I was going to say... Different times. In the modern game there is no way one person can single handedly win a title for anyone..
They only conceded 3 goals up to the final. How was it "pure shit"? Bilardo was known for his strong defensive tactics actually and one of the biggest reasons for Argentina's success under him was their defense.
I've meant their defensive players were shit, but yeah, their system was more defensive ... If Argentina play a more defensive minded system I believe Messi can do the rest too, just like Maradona did, back in 86 ... PS: Maradona was crap in his 1st WC too, 1982 ...
The french table toppers PSG, are openly planning for their next coup. 100 Million EUROS for CR7 LOL...are they worse than Mancity yet?
Thiago Silva is a top class center back but the overall problem is still within the quality and balance of the first team. Silva and Ibrahimovic are both no players for the future. They were bought for immediate success but the rest of the team can't keep up with the two of them quality wise. Some of their young talented players haven't made the next step, others have been just overrated and most importantly there is no axis of players who represent PSG. Though Chelsea is an oligarch club they had a three top class British players who represented the team for almost a decade. PSG hasn't something similar and thats also a reason why Manchester City is struggling. Instead of spending big on names they should have risen the overall quality of the team first and then added top quality players later down the line but as it is now it seems just like a big waste of money. At least a traditional club like AC Milan benefited of their actions even though you could say that Milan and Inter were what PSG and Man'City are now. After all Berlusconi and Moratti spent hundreds of millions of euros over the years.
Silva is a buy for the next 4 - 5 years guys, he's 28 not 35. He'll probably be the worlds best centerback for a few seasons at least.
Yah baz I was referring to Argentina The argument of messi ever winning a World Cup. My answer is no..
I think Man City are suffering the problem of not relying on youth. Not sure if this is entirely sustainable or not. Its worked miracles for us, BVB, United and of course barcelona.
Man U? The current crop or the late 90s crop? I don't know which players came out of their current youth system..
Theyre still reaping the benefits of scholes, fletcher and giggs. That might not have been the best example, but that is down to the incompetence of the english FA more than anything else. I think Welbeck and Cleverley look like great players though. Keep in mind Bayern's philosophy changed with LVG I think, he taught us that investing in german youth is the best way to go. It is I believe, and Can put an emphatic display tonight as well.
Nevertheless, he played very well and with confidence against one of the best 2.Buli teams (that might be a 1.Buli team next season) and he's only 18 ... If it was up to me I'd loan him for 6 months in the winter transfer window (for a team that actually need a DM/CM of course), for when Tymo leave next season he could be integrated as a part of the 1st team ... Similar to what we did to Alaba ...
Thats a good idea, but you risk ending his career if he is used too often and never delivers. Keep him with Bayern now, loan him off next season (and sell tymo). 3 holding midfielders is a good enough number. Bring him back the season after. That would be my intuition at least, but i won't be surprised if he gets loaned now if heynckes decides he's that good. Anyway, I'm really pleased with how heynckes is handling the team. Superb coach, shame he couldn't bring the CL last season.
Yah it really was a disaster that we didn't win it... I Think JH did all he could with what he had and got us to 3 finals... It's not his fault we had no bench...
It's not JH fault that we didn't had no depth at all, that our most reliable player got injuried in overtime (Ribs) and that most of our Key players choked ...
And some were too scared.... It's better to step up and miss then to just chicken out I think... People will always remember that
When I see this.... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...landon-donovan-eyes-break-from-soccer?cc=5901 ... it reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?wc=GA1sHw5wBXRDAQpyAgkdFxUKThc=&v=vN2WzQzxuoA
First line is right, second isn't.. 3-4 years down the line, people won't remember that Kroos and Tymo refused to take penalties (some of us might, I'm talking about the general public), but the fact that Schweinsteiger and Olic missed will be stats, will be shown in highlight reels. That is what people will see and remember. And this is why the above said players chickened out. Its a bitter pill for us fans to swallow, but the amount of pressure they must have felt can't be taken lightly. Kroos could be forgiven, but Tymo probably should have stepped up. He is more experienced, he probably should have dealt with it better. That was a disappointment for me, since he's one of the best professionals I've seen. Doesn't complain much, doesn't usually shirk from responsibility. A few more regular games and some much needed confidence, and probably he would have stepped up, won us the cup, become a legend. Hindsight is so easy isn't it...
He has excellent technique for a guy so huge, and a good physical presence to be a forward. But is he good at holding up the ball? He does seem a bit slow to me. All said and done, till the time he's at Frankfurt, he's isn't getting a call up. If Kiessling doesn't get called up, Meier most probably doesn't stand a chance either.
