So we made it--i dont know if it's because of or in spite of Backe--but yes we made it. We also managed to avoid the dreaded Halloween wild card game. Next up is Red Bulls vs DC United ---the first leg will be at home!! Nov 3 or 4 (they still havent decided) and the return leg will be Nov 7 at RFK stadium. We need to beat DC in a desperate way to spite them and also to advance in the playoffs-- eliminating them would be sweet and would help to get years of bad mojo playing this team off our back.....
Hopefully One thing is guaranteed--this game will be a classic. Unfortunately over the past several years it has been very rare for these 2 teams ot meet when they are both in good form. Both DC and Red Bull are no longer suck teams. I hope we see a celebration of soccer in the stands and a nail biting game on the field--with Red bulls winning it of course!! The only thing that makes me nervous about this game is the on again-off again inconsistency of this team. I hope they show up ready to play, DC is no Philly cellar dweller......
If you go to the MLS site and go to the schedule for Nov it has our game on Sat. Saw the time somewhere else. Sat Nov 3rd at 8. Really don't want to miss the game. This wedding is killing me.
8 pm and you will still be at a wedding?!! for goodness's sake man stay at the reception for 1 or 2 hours and then get back home immediately to watch the playoff game!!
With the exception of Conde and Barklage the team is all what it is, and hope that they will come ready to play, because if they come "giving them self airs of greatness" because they beat Philly, they will have a very rough wake up; because not one of the teams that make the pay off is Philly or something alike.... To win the CUP, you will have to play after the DCU eliminator series games(2), with SKC for the East Division Crown and after that for the MLS CUP the winner of the West division and there isn't a easy way out playing any of this team.... The game against Philly was a good game, but we have to recognize that Philly is a team of a bunch of 18, 19, 20 and 21 years old kids(14 of them) and from the 14 players that were on the game yesterday; 9 of them are 21 and under, they are in they first years and only can be compare to the reserve of the RBNY or any other reserve team on the MLS.... So, the only hope to be left is to play our best for 90 minutes of the game every one of the game of this play off, a thing that has been our headache all this years....CONSISTENCE....
I am thinking I could make it. Wedding is up north about 15-20 mins away from RBA. Wedding is suppose to kick-off at 4. Say they get everything going about 4:15. Wedding would be about 30 mins maybe and then I am guessing a cocktail hour. That takes me to around 5:45 or 6. Then I have about two hours for everything else. I think it is doable. Just don't want to be a d--- and bail out real early.
Weddings almost always start late my man---if they say 4:00, you can almost take it to the bank that they will actually begin at about 4:45 or 5pm. If you dont want to bail early cause you think it might hurt some feelings, then set up the dvr and watch it as soon as you get back home.....
This. Or if he's lucky ESPN is airing the game and he can just watch it on ESPN3.com at any time.. As for the game no reason we shouldn't use the same lineup. DC isn't a very good offensive team so can gamble a bit and insert Solli for Tainio but otherwise stick to the same. Dax has been playing much better offensively in recent weeks so I think we can gamble and give him more freedom in the midfield. He's doing a great job of finding the pockets of space to keep possesion and he does a good job at linking passes together. BTW, does anyone know if DeRo will be playing or not?
Don't want to look too far ahead, but IF we get through the East, we host MLS Cup against anyone except San Jose.
Looks like DeRo will NOT be playing, at least not in this round. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...2/10/24/a-few-minutes-with-dwayne-de-rosario/
LOVED this. Haters can say what they want about Henry being old/slow/blah blah blah. Guy wants to win at all costs. He's a bull.
Heh heh--couldn't help but notice that Thierry Henry is on a purple background in that clip In order to continue the theme of purple and the fact that Red Bulls avoided the wildcard game i here present for your pleasure Michael Jackson "chopped and screwed" also known as "slowed and throwed." The music is nice and slow, but hopefully the team's attack this weekend wont be slow.....
Any chance they move the game cause of the storm and any damage to the surrounding areas? How's everyone doing?
I hope not but given the fact that Red Bull Arena is right next to the river--there is always the possibility that the area around the stadium could be flooded. Starting the series away would suck--but the good thing would be that we would finish at home. As far as how things are going where i live (north bergen) the wind is strong and it is only getting stronger. I fear that by night the wind could be downright violent. We've had lots of rain--but so far no rain in sheets.
I wouldn't mind them pushing the game to Sunday or Monday. Then pushing the away game to Thursday or Friday. Depending on how bad the damage is there might not be many people showing up Saturday if they play. Im down in Monmouth. Thankfully not on the shore. The shore towns are getting hammered with flooding. Going to get worse when high tide comes. I haven't gone around town. Just went outside to look down the street a few times. Talked to family and friends around town and the damage hasn't been so bad around us. Rain hasn't been very bad. Main problem is the wind, but the trees seem to be holding up pretty good. It will get worse though.
I doubt that they will need to move the game due to flooding. While ocean flooding in Central/South Jersey is at catastrophic levels, rivers in North Jersey are not expected to flood.
