There is still hope, S.J. themselves were 5 up with 4 to go in 2003, but lost the SS to Chicago by 2 points. The other more spectacular collapse was Bayer "Neverkusen" of Germany, who was 5 up with 3 to go in Bundesliga 2001/02, yet ended-up as runners-up to Borussia Dortmund.
Congratulations! K.C. has now earned more points (58) in less games (31) than the double-winning team in 2000 (57 points over 32 games). Keep up the good work for the rest of the season, and a new team record may well be set for single-season PPG as well...
Sure, if '98 L.A. can do it within 6 games, surely '12 K.C. can achieve it in double quick time! That isn't the correct use of the word "defunct" is it? Defunct would be like the Miami Fusion, right? Just want to make sure my understanding of the word matches up. Didn't the article kind of short-change our 2004 run, too? We didn't win the Supporter Shield by what, the 3rd tiebreaker, and we lost the MLS Cup because of a missed handball call.
How about we score 149 in our next match instead? Or I guess technically just get some one to put in 149 own goals for us...
We lost the Shield in 2004 by the 3rd tiebreaker, we won it in 2000 on the first. You are correct, that is an incorrect usage of the word "defunct".
K.C. maybe motivated to score 25+ goals over the next 3 games, wipe out the GS/GD advantage of S.J., and take a giant step towards the 2nd-leg of "The (Amazing) Treble"...
with a shakeup like this, no way SJ pulls out 3pts in Colorado. http://www.bulldogsupporters.com/news/article.php?newsID=20120102_news Probably getting too far ahead, but SJ's last game (@ Portland, NBC Sports) is three days after we host Philly. Too bad.
Are you sure? After all, it is going to end the cacophony involved with having two different songs coming out of the north end half the time.
Following Chic.'s unexpected loss to Phil. on Oct-3, K.C. can clinch the East with a win if the N.Y. game this weekend produce no winners...
MLS: The quest to set new club records in 2012 Updated club records for K.C. through Oct-24 as below. Congratulations for finishing as SS Runners-up & setting 2 new club records (Most PPG, Least GA) and extended the other 2 (Most Points, Most Regulation Wins) along the way!!
Two fewer goals conceded in two more games played. That's impressive. 2000 defensive team was outstanding, so I guess it is fitting if Besler wins DOTY and Puma wins GKOTY, since we also won both of those awards in 2000 as well.
He like a lot of people have left bigsoccer since the site redesign I still talk with him on Twitter.
