There were meetings with the District moving forward, correct? Not sure what time table was for those, hope to hear news in coming months though.

I heard a minute or two of today's Kojo Nnamdi show - he was talking about a stadium for DCU with someone whose name I didn't catch, but he sounded like a local reporter. The reporter agreed with the formula "United pays for the stadium; the DC government pays for the infrastructure." I wish I had heard more, because it almost sounded like they were discussing something already agreed to. But that's undoubtedly too optimistic.

29:50 in. Short bit about polling data. No appetite for city funds for construction, but 62% favor infrastructure funding.

Washington City Paper has the breakdown.

    http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/articles/43379/the-politics-issue/?x=Who%20Should%20Pay%20for%20D.C.%20United%20Stadium%3F&y=Who%20Should%20Pay%20for%20D.C.%20United%20Stadium%3F

It's good news, maybe a little more support than I thought was out there, but one thing to remember is it's a poll. In a real voting scenario, a lot of people in that blue group (the 21% saying essentially no way Jose) are likely to feel fairly stridently about the issue, where a lot of people in the green one (the 62% that say infrastructure is OK) probably don't care enough to vote on it.

so, if this storm knocks down RFK, does that speed up the process of a new stadium?

If Baltimore was knocked down and they had to start over, would United be able to afford the real estate costs?

$1,500,000,000 spent on said franken election that will result in more of the same, only people will be pissed off more than they were before. If only they could channel unlimited PAC spending towards DCU @ BP.

PS -- One for the thumb, baby!

Be sure to let them know when it starts - you know, in case they don't notice any difference.

Issue brought up on the Kojo Nnamdi Show again. Officials brought up the fact that a SSS does not have the same financial impact as a baseball stadium so the city shouldn't fund it. All stadium funding needs to come from the team while the city will fund infrastructure improvements.

It'll have pretty much the same exact impact as a baseball stadium. The city probably still shouldn't fund it (same as with the baseball stadium).
Has DCU ever asked for funding a stadium from the DC Gov't? If they have, I've never heard of it.
