Forget the last game, and lets focus on this one.Palermo at home, it should be an 'easy' game, but nothing is easy with us. Palermo's record away from home is poor this year, 3 losses and 2 draws. And they have scored only one goal in those 5 games.

Important player missing for them is hernandez, who is out for long. Players who risk suspension from our side in case they get yellow is castan and taxi.

Will balzaretti return? what is stek's injury latest news? Will Miccoli kill us?

After this game we have lazio next, so castan should avoid being yellow carded at all costs.

It doesn't really matter. We will lose the derby anyway.

Aside from the fact that I don't want to think of the derby, I find that I like going into a derby as the underdog.

Guessing Roma's results right now is a coin flip. + the potential for the score to flip flap 2 or 3 times during a game. This is the early stages of Zeman's team, a work in progress but he really needs a comfortable win to less the stress

No chance of getting any points from the next two games.

Nobody really goes into a derby as the underdog (especially one as big as this). Form book goes out the window, we see it time and time again. No way im going to predict this one

Zeman NEEDS a win. A loss to Palermo and then a drubbing from Lazio could easily end his tenure as manager.

i agree, as loved as zeman is 3 consecutive defeats would be catastrophic and the derby pressure would crush the team probably..but this roma are Jekyll and hyde, could we see a thrashing of palermo and then rob Nazio and take all three points? nonetheless these next two games are pivotal

I hate saying things like this but here goes - these next 2 games could make or break our season. Yes it's early in the season but IF we lose to Lazio and heavily it could be the end of Zeman no matter what happens against Palermo. Fans are already getting impatient

    I think you'll beat Palermo.

As much as I enjoy Zeman's football porn, why can't he implement defensive tactics, to his overall tactics, is he really that stubborn?

Anyway in my opinion the Napoli-Roma match will be very high scoring 6-5 Napoli!

I'm expecting another loss. We'll also blow another 2 goal lead.

Daniele, Osvaldo and Stek are doubtful for the games as they left training yesterday. Although, i would be surprised if they don;t recover.

Does Osvaldo miss this game bc of yellows?

They are reporting that Balzaretti has recovered and is available for this game.

It's also being reported that both De Rossi and Osvaldo had injury problems in training. De Rossi a problem with his ankle.

So much destabilization being done by the media. I wish the club would move to squish these stories.

Today Roberto Maida with Corriere Dello Sport claims a Roma player, one of the leaders, said to a Parma that if it wasn't raining they (Parma) would have scored another four goals.

That's a story that can easily be dismissed. Even if it's true take a minute and make a press release that says it's not. No one can prove otherwise without a player coming out and saying so, and no one is going to do that.

So much stuff they could just say is wrong but nothing comes of it, which is ridiculous because in the states the teams all of these guys are a part of get on rumors like this and press people have statements really quickly.

Aldair put things right, Zeman philosophy has always been outscoring the opponent. His teams were always defensively poor, but offensively unstoppable.
But this team even for zeman standards is poor defensively. We have bunch of nobodies in defence!

Here is how many goals zeman teams conceded in serie a in the past.
    - Lazio 1994 - 1995 finished second, serie a was 34 games back then.Lazio conceded 34 goals. 1 goal per 1 game. Lazio scored 69 goals in 34 games ( best attack in the league)
    - Lazio 1995 - 1996 finished third. Again 34 game league, Lazio conceded 38 goals ... And they ended one more time best attack in the league with 66goals.
    - Lazio 1996 - 1997 finished fourth. Again 34 game league, Lazio conceded 37 goals... And they scored 54 goals ( 2nd best attack in the league)
    - Roma 1997 - 1998 finished fourth. Again 34 game league, We conceded 42 goals... and scored 67 goals ( best attack in the league)
    - Roma 1998 - 1999 finished fifth. Again 34 game league, we conceded 49 goals...and scored 69 goals ( best attack in the league)
    - Leece 2004 - 2005 finished 11, 38 game league. Conceded 73 goals, and scored 66 goals ( best attack in the league).

This team right now in 10 games conceded 19 goals, on pace for conceding 72 goals! Even cagliari game was handed to us 3 - 0 !
Even pescara last year in serie b conceded 55 goals in 42 games.

From what I gather the most of our goals come from individual errors. Sure Zeman's tactics make us prone to counter attacks, but overall I think we absorb a lot of that pressure. Against Udinese the first goal is on free kick with Osvaldo who clears the ball in the wrong direction. You can't blame that kind of stuff on the tactics. Even the second goal against Udinese comes with the entire defensive line in place and with Piris who fails to move Di Natale into an offside position. I just feel like the biggest problems have manifested themselves before Zeman. We concede the same goals we did with Ranieri in his second year.

I don't know, last year our defenders were pure garbage and yet we still conceded only around half as many as we have now. We definitely have some faults with our defenders, but it is no where near as terrible as Angel-Heinze-Kjaer-Rosi was. Those players would get beaten over and over by some of the worst players in Italy week after week, yet they still conceded less goals.

I think it's just a mixture of Zeman's tactics and our midfield not doing their job. De Rossi injured might end up being a blessing this weekend. I'd like to see if our defensive issues are resolved with a midfield of Florenzi-Tacht-Bradley/Marquinho.
