Due to the potential of being a douchebag or due to the fact that he is committing assault on fashion?

Our power just came back on a little bit ago. We rode the storm out here at home, though I must admit, I was pretty freakin' nervous if not down right scared at times. Only minor damage here though thankfully. It seems very random to me the damage in my area. On one block a pair of withered corn stalks remained standing while on the next a tree had fallen over just grazing the house it once shaded. I used to live in tornado alley ( I was born in KC and grew up there and north Texas) but this was worse because it just dragged on and on--and we were lucky. HArd to imagine what it must have been in the worst of it.

so happy you are OK. LBdottir is back in Morningside Heights and things are OK. But lower Manhattan, Staten Island, Long Island, andNew Jersey are still really messed up. We drove her back and were in Manhattan last night and today before driving back to DC. One of the big problems is food. Many people had three days supply but power may be out in places for two weeks and with flooding and other problems it is hard to get food into stores and out to people. In a lot of high rise buildings downtown in Manhattan the older people can't walk up and down 15-20 flights of stairs so getting them food and water is a problem. Also there is a run on gasoline in the suburbs as people are using the cars for heat and to charge phones but are running out of gas. At the same time many people are using home generators and those are running out of gas so people are lined up at service stations with jerry cans to get gas for their generators. Leaving the city we saw mile long lines at motorway service areas waiting for gas. It is a sad situation. Never mind all the beach front areas that were totally wiped out.

Well, if it's not set up nicely, after all. Vettel has been disqualified from qualification so starts at the back of the grid. Now all Alonso needs to do is avoid Grosjean at Turn 1 and it will be match on.

    Good to hear that.

How are the rest of the guys in the hurricane-hit areas?

I was wondering about that. Hamilton stalled out (lack of gas) on one of his pole wins this season and had to start at the back of the pack. I was wondering that seeing it's Vettel would they do anything different....sort of a Suarez, Terry thingy. But no and I like it.

Now it's up to Hamilton and Alonso to see if they can capitolize on it.

I'll be on the deck of my yacht watching in the AM.

I approve of this following spam. :D
    --------------------------------------------------------------

Attn all of our facebook users in BigSoccer:

Sydney FC in the A-League have created a competition to design a one off third jersey strip to raise money for charity. A friend of the BigSoccer community has created a few designs, which he has entered into the competition.

All we need is a few seconds to click on either the image or the link of one of the jersey concepts, or even all if you want, and give a "like".

Interesting race wasn't it. Nobody could predict that.
I think Webber won some sort of award for hitting the most cars, the most times throughout a race.
Hamiltons car dies when he's running away with it
The annoying little Kraut starts last (23rd) and gets 3rd place.
    Timmi gets his first win

I was just messing around with one of those world maps where one puts a pin in all the places traveled to and noticed that in Montana there is a town called Spion Kop.

The Butte Montana area has a large population of Irish who came to work the mines. Wouldn't be a stretch that one or more of them came via Liverpool

Sorry I have not been on here as often as I'd like, gents: for the past 2 months, been swamped with work and school and last week I did not have power ('till Sunday night).

'Been following our short-passing side, though: went to my local diner this Sunday to watch the Newcastle game. :)

    YNWA and cheers.

Just got back to La La Land after a 12-day stay in NYC, in the midst of Sandy. I was in Williamsburg, staying with friends, and there wasn't much to complain about, aside from the L train not running and a few downed trees.

Made it to the 11th St Bar for both the Derby (proud that I made the 9:30am kickoff after a 6:00am bedtime!) and the Newcastle game. Great spot and I'm happy to say it'll be my new home for LFC games, as I've decided I'm moving to New York. I've been in LA for 7 years and while I absolutely love it, I've grown a bit complacent and have always wanted to live in NYC. I'm not getting any younger and have an amazing landing pad (apt. in Williamsburg with friends for $1,000/month) waiting, so I'm pulling the trigger.

I'd be lying if I said kickoffs three hours later weren't factoring into the decision. ;)

I liked NY went I went there. A lot more than LA, but that was probably more due to the fact I was at the end of a 3.5 month holiday and all travelled out, wanting to go home. :)

Well, I think LA is a tough place to visit, unless you got a local to take care of you. It's huge and hard to get around, even if you rent a car. I do love my lifestyle here though, and see myself coming back at some point, but itching for a change and the opportunity is too good to pass up.

Which is to say, of course, that there's a lady involved. ;)

    So whipped. :D

I was staying with a distant relative in Long Beach who did take me around everywhere, but like I said I was over travelling at that point and wanted to get home. :)

I lived in Manhattan for 4 years - right in the Lincoln center area. A lot of fun - but so damaging to the wallet.
