Being 9 games into the season I think determines how we should take it (LPB still the main threat). LPb won 21* straight league games starting late September, 2011. Won 12* straight starting early October, 2010. Won 18* straight starting January, 2010. Won 17, tied 1, lost 0 starting December, 2008. * = excluding clasicos.
Sorry, el-cap, I tried; but to do so, I apparently have to have an account on Facebook. Which I don't.
Málaga lose at home to Rayo Vallecano. No fluke, either, it was very evenly matched. LPB can jump into the Top 3 with a home win against Real Zaragoza. Pathetico are away to Valencia. Big weekend.
Pablo Hernandez, ex-Valencia player, scores near the end for Swansea to earn a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
LPB have "Animo Marcelo" on the front of their blouses today instead of the usual gambling company sponsor. Nice show of support, and I'd rather see shirt messages used for such things... but is this some kind of attempt to upstage our "Anims Abidal"? I mean, Marcelo broke his foot, and that sucks for LPB (although you could argue they're stronger without him on the pitch). But Abidal's life was in danger when he was diagnosed. Just feels like LPB is cheapening the gesture a bit. Not to mention how it makes Cointhrow and Arbeloa feel.
Yes and no. No because they don't play Barca anytime soon so they could easily run off a 13-17 game winning streak now that they only have to worry about the "cannon fodder 18" in the league until March-April. Atletico have a 0.0% chance of doing that. In fact, they are part of the cannon fodder.
Juve about to lose their Serie A invincibility to Inter. Haven't lost all of last year and are still unbeaten this year. 1 x 2 with 10 mins to go
haha... Ibra with a red-card and PSG lose at home. Is there another striker in the world that gets more red cards than this overrated one? Even Rooney has calmed down a bit in that regard. Title-race totally back on in Italy. Looks like Germany might have the worst title race among the top UEFA leagues this season despite everyone always drooling over the competitiveness of the Bundesliga.
lol Yeah, I'm guilty of that. Will always be given history in recent years (especially 2009). Last season's race was a fairly one-sided affair too but it was Dortmund, not Bayern, who set the record for most points ever in a Bundesliga season. Still, we're only ten rounds in and if BATE Borisov can upend Bayern in Europe then there's hope yet domestically.
Neymar with a hattrick today, taking him to 53 goals for the 2012 calendar year. Easy to see why he is such a big star at the moment, really hope we sign him up next summer.
Most of those goals were in the state championships and in Brazil friendlies against teams like Iraq and China. Obciously he is insanely talented, but he hasn't really hadmuch impact for club or country this year. 2011 was a way better year for him.
Yea, he didnt have much impact in club world cup final, olympic final and libertadores semi. He has played against Argentina 3 times and the only time he scored when it was against Argentina B recently and from penalty spot. Players like Martin Palermo scored 91 goals in 124 for Boca and 145 goals in 280 matches in his second stint, impressive stats but only 25 goals in 105 matches during his tenure in Spanish football. Just compare Robinho stats during his time in Santos to his stats in AC milan and Real madrid, it come up short. Aguero 100 goals in la liga weighted more than 100 goals in south american league.
Neymar didn't score in the Olympic final, but he was very important in getting the team to the Final being involved in almost every goal. And he is only 20. Take it easy, he will burn Argentina soon enough
True, but how many of these Brazilian superstars put up such numbers in South American leagues at age 19/20? Neymar is a really special player and he has grown so much in the past two years. He's improving his game everywhere, from his shooting to his pressing, dribbling, defending, creativity, decision making, etc. I started watching him back when Santos made it to the Libertadores knockout stages in 2011 and he has impressed me a lot to see how far he has come since. He still has so much to work on because he has been marked out of games completely on some occasions but with the desire he has to improve himself and become a better player, he can't go wrong. I wish he comes to Barca next summer but who would make place? I don't want any of Villa, Alexis, or Pedro to go.
Neymar is a talent but he needs to move or he is not going to improve. The Brasilian league is more of a open game, and when defenses collapse on him he struggles, Velez youngster Peruzzi has locked him down a couple times already. So I think he has done all he could do in Brasil, it is time to see how much his star shines when he is in a different league.
That Luis Suarez goal today was incredible. The was he trapped the ball with his chest was just phenomenal. Probably one of the best chest traps I have ever seen. If you ever played as a striker in your life you appreciate it that much more.
