Florenzi - 9.1%
    Bradley, Tachtsidis, Marquinho - 0%
Bradley, De Rossi, Pjanic - 15.2%

    Stekelenburg
    Piris - Burdisso - Castan - Balzaretti
De Rossi - Tachtsidis - Florenzi
    Lamela - Osvaldo - Totti

I like Marcos but against an experienced striker like Miroslav Klose you will need Burdisso and Castan. I don't understand all the hype around Goicoechea and all the people saying he's already better than Stekelenburg. Goicoechea hasn't showed anything yet, only 1 game against a very poor Palermo.

For me removing Marcos is insanity, he's our best defender bar none. You don't remove your best defender. Plus with Zeman's football it's especially crazy to remove the one defender who is fast and good in anticipating play.

Also and this is a gamble, because I admit I'm not sold on him, but I would gamble on Goicoecha. Stekelenburg is grossly overrated and has not lived up to his potential and hype. But that is a big gamble and perhaps the derby is not the time and place.

Based on form I'd be in the 9.1% but maybe this game is the kick up the back side De Rossi needs

De Rossi shouldn't be anywhere near the squad, not only does he need to be dropped for "er derby" but also for more, he has quite frankly become a liability for us.
