Knock on wood obviously, but im assuming we're gonna get in pretty easily. Since we're less than 2 years away, how about everyone predicts the world cup roster and it will be fun to look back in 2 years and see how things have changed or not. A squad has 23 spots, 3 have to be goalies.

    Goalies
    1. Corona
    2. Ochoa
    3. Orozco

    Defenders
    4. Maza
    5. Moreno
    6. Nilo
    7. Mier
    8. Meza
    9. Jimenez
    10. Reyes

    Mids

    11. Zavala
    12. Herrera
    13. Chaton
    14. Jona
    15. Guardado
    16. Aquino
    17. Fabian
    18. Reyna

    Forwards
    19. Chicharito
    20. Gio
    21. Peralta
    22. Vela

    Final Spot
    23. Salcido

I think the final spot will be between Jona, Cabrera, and Salcido for the fourth d mid spot. Salcido gets rewarded for his work over the years. This leaves out De Nigris, Elias, Pena, Talavera. I don't really see any breakout young players making the squad. I think Chepo will go with his old gaurd while integrating the key pieces of the Gold Medal team.

If they won't play qualifiers/GC/CC in order to focus on their euro clubs, they don't deserve to be in.

if Vela doesn't play the Hex or at the very least the Confed Cup, then i don't see him making the WC team

I think Marquez makes the squad, not playing but being on the team. Guys have to remember that out of the 23 on the squad only approx 16 even see the field if that, so you have 5 field players that will never see the field. So if one of those spots is Marquez, I'm ok with that.

it'd be pointless since he plays the same positions as Maza, Moreno, Ayala, Mier, Reyes, Zavala, Chaton, Herrera, JDS, Cabrera, etc and they're all in better form. Out with Torrado, Castro, Zinha, Salcido and Marquez. Keep Marquez as an auxilar though.

Oldest players allowed should be Maza and Corona. We need to build a future of chemistry, not hope for some "veteran" to have the tournament of their life IMO.

You're usually a sensible poster and take this as an amicable response but this makes no sense. They both refused call ups over the summer to focus on their clubs, and that's been it. They were not called up to the following qualifiers not out of refusal, but because Chepo decided not to. As for the Gold Cup and Confederations, I think you know that's a ridiculous statement to support your argument; it's a year from now for christ's sake let's at least wait and see what happens. And in any case, do you really think they'll refuse call ups again a year from now after both have been with their clubs for a full season (JDS maybe not but for all intents and purposes)?

Why do people rate this guy so much?

Above average speed forwards turn this guy inside out on the man mark.

Last season he had a below average club season......i was watching the game the other day, this guy came on like at the 89th minute -_-.

I know we have to stick with moreno considering his age and how he is the viable young CB with euro experience.......but Maza should definitely be replaced at one point.

Last game showed exactly why neither he or Moreno are not the leader our defense demands....we looked like another team with the salida Torrado(of all players -_-)was commanding. Pelotazo's kept to a minimum, he always kept Jimenez and Torres Nilo pushing up to attack. Maza has no voice.

I agree, I don't understand why people people rate Maza so high....the few times I have watched him with Stuttgart he gets wrecked...constantly in and out of the starting lineup...he is a solid defender but 18 months from now is a different story....I would allot rather see a 24 year old Mier in 2014 than a 32 year old Maza.

On top of that Maza has never won a single trophy with the national team...guess it will take a poor performance in the Confed cup to drop him...I respect the guy he works hard and gives it all when he is out there but in all honestly he will be way past his peak come 2014...he will make the squad without a doubt I have no problems with that but I hope it isn't a full time starter by then.

But who will take over the captains arm band when he is gone? Guardado and Moreno are the only ones that stand out Corona also...but will he be our #1 in 2014? if we make it to the semis in the Confed corona defiantly deserves the #1 spot.

Solid list, apart from Jimenez (CF) and Davila and Pulido.. and maybe even Jona

From the way things are going, there is no way they make the WC list.

Davila hasn't even been part of any NT call up since he moved to Europe, i doubt he suddenly becomes a legitimate candidate

There would have to be an incredible drop off in level in our striker pool for Jimenez to make it. I mean De Nigris and Peralta would have to be injured for Jimenez to go. Even then i think he would be a stretch.

Pulido is another guy who i think is a long shot. Not enough playing time.

Jona i can see making it, but he would have to get called up first.

We still got a way to go and things can change, but the way things are headed right now, I think Marquez and Peana take your 22 and 23 spot.

Jona is easily our best mid with the ball. It would be a travesty if he doesn't get called up again.

there's only a handful of players that are guaranteed to be on the WC team - Gio, Chicharito, Guardado, Moreno, Corona, Torres Nilo - of course hopefully no one is injured

as for the rest, i think it's a bit premature to make a list just yet. between now and April/May 2014 there could be a few surprises.

My Squad (NOT WHO CHEPO WILL PROBABLY CHOOSE)
*FORM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THINK AS IF THEY WERE IN THEIR BEST FORM*
    GK: G. Ochoa, J. Corona, J. Orozco
    DEF: S. Meza, I. Jimenez, H. Moreno, H. Mier, F. Rodriguez, H. Ayala, J. Nilo
    MID: A. Guardado, J. Zavala, H. Herrera, J. Enriquez, J. Aquino, J.D. Santos, A. Reyna
    ATT: C. Vela, J. Hernandez, G.D. Santos, O. Peralta, M. Fabian, A. Pulido

I Would bring in R. Marquez to still give advice and guidance (similar to Beckham in 2010 WC with England).

Chepo's Squad (PUTTING INTO EFFECT HIS RECENT CALL UP DECISIONS)

    GK: J. Corona, G. Ochoa, A. Talavera
    DEF: H. Moreno, F. Rodriguez, S. Meza, J. Nilo, I. Jimenez, H. Mier, H. Ayala, C. Salcido
    MID: A. Guardado, A. Reyna, J. Zavala, H. Herrera, J. Enriquez, J. Aquino, R. Marquez (P.Barrera)
    ATT: J. Hernandez, O. Peralta, G.D. Santos, A.D. Nigris, M. Fabian
